Shopping???
Just wanted to ask... if anyone has taken the western carribbean cruise I was wondering about shopping. Jewlery in particular. Is Cozumel or Grand Cayman better? And how much less expensive is it compared to buying jewlery here? What's the quality? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Shopping???
We did a Western Caribbean about 2 years ago and got some really great deals on jewelry in Cozumel. I got a beautiful gold and Australian opal that is really gorgeous for about $250 that would have cost around $600+ in the states. We also picked up some really great deals in silver too. DH got a nice watch for about $200 less than what we could have gotten here too.
Grab the discount book that they give you on the ship for some freebies. We had a lot of fun running around getting our free gifts and found some great deals while doing it. ![]()

Re: Shopping???
Cozumel is better for shopping, esp for silver which Mexico is known for.
Grand Cayman does have a nice selection but it is a wealthy island (due to off-shore banking) so prices reflect the affluence of the residents. |

Re: Shopping???
I agree - Cozumel has better deals - some of the silver jewellery is beautiful. I got a gorgeous silver and enamel bracelet for about $30.00. Grand Cayman is an extremely wealthy island. The shopping is great, but you won't get any real bargains.

Re: Shopping???
Thank you all for the info. That is extremely helpful. It is our 10th anniversary and we are going to be getting a new ring for me. Grand Cayman is the stop before Cozumel so I didn't want to overspend and then find something in Cozumel.
