Disney Cruise for adults with no children?

For the first time ever I am actually considering a Disney Cruise. Yes, it's just my husband and I but he's NEVER gone on a cruise & he really doesn't like the idea but said he'd consider cruising if it was a Disney ship.

What is the experience like? Do you think it would just be innappropriate or not as exciting for a couple with no children?

Also, if you wanted to do the 'cruise only', which one would you recommend?

Tell me all about it

Western 7 day: Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Castaway Cay.
Gold and gemstone shopping deals to be found on both tours. Penty of excursions for all ports.

We have done both and prefer the Eastern for the ports and the extra "sea day" that you have to relax and do activities on the ship.

Wish you really should consider the cruise seriously. You and Daniel would hav a blast!!!!

Well, we'll find out how out of place 2 adults, no kids can feel on a Mouseboat. Mike and I are going and the boat will leave on Jan.29 and I shall report back

Re: Disney Cruise for adults with no children?

In July '06 we went on a Royal Caribbean cruise and I swore I would never go on another cruise again.

However...

I would LOVE to go on a Disney cruise. The caliber of Disney vacations are just so much higher than any other vacation I have ever been on. The broadway style shows are enough to convince me, but reading jk8's daily navigators, the onboard activities look AWESOME as does Castaway Cay.

I think you should definitely try a Disney cruise and then write us one of your AWESOME TR's!

Re: Disney Cruise for adults with no children?

Hmm, I had no idea there was SO much to do on the ship! i was trying to read everything on the Disney Cruise website but there is SOOOO much information it's almost overwhelming! We're thinking about going April '09 for Spring Break. There is a cruise that leaves on the perfect date for me (as far as being off of school goes) so I am REALLY going to have to get the information together & see if Daniel really will consider going. All the ports of call look gorgeous & it doesn't sound like we'd be bored for a minute on the ship. hmmm.

Re: Disney Cruise for adults with no children?

My parents just did a Disney cruise, and they loved it. There are some great adults-only spaces on the boat - they loved that they could be part of the "family" stuff as well as adults-only stuff.
They did the keywest-cozumel-grand caymen -disney island cruise, i think it was 7 nights.

They LOOOOOOVVVVVED it! I'm sure you would too!

Re: Disney Cruise for adults with no children?

A cruise has always sounded like SO much fun to me! I've done some research and what has sold me on the Disney cruise rather than the others..other than the fact that I LOVE Disney..is Castaway Cay. They have their own "adult beach" so when you go there only adults are allowed on a certain beach. To me, that is pure heaven.

Re: Disney Cruise for adults with no children?

OMG this is a thread that I can totally post on.

So I've been on two Disney cruises and they are wonderful. I don't have kids and for very specific reasons and if you didn't want to you wouldn't come across many children. They have adult pools, an adult coffee lounge, an adult bar, adult restuaraunt, adult clubs, adult part on Castaway Cay. Seriously they are awesome about making sure adults who don't have kids don't have to mix with them if they don't want to. And seriously all the Disney Cruise really seem to be well behaved, nothing like the Disney Park kids. I don't know why but it just seems that way.

Also if you don't do the adult restaurant (Palo) they actually do a really good job of making sure parents with kids sit with parents with kids.

As well they have Pirate night that is so much fun to participate in, I think thats what excited me the most, Pirate night.

I would highly highly recommend the Disney Cruise. I had a blast on both occasions. One of the cruises was an 11 night and not once did I get bored and had the urge to leave the ship ASAP.

I can't wait to read your trip report.

Re: Disney Cruise for adults with no children?

I have friends who go EVERY year! They do bring their kids, but also the GRANDPARENTS! My friend and her husband stay in one part of the ship, and the Grandparents and kids the other . . . she said it really nice, cuz they can do husband/wife things together and then meet up with the family for dinner etc. So everyone gets a break and vacation (she's a stay-at-home Mom!)

She said the same thing that DisneyFreak78 said, Disney does a great job at keeping everyone happy and there are adult only areas and kid only areas on the ship!

I so badly want to go . . . a cruise was a DVC incentive once and it almost got me to join!

Re: Disney Cruise for adults with no children?

ABSOLUTELY - Go DCL without kids! I would recommend DCL to people who aren't big Disney fans. Sure the characters are around, but it's not overwhelming.

The 3 and 4 day cruises are a great way to try it out. As a DVC owner and long time WDW visitor, I always EXPECT good service. DCL blew me away.

Do NOT miss the live stage shows!

There are plenty of "adults only" activities and areas. I highly recommend the couples massage.

BTW - the you'll hear pros and cons about using points for cruise. If you look at the annual dues cost it is well below the cash price. If you want to rent the points out, you can get more per point but you are paying more. Points are easy to rent. There is some work and even a little risk, but it can be worth it.

Re: Disney Cruise for adults with no children?

Hey Wishy! I've been on 2 cruises before working for Disney and two since I started working here. I've never done any other line so I have no comparison (but I really have no urge to go on another line). I have no kids and have always cruised with just adults. It is the BEST time! You will love it. My suggestion...do the 4 night if you are unsure. The 3 night is not long enough! PM me if you have any questions! I have a wealth of DCL knowledge at my fingertips!
