It REALLY depends on what type of resorts you stay at. The DVC resorts are "home away from home" deluxe resorts. Some of the units are available for rent from Disney (members exchange for other vacations like cruises or other resorts) and they are pretty pricey. If you want to stay in a nicer place renting points is cheaper than renting directly. Renting points to stay at a NON-DVC resort isn't.

Studios at DVC resorts run as low as 8 points per night. At $10 that's only $80 and there's no hotel taxes added either!

Want to stay at the Poly garden view low season mid week it's 37 points per night ($370) and 65 on weekend ($650). Most likely cheaper to rent those rooms directly. But there are DVC units at Animal Kingdom, Broadwalk, Beach Club, Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, and Wilderness Lodge. Although nobody with DVC will admit to it, the new construction at Contempary is going to be a DVC location. And DVC is building in Hawaii and at Disneyland.

so how do you know how many points per resort and when? is there somewhere I can look to calculate or is that done through a dvc member? (I know...stupid questions...but I am completely clueless...sorry)

They all can but you'll have to get a 2 bedroom unless one child is under 3. I think AKV does have some smaller rooms that will sleep 5.

Hi Richard! Just wondering if you have any points left. We have another family friend that may be interested in renting points for a Christmastime Trip. Not sure how many nights yet, we're waiting for the school calendar to come out any day now...just trying to come up with a plan.

Looks like the points are all rented. I've got someone looking at the last few (56) points now.

Thanks to everyone who rented and especially those who sent friends and family my way. There are a couple of reservations still waitlisted - here's an extra sprinkle of pixie dust in hopes that it comes through.

Now to figure out when to book the Alaska Cruise! Looking at either May or September which are low season and fares are MUCH better - I'd rather spend the money on excursions than cruise!

And the funny thing is that several people that asked about renting are now new DVC neighbors. I talked them out of renting and into buying. (My DVC advisor LOVES me!)

And Bella - after two unsucessful attempts to have them email the confirmation to me they are now sending a hard copy by snail mail.

I would love to give a shout out of the name of the person we rented from. I won't because I am not sure if they want it known. HOWEVER, they are fantastic, AND this person has worked hard to get us ALL of our nights at Wilderness Lodge Villa's. The last 2 nights came available for us yesterday... HUZZAAHH!!!

ALL of the points are gone...and now I'm going down the the EAA Flyin Sun and Fun in April.

I even had to borrow from next years points. Oh, well. That's what we bought them for!

Disneyland? I didn't know you could use points at Disneyland.
We are thinking about going there next year and this interests me!
