Flight booking & cruise times?

I wanted to start looking for flights for our Cruise next year. I know it's super early but I am getting nervous with the price of fuel & surchages impending. I am not worried about our arrival b/c I think we'll be flying in 2 nights early & staying at SSR with our DVC points.

My question is coming home. How do I know what time to make our departure flight for? I can't find ANYWHERE on the website that says what time the boat pulls into Port Canaveral, or more importantly, what time the Disney bus will get us back to Orlando International.

I don't want to be in a rush but I also don't want to be sitting in the airport for 4 hours. What time was your departure flight?

Re: Flight booking & cruise times?

Disney sugguests not to book your return flight before noon. We easily made an 11:45 flight 2 times ago. This time our flight was not until 3:30 which made for a long wait at the airport.

You can get off the ship at 7:30. You have to be off by 9 I think. If you have early dining your breakfast time slot on that day is 6:30 and late is 7:30. You can also have a continental breakfast in Topsiders, but your servers like to see you one last time.

They definately get you off the ship fast so they can turn all the rooms around and do it all over again.

Your luggage will also be picked up the night before so you will not be needing time for packing that morning.

Re: Flight booking & cruise times?

I have cruised with other cruise lines and they do get you off as early as possible-usually 8 or 9 am- so they can get ready for the next guests. An early afternoon flight should be good!!

I have never cruised on Disney Cruise Line, so I have no idea! But I just went on a cruise out of NY and I didn't have to get off the ship until 12.

Re: Flight booking & cruise times?

My experience with Disney is that you will reach port by 6 am - and there is NO cruiseline better at getting passengers off than Disney - there's no waiting at all - as soon as it's cleared customs you're free to go - no waiting for cabin numbers to be called - it's just "GET OUTTA HERE!" Grab your luggage in the terminal (in Disney-style it's totally organized - you'll be given a coloured tag and you just match it) and you're off.

On our last flight we booked a flight for 2 p.m. and we had tons of time.

Re: Flight booking & cruise times?

The cruise line advises that flights should depart after 12n. While others have been ok booking flights that depart a little earlier, it could be a problem if disembarkation is delayed for customs reasons. My flights, after the cruise, have always been from 12:30 on. To me, I am better safe than sorry. I'd rather have a bit more time at the airport waiting, than have to worry if I'll make my flight. Besides...I like the Orlando Airport...lots of fun shops!

Re: Flight booking & cruise times?

is orlando the best airport to fly into for a disney cruise? I mean, if you are NOT doing a WDW trip, does it make sense to fly into orlando or is there a closer airport?

I believe Orlando is the airport nearby (a google search said 55 mls)

Check out this link:

Interesting stuff!
