Hard Rock Cafe

I have a question about Hard Rock Cafe. We are going to be staying at Disney(Pop Century) in June, would love to go to Hard Rock Cafe one night.
How far is it from Disney?
What is the best way to get there? (We will be flying in and using Disney transportation from airport) If we use a taxi , what company is the best and more reasonable?
How much does it usually cost for taxi?
When you call do they come then or is there usually a long wait? Don't want to be sitting at the Hard Rock Cafe waiting on a cab for along time!
Last question Is the food good and what is the best time to go?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

Re: Hard Rock Cafe

One more question: Are there buses that can take you to Hard Rock Cafe? What are the times they run? Do they give you a time they will be back?

Hard Rock Cafe is located at Universal City Walk...right outside of US and IOA. It will probably cost you about $25 each way by cab. IMHO, I don't think it's worth it to take a cab there JUST for Hard Rock Cafe. The food is pretty similar to Planet Hollywood at DTD. If you are already going to Universal, it might be worth a visit.

If you are staying on site at WDW, there is no transportation to Universal. You'd have to take a cab or rent a car.

I agree...its definitely not worth a special trip. We like HR and the food is pretty good, but there are so many better options while your at Disney...IMHO I wouln't waste the time and the $50 for the ride.

I would rather spend it Downtown Disney. If you like celebrity memorabilla and music, check out Starbilias and the Virgin Megastore on the West Side at DTD, then grab dinner.... Wolfgang Pucks has great food.

That's alot just to get somewhere and back. I don't think we will want to spend $50.00 on a cab. I think with all the options at Disney we can find somewhere else we like. Just thought it would be something different. DH likes to eat at Hard Rock Cafe, but I think when he finds out it will cost that much he will say let's go to Plant Hollywood. Thanks for all the help!

Thanks for the information. My DH loves memorabilla and music. I've heard of Virgin Megastore, but not Starbilias. These are two places we will need to check out. Is Wolfgang Pucks on the dining plan? I think my DH and DD would love this place. Do they have a goood childrens menu?

Re: Hard Rock Cafe

Another option would be to get a rental car at WDW just for the day and drive yourself there. It's about a 20 min drive. Personally, we're big Universal fans and love to include some time there whenever we go to WDW.

/QUOTE]Thanks for the suggestion. This might be something we will look into. Who do you usually rent from? What is the rate for one day?

There are two rental places at WDW. They are both National/Alamo. One is near the MK and one is at the Swan/Dolphin. The best place to get discount codes and coupons for car rentals is at MouseSavers.com - Disney Discount - Disney World Discounts - Disneyland Discounts
Then just go to the National/Alamo website and see what rates you can find for your dates.

Re: Hard Rock Cafe

There are so many much better places to eat at WDW. Personally, I think the food in all of those theme restaurants is below average bu I understand that's not why people go. I'm a little biased because I live next to Myrtle Beach where we have a HR and PH which I never waste my time and money in anymore.

Thanks for the information. I think we have decided to stay at WDW the whole time. There is so much to do and see , I almost feel like I will lose an evening if I leave. We are also doing the Dining Plan. The way things are looking now, we might end up driving, instead of flying. Good thing I bought the insurance, so I could cancel if need to. I'm not sure if it will be cheaper or not with the rise in gas prices. Really wanted to see some discounts for the summer months. I'm about to lose all hope in that.

Re: Hard Rock Cafe

^If it helps you any, I can get to Orlando in 7 hours from here (Myrtle Beach). So, depending where you are in NC, driving might not be too bad. Of course, I can go the 470 miles on one tank of gas...

It takes us around 11 hours to get to Orlando. We have driven it before. It was a long drive with a 5 year old. DD is going to be 9 when we go in June so maybe driving won't be so bad. Last year we flew to Denver Colorado, and from there we rented a car and drove to brother in laws house in Wymoing, and then to Yellowstone! Wow what a drive. I thought I would go CRAZY before we got there. Felt like we dove the entire trip. I guess if DD could handle that then 11 hours is nothing. Also alittle disappointed in airline. When I made reservations in Jan. we had a non-stop flight, well guess what now we have to leave from Charlotte Airport fly to Alanta GA and then to Orlando. Was suppose to be 1 hour and 45 mins. has changed to leaving at 10:30, getting in Alanta at 11:30, getting on next flight at 1:30 and getting to Orlando around 3:00! Too much sitting around for the next flight. Sorry didn't mean to vent, just alittle upset. Speaking of upset, I'm still upset no discounts have come out for the summer. Before I go I know you love Myrtle Beach, I love it there we come at least once a year to visit.

Re: Hard Rock Cafe

That's weird you couldn't get direct because according to the Non-stop Cities Served Report, there are 3 airlines that fly nonstop to Orlando from Charlotte-Douglas Intl Airport.

Yeah, I do love living around here. I mean, tourist season seems to get longer and longer but I can't really complain since I'm one of those "darn yankees" (from NJ; joke: A yankee is a northerner who visits and leaves but a darn yankee is a northerner who visits and stays). May is just horrendous. It's basically turned into a bike month and is a complete nuisance.
