Thoughts on Formal Nights

As always - packing is driving me crazy!

Although it's not something to worry about on Disney Cruises (where casual rules), I have to consider 2 formal nights.

In the past, simply because it meant I didn't have to pack it - I would rent a tuxedo for my husband. It's been great in the past, always hanging in the cabin when we board. However, this time we have a "free-dining" itinerary (although there are 2 optional formal nights) - he won't really NEED a tuxedo - but we'll also celebrate our anniversary on the ship. Would you get the tuxedo (I have the requisite "little black dress" so that isn't a problem.) I really do love dressing up and seeing him in a tuxedo, but it is an added expense. (I'd pack his own - but I'm determined to only take 2 suitcases). Who votes for the tuxedo?

I gotta go with the tux. I mean, it seems appropriate, and I think you will be glad you did.

I'm glad you all agree. After all, Europe is BOUND to be more formal than the Caribbean, I would think. I'll do it!

I'm going to make a reservation for the classiet restaurant for our anniversary too!

Yes, generally speaking, the European cruises tend to be a bit more formal than the Caribbean, Mexico or Hawaii cruises.

Ah, not so! DCL has formal night and semi-formal night. We have always rented tuxes for the men. You should go for it for sure!

Gosh - I really don't remember that...I remember my dh wearing a blazer for Animator's and Triton's, but it didn't strike me as being "ultra" formal - I know that ties were optional.

I would absolutely go for the tux. There is nothing like seeing your husband all dressed up to set the "mood" for an anniversary!

Re: Thoughts on Formal Nights

With the Freestyle Dining, not a whole lot of people really dress up. I mean, they do DRESS, but I might have seen one tux the entire night. There were two optional formal nights on my cruise, one was when everyone got to meet the captain. I saw more people dressed nicer for that one. The next one, it was like a regular night on the ship.

If you want to dress to the 9s and are celebrating your anniversary, I say go for it! They have photographers that will take your pics and you guys will look so nice in your anniversary pics, all decked out!
