I am not sure any longer....

I have been mulling this over in my mind for the last few weeks. I cannot get excited over this cruise thing at all. I am dragging my feet, thinking about it every day. I think I will cancel our Disney cruise and stay at WDW for the full 8 nights instead.
I am so afraid that this ship will be filled with screaming, bratty kids, there's nothing to do but watch Disney movies and no place to escape. We're not summer beach people, we're blustery weather beach people, so Castaway Cay is not a big draw for us either.

Ok, I have talked myself into it, I am going to change plans.

Thank you for listening

Re: I am not sure any longer....

Change them if it's not for you. We pay to much money for our vacations to not be totally and 100% happy about our choices. I don't think the cruise would do it for me either. I like the parks and the excitement...to me the cruise would just be a tease of what I could be doing at WDW. If I were able to make several trips to WDW a year, maybe a cruise would be in my future. With only one week a year for me to suck in the magic, I want to be at WDW doing it.

You understand exactly how I feel. I just keep thinking about the fun in the parks I would be missing. I just can't do that.

And even with the deluxe DDP, I am going to get the trip for about $ 500. less, if we're staying at a moderate. Not that that was a consideration. I would gladly spend what it takes.

The only drawback now is the fact that I can't justify to stay at the Beach Club. That is just too expensive. I have other things I need to spend money on here at home.

So, I am leaning towards POFQ. I so love the boat ride to DTD which I cannot get at any other moderate. And having stayed at POR the last 2 trips, I think I might just join the POFQ lovers of MB

I agree. If you don't think cruising is for you then you should change the trip to something you will 100% enjoy.

Re: I am not sure any longer....

Sometimes is just takes thinking out loud to give ourselves the answer. If you're not excited about the Disney cruise then it sounds like you've made the right choice. I've mulled over doing the cruise myself and, like you, I kept thinking about all the time I would be missing at the parks. It's a lot of money and it sounds like you're happy with your decision.

Re: I am not sure any longer....

If I didn't have a young child I probably would not do the cruise either. I would do NCL freestyle! I think you should cancel and do the whole 8 days in WDW. It sounds like you are leaning towards that. I am sure people will come on here and say that there is a lot to do for adults, though, on the cruise. I am with you about missing the parks.

Why don't you spend the days you already have booked at the Beach Club and the days you would have been on the cruise at POFQ? Then you are still getting to stay at BC for a bit and you are still saving a little moolah.

I don't know what else to say - I just want you to be happy!

Re: I am not sure any longer....

I really, really enjoyed our cruise when we went a few years ago, but I do get what your thinking. I am not one who likes to be "stuck" anywhere. I want to be able to go and do things when I want. Not often, but a few times I really wanted off the boat.

I like the idea of a split stay too.

Re: I am not sure any longer....

I am doing a cruise for the 1st time in my life. We orginally had 7 days in WDW booked and my DH talked me into this. I wasn't real keen on it at first, but as time has gone by I have gotten more and more excited about it. If you have had time to think about it and you don't think you'll enjoy yourself, then by all means you should switch. Like others have said, it's your vacation , you should enjoy what you are doing!!!!

I agree, if you are not 100% on board, don't do it! Vacations cost us way too much to not be satisfied, however, on the flip side, you'll never know if you don't try!

Re: I am not sure any longer....

My wife really wants to do the cruise thing. I don't think I'd like it because I'm not much of a social butterfly and I don't like being confined. Plus that's a lot of money to spend on something you've never done before.

My only real interest would be going to The Artist's Pallet to eat. That looks pretty cool.

Re: I am not sure any longer....

yup, I'm gonna do it. I just feel so sorry for that poor travel agent whom I have been bugging with questions and tweaking for the last 4 months or so. He's going to tear out his hair, if he has any.

In the beginning I was so excited and the more trip reports I have read, the more it seems like something not very fun anymore.
I would love to do a cruise for adults with casinos and crazy parties
The split stay is a great idea. I will have to do some research on that. I always just get the package vacations and be done with it.

Back to the drawing board.

Thank you one and all

Dopey I totally understand where you are coming from. We mulled over crusies that last few trips, almost booked them then made the final decisions to just go to Disney.
Good decision if you are not 100%

Re: I am not sure any longer....

I would prefer going to Disney over a cruise. Since we always go during the summer, I would be afraid that I would run into a hurricane the one time I decided to go on a cruise.

Re: I am not sure any longer....

That is too bad- the cruise is my favorite part because I get to get rid of the kids and I never see them - that way i can enjoy a beautiful and luxurious cruise and pretend that the kids are not there. As for the movies etc... it really is not like that and it is the only cruise ship that I have been on that had an adults only pool and section. I love that- you dont see kids and you dont hear kids there.... its just stunning.

Maybe another time you will be able to do it-
