3-Day Cruise- Should I do Bahama Excursions?
Hello, this is my first time on this cruise. Taking my 4 kids and hubby. Since me and hubby been to Bahamas and kids are so young (4,6,10,12) and the cruise is so short we are thinking of skipping the Bahama excursions and spend time enjoying the ship. If we stay on the ship, what is there to do? We are definately doing Castaway Cove though?

Go to Atlantis or just hang on the ship.

Re: 3-Day Cruise- Should I do Bahama Excursions?
We went on a 6 day cruise, and wished we had done Nassau differently. All we saw was the straw market before DH was too hot and hungry to do anything else, so we headed back to the ship.
Our original plan was sto go to a resort and use their facilities. There are many right near the dock that charge you $15 to use their beach and pool.

Re: 3-Day Cruise- Should I do Bahama Excursions?
Just returned from there and I think you would do fine either way. If you plan an excursion, you will probably enjoy Nassau. I have heard nice things about Atlantis and some of the other excursions.
However, if you stay on board there is plenty to do and the ship is generally less crowded. We did what you did previously, we shopped a little, went to the straw market and returned to the ship for a late lunch. Either way, enjoy your cruise.

I say do an excusion to blackbeards island- you can do skin diving or just swim- its a boat ride there and they serve you lunch while there as well. They also offer swimming with the stingrays which was by far my favorite part! The kids will love that!

Re: 3-Day Cruise- Should I do Bahama Excursions?
Last time we did not do an excursion, but rather went to the beach at a hotel. I'll check the name, but it was a high end hotel, and for $10 a person, $5 for kids, we got beach rights and pool rights. It was not crowed, and had a nice bar, beach chairs, toys and rafts for the kids. It was about a 10 minute walk from the ship.
We did try the local beach once, but it had no chairs, and more important, there was glass all over the beach. The first trip we did the island excursion to a beach, which was ok, but you can save over $125 and do the resort...very relaxing too!!

Re: 3-Day Cruise- Should I do Bahama Excursions?
For about $15 dollars we took a nice horse carriage ride around town for about 45 minutes. We saw alot of sights and enjoyed it. I think many of the excursions are overated, and I feel like you just following the pack. Unless it something special that you can not do on your own, like the dolphin experience.

Re: 3-Day Cruise- Should I do Bahama Excursions?
I would just stay aboard the ship. Your cruise is so short and the kids will enjoy swimming when it is less crowded.

Your kids are at a perfect age to enjoy all those aquariums at Atlantis! Wow, they would love that underground part called The Dig, right? And those tubes you walk through, that go right through the aquariums? Cool!!!

Re: 3-Day Cruise- Should I do Bahama Excursions?
We are going on the 3 day cruise in a few weeks. We decided to skip Nassau and just get off on Castaway Cay. There is so much to do on the ship, I can't imagine a family would be better off spending the day in Nassau. My kids are 3,8, and 10. So, I guess we're in the same boat. (Get it??)

Re: 3-Day Cruise- Should I do Bahama Excursions?
Thanks everyone, you helped me make the decision as it was a hard one. I figured the older ones would get much more out of the excursion that little ones, and the little ones would get more out of enjoying a less crowed pool and having mommy all to themselves.
