Packing Tips

Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for any packing tips. Here are a few that I would like to start with.

If planning on doing laundry at the resort, use an empty Woolite bottle and fill it with your normal detergent. I was able to do 3 loads of wash. Also, put a stack of dryer sheets in a ziplock bag for the dryer. This saved me about $6.00. Oh, and an M&M (mini) case holds a roll of quarters.

Pack extra hangers for your room for your jackets, sweaters, anything you want to hang. They provide very few hangers.

Ziplock bags, a must! If you are planning on packing toiletries, put them in a ziplock bag, should they open during flight or driving, your clothes will not get effected. Also, pack a few to bring to the parks, or put stuff in for the parks.

I know there is probably a lot of other great tips for packing. What are your tips??

I just put the dryer sheets in with the clothes, they come out of the suitcase smelling fresh:)

for more room ..my granddaughter taught me to roll up our clothes. Actually my mom use to do this ..something to do with my daddy and when he was in the Navy. But it does really make more space.
I used an empty shampoo bottle for liqiud detergent. Or if I find those small boxes of detergent I just get those .. sometimes you can find samples. I recently lucked up on a small bottle of liquid detergent at Wal mart for our trip in August.

Re: Packing Tips

My favorite packing tip is for packing my DS. I pack his clothes in gallon ZipLock bags. In each bag I put shorts, shirt, underwear, and a pair of socks. In the morning all I/he has to do is grab a bag and he has everything he needs. It saves me time going through drawers looking for all his clothes or trying to tell my DH what goes together. Once he wears the clothes we have extra ZipLock bags to put other stuff in, like that wet swimsuit, on the trip home.

Re: Packing Tips

If you're flying and staying for less than a week, then you should consider travelling with only carry-on bags.

When selecting what to bring, bring clothes that are easily hand washable. Bring a bottle of Woolite and a travel iron. Just in case you're not in the mood for locating and babysitting a full load of laundry, you can always use the sink in the room as an alternative. Be sure to wear the easily washable items early in your trip to give you more flexibility for when to wash them later in the trip.

Shoe tips:
Don't buy new shoes for the trip! This is a VERY common mistake. Any footwear should be broken in for a least a couple of weeks. You'll regret it otherwise. Consider packing a pair of walking sandals. DW and I alternated sneakers/sandals and it worked out great. Sandals let your feet breathe and dry out a LOT faster when you ride any of the water rides or when you get caught in a downpour.

Re: Packing Tips

More than a packing tip this is a travel tip!!!

There is a homeopathic product out called ZICAM! You can get it in nose spray or q-tips!! It is suggested to use this before flying!! You know how easy it is to pick up cold or flu bugs on airplanes? This is suppose to help keep you from getting it!!

It has worked for us!!!!

Re: Packing Tips

my parents used zicam last year. The fates arranged it for both mom and dad to be so sick they could barely get out of bed three days before! Luckily, Zicam worked, and saved out trip!

Re: Packing Tips

Yeah I'm bad with this....if I got for 3 days I bring enough close for about 2 weeks. I like options when Im there. I pick like 3 or 4 outfits for each day so when I wake up in the morning I can pick what one I want to wear! lol. sounds stupid, but I'm extremely picky when it comes to certain things and that is one of them. I'm not big on not being able to choose between things.

Re: Packing Tips
