We are leaving WDW on July 9 heading home to NY. Does anyone know of any decent hotels to stay in overnight off I-95 in NC? Preferably as close to VA as possible. Thanks!

Re: driving from Disney to NY -Any ideas for hotels off I-95?
Welcome to Disney Central!!! There are lots of chain motels right off I-95 up and down the East Coast. You will not go wrong at any of the name brand ones.

I would recomend any of the hotels in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The exit on the north side of Fayetteville that has a Cracker Barrell has several wonderful hotels. I believe one of them is a nearly brand new Red Roof Inn. The plus side to Fayetteville is that it is located right in the middle of NC.

I agree with disneyluva on the Cracker Barrel. We absolutely love them! We plan our trip stops around where they are located. We don't have them in Canada and we always look forward to eating at them. I would recommend either a Best Western or a Holiday Inn Express. Brand name recognition and they both have complimentary breakfasts that are more than just muffins and coffee. They cost a little more but you know the old saying... "You get what you pay for!"

i've always stopped at the Days inn in Lumberton North carolina. its about halfway between the two. its the best one on the planet but its like $40 a night. If you don't like the days inn, there are four or five other hotel chains on the same exit plus theres a Mickey D's and Burger King and a Kmart should you need to buy anything. its about 1/2 an hour into NC and we usually pull in somewhere around dinner just when I need to stop driving.

Fayetteville has a nice SHeraton 4 points and several others ;like Wingate Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, etc. It's about 4 hours from Fayetteville to the Fredericksburg, VA area (where I live) and we are 1 hr south of D.C. right off of I-95. If you stay in Fredericksburg..I'd stay at Holiday In Express off of Route 3, or Wytestone suites (it's nice and a good price) or the Sleep Inn off Route 1..it's brand new, or Fairfield Inn. Have a safe trip back!

Re: driving from Disney to NY -Any ideas for hotels off I-95?
Dana, I would say that Fayetteville is about 8-9 hours from WDW. By the way, I have to shoot down Lumbertown. I just didn't like the town and felt a little on the downward side. Lumbertown is about 30 minutes from Fayetteville, and it has so much better.
Thanks to pbharris4. The Sheraton 4 Points was the hotel I was thinking of as well as the brand new Red Roof.

Re: driving from Disney to NY -Any ideas for hotels off I-95?
Yeah, Dana, I'm not going to argue with disneyguy about either fayetville or lumberton. lumberton isn't exactly swinging. I've never been to fayetville. but lumberton was easy on easy off right back on the highway and reasonable prices at the time. I've never had a problem there but its not swanky either.
just as an aside. My father left Long Island at 3.00am and was able to get well into south carolina before stopping. its a long way to be sure. the problems with I95 are getting past washington and baltimore. one time I got stuck in construction traffic for 6 hours in DC. but as a morale boost, I suggest to get as far south as possible before stopping. 1. you'll feel closer and it will give you excitement. its hard to look at another 12 hour car ride with joy. but a 8 hour one, hej, I'm a commuter, no problem! 2. its still a three hour or so drive once you get into florida and I've always hit traffic in daytona where the LIPGA HQ overpass is. and its those three hours that are killer b/c youve come the whole eastern seaboard and still so far away. 3. you're going to be wiped out from the drive anyway. its better to have the worst part behind you. so leave early, get out of or past NYC and get to DC before morning rush and it will be a breeze. leave like I did once and leave at 12.30pm and it will take you 16 hours to get to fayetville. ![]()

Why not stay in Virginia? We stay at the Wingate Inn in Fredricksburg (it's the exit after the downtown Fredricksburg exit) and have had many good experiences. If you insist on staying in NC, I suggest Fayetteville.

Well, for Dana to go from Philly to Virginia is not that far. It would be about a 10 hour drive to Fayetteville from Philly.
