Cruise questions

My grandma promised me a trip to WDW and a trip on the disney cruise for my Graduation (BA) so now I have my MS and still have yet to go. Is there a lot to do for two adults. I am now a little worried about going as Grandma will not go on rides plus I teach school so only get to go during the summer or school breaks. Any help, I need to tell her if and when I want to go.

I would request the DVD on Disney Cruise Line. That is great. From what I can see, there is so much for adults. I am counting the days for my cruise. You can also check out Disney World - The Largest Unofficial On-Line Guide to Disney World, Walt Disney World there are copies of the navigators which tell you what happens each day on the cruise.

As far as WDW, there is so much to do besides the rides. Depending on how old she is, she may enjoy visiting the spa. There is the Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian. Maybe if you get both videos of WDW and Disney Cruise Line, that may really help.

In my own opinion, cruising any time but hurricane season is my preference

Re: Cruise questions

I am a teacher too and unfortunately I can only do the cruise on school breaks also. Just know that holiday & summer cruises are the most expensive so do a lot of research (this is a great place to start ) and you can visit their official site & other planning boards.

We are taking our first Disney Cruise next June and from everything I've read there is PLENTY to keep adults entertained.

Re: Cruise questions

I think there's a lot to do for two adults - both at the parks and on the cruise. I've cruised with friends and family 4 times (and have another one planned next year), and never with kids. Actually, I was amazed at how busy they keep the kids - every time, I'm surprised at how many kids are actually on the ship with us. I would never guess it!

Dinner/brunch/tea at Palo's is a definite "don't miss" for adults. And Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay is paradise!

Deb's website is a good one - for the cruise, I would recommend the Passporter's Guide to Disney Cruise Line. Also, the Disboards have a very active cruise board.

Re: Cruise questions

We have been on a Disney cruise and are planning another one (3 nighter) for next summer. The adult pool area is nice...I checked it out while my DD was busy in the oceaneer's lab. Also, I had a warm stone massage. sooooooo nice!

Re: Cruise questions

that you for all your help. I have ordered the DVD, for both the cruise and WDW.
I like the rides, but she does not feel up to it, she is in her 70's. She lives in So. Cal. so we have been to DL together. We mainly go on the kiddy rides. I like the ones that go fast. Space Mt. The Tower of Terror. etc. I am wondering if we should just do the cruise or convince someone who will ride the rides to go along or does this defeat the purpose?

Re: Cruise questions

You will love the cruise. There is so much to do and yet there is so much time to just relax and enjoy yourself. The shows are fantastic, the food is great and Castaway Cay is paradise.

I would never pass up a trip to Disney or a cruise. What an amazing gift!

Re: Cruise questions

Don't sweat it. Both Disney and DCL are geared for all types of guests. There is plenty of things to do, plenty of shows and rides that are suitable for all ages. Take in the 3-D shows and such. You might be suprised to find there is a whole lot more to Disney than rides.

And MOST of the rides are really ok for just about anybody. While I was at the sneak a peak pre opening for Everest, there was even an 80 year old who rode it TWICE!

Go and enjoy the time with your GM. You'll be glad you did.

There will be lots of other trips when you can ride what you want, but how many times will you get the chance to spend time with her?

Welcome to Mousebuzz and I couldn't agree with you more! Disney does a terrific job of making their cruises enjoyable for everyone. As odd as it sounds we saw less of children on the Disney cruise than any other cruise we have taken. Serenity Cove is heaven on earth!

Re: Cruise questions

Sorry I'm so late to respond to this!

My Familyand I have been on three Disney Cruises, and this October 11th we will be enjoying our fourth!

We have twin sons (14 years old now!) and we hardly ever see them on the ship! They are off doing their own thing1

My lovely DW and I enjoy the martinis at the piano bars on the ships, as well as our nightly strolls along deck 4!

Deck 4 looks like the old fashioned cruise lines, with old fashioned lounge chairs, and teakwood decking, even shuffleboard! After our nightly stroll along the deck, we like to go into the Cove Cafe for a great cup of cappuchino! Cove Cafe is strictly for adults 18 and up!

There is PLENTY to do for adults! If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to help you out!
