2007 DVC Member Cruise?
Gosh! I was quite surprised whe I opened my Email a little while ago and learned that I had been selected to book a stateroom aboard the Disney Vacation Club S.S. Member Cruise 2007 on Saturday, December 2, 2006. I entered the lottery just because I could, and I actually was selected!
I have about a week to learn everything I can about the Disney cruises. I have never been on any kind of cruise, but I know that if I am going to try cruising, I should go with Disney. I need to find out what the cost is going to be (The date is listed during "regular season" in the DVC Members Guide.) and i am supposed to have first, second, and third choices for stateroom categories. Anyone have any tips to share? Have you been on one of the previous member cruises? Are they truly something special (more so than the cruises booked throughout the year)? ![]()

Re: 2007 DVC Member Cruise?
Hi Lopo,
I think this is a double-dip. Two days at Castaway Cay. If I am correct, this would be awesome. We stayed in a category 10 (inside stateroom, no window with a split bath). The truth is that you will only sleep, shower and s*** in the room so I would suggest getting this category and saving the cash for onboard stuff. We just got off the boat so feel free to ask me whatever you want via PM or posting. Much depends on how big your family is and how old your kids are, etc... ![]()

Re: 2007 DVC Member Cruise?
I have heard that these cruises are awesome with lots of freebies and special things to do. I know they also sell out withing hours of the actual booking date.
Go for it! You will love it. And, I have to disagree with Skwak about not being in the room. We had a Cat9 last time and it was great, but I am booking a Cat6 next time. I really longed for a private space just to read and enjoy the ocean view so I will be loving that balcony.

Re: 2007 DVC Member Cruise?
Gosh - lucky you! I got the invitation too, but I don't think a cruise is in our plans this year.
We've been on 2 Disney cruises - 6 cruises in all - and none of them compare to Disney. The ships are amazing, the service outstanding, the entertainment and food - top notch. Castaway Cay is heaven on earth. As for staterooms - I guess it's a personal thing. Both times we have had an outside cabin with balcony - and I have to admit I'd never take an inside room or a room without a balcony. That balcony adds so much pleasure to our time. But it's a personal choice - we prefer to spend the extra on the balcony - and not on the excursions, etc. But you must decide for yourself which is more important.
