I am so afraid that this ship will be filled with screaming, bratty kids, there's nothing to do but watch Disney movies and no place to escape. We're not summer beach people, we're blustery weather beach people, so Castaway Cay is not a big draw for us either.

Ok, I have talked myself into it, I am going to change plans.

Thank you for listening
Well, it IS a Disney Cruise, but it's nothing that bad. There are MANY more "screaming, bratty kids" at WDW!

Actually, you hardly see the kids there are so many activities for them. We did it sans kids and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

heehee, I do know that it is a Disney cruise. Maybe I am afraid of the G-rated everything.
Thank you for trying to "talk me into" the cruise. I think I'll stick with the parks, some shnazzy restaurants for which my boys never had a taste, ride Splashmountain 58 times (donut and HB only did it 57 times) and enjoy what I think I would be missing.

I am happy with my decision. Let's see how my travel agent feels about this situation and me this morning

Look at it this way: How can you go wrong with 8 days at WDW? Sometimes, the known is the better choice. Good decision, me thinks.

Re: I am not sure any longer....

Been there, done that. Sort of. We intended on doing a Disney cruise a couple of years ago. Had it all priced out based on our spring break, ready to book. Four nights if I remember correctly. DS was excited until we started talking about how much it was really costing us and realized that we could stay at WDW in a value resort for seven nights. The cruise floated right out the window and we never looked back. We'd rather spend more time at the parks. That's all there is to it!

Iris, I'm with you. I have always wanted to go on a cruise, but a Disney cruise never appealed to me for the same reasons you have. You're going to get soooo excited now that you've made the decision to skip the cruise and hang out at the parks. Heck, I'm excited for you.

Hey, like they say.... follow your bliss.

Reminds me of the time I was supposed to go snow skiing for the day- my friend showed up to pick me up and I just said, "Let's just forget the slopes and go to Disneyland." Which we did.

Re: I am not sure any longer....

If crusing's not for you - then you should cancel it. Disney Cruises are expensive.

If you fear is a million gazillion kids, that isn't a problem. Disney probably does a better job of segregating kids from adults than any other cruise I've been on. And they strictly enforce the rules. No children allowed in adult areas. The entertainment is better than any other cruise ships. And the ships themselves are beautiful.

But - if you feel you'd be happier having a longer vacation at WDW, then that's what you should do. If you want to try out a cruise at a different time, just go to Vacationstogo.com. We hesitated taking a cruise for years - I was sure that dh would go insane on a cruise - how wrong I was! Now, along with WDW, it's our favourite kind of vacation.

(I have to agree with rlcharmichael - you'll see far more kids at WDW than you will on a Disney cruise).

Does this mean you'll be at WDW after January 30?

Re: I am not sure any longer....

Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do....:)

I can tell you though that, although there are many families on board, there was never a problem with feeling like I was being overrun by kids. I have sailed on Disney Cruises three different times....no children were in our party. Everyone loved it! The food, the entertainment....the adults only areas. As llama said, they strictly enforce the rules. The serenity pool area is just that! I can say that Disney keeps there ships looking and feeling fresh too.

As I said though, you gotta do what you gotta do. Maybe you could do it another time:)

Missing out at the parks would be a bit of a downer for me too, and probably the only reason I haven't done a cruise yet.

Hope your extended WDW vacation is awesome!

Re: I am not sure any longer....

I think you made the right choice. I went on the 4-day Dis Cruise a few years ago with 3 nights at WL and the whole time I was on the ship I wished I was still in WDW. I guess it didn't help that it was my 1st ever cruise and there was a hurricane that we were trying to out run the whole time!

I felt kinda trapped on the ship. The food was great, the rooms were great and the kids club was the best - but it just wasn't for me. Give me 8 days at WDW any day!!

Yes, exactly. I would just not be happy to spend all my Disney time at the parks.
Thank you all

See now...what we need to do is win the lottery so that we can stay at WDW for a week before and a week after a 3, 4 or 7 day cruise! Or however long we feel like staying before and after

Re: I am not sure any longer....

Yike, I could hyperventilate over this post! After our last trip to WDW all I could do was crave the cruise instead. total opposite.

Cruise = relaxing and fun
WDW = hot and tired

Seriously we will go back to WDW but the cruises are my first priority now.
