2009 Points for rent

I have points for rent. Looking to rent 300 or so but will go higher if needed. These can be used anytime from now until 7/31/2010. I rent to MBers & friends. In 2008, I rented over 750 points here!

I charge $11 per point, and include insurance (lodging only) up to 7 days prior to check in. Ask for details. I require short rental agreement which spells everything out and credit card authorization. Your card will not be charged if the accomidations you want are not available. This protects us both.

Reservations can be made up to 11 months prior to check in date for SSR or 7 months for all other DVC locations. Sorry, I won't be renting BLT points this year!

I'm considering buying more points at BLT so I may also consider selling some SSR contracts - don't need ANY more payments!

Please EMAIL me RLC@RLCarmichael.com Private message box fills up WAY too fast!

Re: 2009 Points for rent

What do you mean by insurance? What exactly does that cover and is it a policy or just your guarantee?? Sorry if I sound stupid here, but never heard of anyone offering insurance to rent points. Also, is that why you charge $1 per point more than what most people ask? I have always rented for $10 per. If so, what is included with said insurance. Thanks.

DVC includes an insurance offer with the reservation. I don't remember what it costs but it's not a lot. I may have one here, let me look around.

The member I rented from sent the paper to me but I didn't get the insurance.

Re: 2009 Points for rent

I rented from Richard last year and wish I could do it again. He was great to work with and calmed all my nerves! I wish we were going again this year, if we were I'd rent from him without a doubt.
And I don't want to speak for him, but I think he charges $11 instead of $10 because annual dues went up this year.

Re: 2009 Points for rent

I did a search and couldn't find it... can someone post the DVC "points chart" so I can see how many points would be needed for a specific place or time? Thanks!

Re: 2009 Points for rent

Unlike WDW reservations where you can cancel almost up to the check in day, DVC points are SEVERELY restricted if you cancel. Most people are asking between $10-13 per point not including insurance, so I think $11 with is reasonable.

First, they have a time frame that they must be used in (use year) so if someone cancels close to the end of the use year, the chances of renting them again is REAL slim and the member looses the points. Under 30 days and they go into a short term use status known as "holding" - these can only be used for stays within 60 days which also makes them tough to rent.

Keep in mind that if you cancel, under my terms, you get all or most of your money back but the I may not be able to rent the points and still could end up loosing as much $7 per point. The smart thing for me to do would be to make them non-refundable and pay the insurance to cover me.

That's why insurance is important. Some agreements are strictly non refundable. I have offered it both ways in the past but now just include the cost.

Yes, the annual dues cost has risen 10% - like everything else. I also have the convience and protection of paying by credit card which costs me $0.29 per point rented. Insurance cost is roughly $0.25 per point. With costs going up - both the annual fee and cost to buy the points in the first place, more and more people are going to be charging more.

WDW rates have taken a pretty good jump in the last few years also. The room I stayed in at the Yacht Club last Christmas had a rack rate of $475 was showing $550 when I was there last month! PLUS TAX!!!

Re: 2009 Points for rent

This is probably a silly question...if you rent DVC points can you still do the Dining Plan and Ticket Package?

you can do DDP, but not a package with meals and tickets in the traditonal package sense... I rented last august and got the DDP and bought my tickets at my local disney store. If you rent and want the DDP, just have the person note it on the reservation for you. You will pay that up front and in full at check in. I have done that twice while renting and it worked out just fine.

rlcarmichael - thank you for explaining. I wasn't implying that you charged to much, I just didn't understand the insurance and wondered if that was included in your $11 per point price instead of when you book nonrefundale with someone for $10...sorry if you thought otherwise.

Bella - I do remember you renting from him..thank you for the heads up on the dues increase...I have no clue about these things..lol

They are more like deluxe resorts and several are part of deluxe. OKW and SSR are stand alone resorts but the rest are a part of another resort.
