Our itinerary

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you all wouldn't mind taking a look at our itinerary for WDW, we want to make sure we get the most out of our trip but this being our first WDW adventure we're not sure if we've got the logic right, and I know a good itinerary is vital for a good WDW holiday. You will also notice that we haven't included anywhere to eat in the evening, which is a complete headache for me, I think were a bit late to book any shows so we'll have to wing it. Comments and suggestions most welcome. Thanks all.

Re: Our itinerary

Hello Ginger!

You have given yourself plenty of time to do everything. You may even find a bunch of extra times to just relax. That's what vacation is for. On your DTD, AK, and Epcot days, you should have plenty of "extra" time after touring to relax by the pool or check out PI. I love that you gave yourself an entire day to see the world showcase. It's not a total day of touring, but you can stretch it out enjoying each nad everyone of the countries and their shops. Leave those last days open to go revisit what you like the most or go back and see things you missed. Excellent plans for a first timer. Make sure to take notes and bless us all with a trip report. I love to hear about people's first times to WDW. have a great trip~

Re: Our itinerary

Sounds like you might have underplanned a little. Maybe that is a little more your style, it is just not the way I usually operate. If I am going to pay for a ticket, I want to get a full day's worth out of that ticket. Also, I don't think I don't know if I could spend an entire day in the Showcase @ Epcot. I would definetly have to shuttle out of the Showcase for a lunch PS. Same thing goes with AK, as well, in that case I could probably spend all day there, but have never had the time to dedicate to it. Just wanted to double check that you know Busch Gardens is 75 miles away. Great park though!!

Re: Our itinerary

I would suggest just one thing. Plan on seeing Cirque de Soleil. I'm sure you'd still be able to get tickets for an evening during the time you're there. You will not be sorry. I think that you'll find, once you get there, that you've left yourself ample time to do and see everything and will amend accordingly.

Re: Our itinerary

This is getting quite difficult, we've got a 10 Day world pass (which I'm pretty sure does clasify as a hopper ticket), and I'm struggling to think of places to go.... we've got all the major stuff covered I cant think how to flesh the other days out. Your probably going to tell me off for saying that and tell me that theres pleanty todo for a 10 day pass but at the moment I cant see it. I guess we should leave some days in our itinerary free so we can plan what to do when we arrive and I realise for myself that WDW is much bigger than I thought.

Is it worth visiting Disneys Boardwalk and I quite like the sound of Disney Quest but I'm not sure how much time to devote to these. Is Boardwalk a good place to scout out for eateries?

Re: Our itinerary

I've made some edits to give you a better impression on how much time you may want to dedicate to parks and relaxing

Monday 27th September
MGM Studios
NOTE: This is probably a good 1st day. I highly reccommend starting out with Breakfast at Spoodles at the Boardwalk. The best way to get there is to take the first available bus to MGM and take the boat to the Boardwalk. If you haven't already, you should call Disney Dining to see if you can get the Fantasmic Dinner package.

Tuesday 28th September
Downtown Disney
NOTE: Personally, I think you should consider doing Magic Kingdom today. DTD is by no means a full-day and there's really nothing to do first thing in the morning. I think you should get to MK right at the opening to see the rope-drop ceremony. It's the most magical way to see MK for the first time. DTD should probably wait until later in the trip when you'd like to relax.

Wednesday 29th September
Epcot (Future World)
NOTE: This is a good idea because it's EMH day, so long as you get there first thing. I would plan on doing as many rides as possible and then get on the monorail to head back to MK. Take a leisurely lunch at any of the 3 MK resorts and then finish out the day at MK to hit any of the rides that you missed the day before. This would also be a great night to try Ohanas.

Thursday 30th September
Epcot (showcase)
NOTE: This is good. The showcase doesn't open until 11am, so you can get in whatever rides you missed the day before, unless you'd like to sleep in. Then you can spend the afternoon touring the showcase and perhaps walk over the the Boardwalk for dinner and enjoy BW at night.

Friday 1st October
Magic Kingdom
NOTE: Since you're onsite, I really think you should consider AK today because of EMH. You should be pretty well adjusted to the time change by now. AK closes at 5pm and from my experience, you can easily do everything you want to do by 2pm. Then you can relax for the rest of the day, go to a nice dinner (perhaps California Grill and see Wishes from the top of the Contemporary)

Saturday 2nd October
Animal Kingdom
NOTE: If you've taken my advice and done AK the day before, today could be the "do anything" day which could include MGM for EMH, or a character breakfast at Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Faire with some shopping at DTD later in the day.

Sunday 3rd October
Move into Villa
Go shopping

Monday 4th October
Blizzard Beach
NOTE: Make a reservation for dinner. Maybe you could get tickets for La Nouba and have dinner at one of the DTD restaurants.

Tuesday 5th October
Magic Kingdom
NOTE: By this point, you've reached the saturation point where you should really try and be super flexible. Don't rush to do anything in particular, but maybe try doing an Epcot/MK mix day again. I find the monorail trip to not only be fun, but also a great way to break up the day and relax a bit without going back to the resort.

Wednesday 6th October
Busch Gardens

Thursday 7th October
Typhoon Lagoon
Epcot Wine & Food Festival

Friday 8th October
Universal Studios

Saturday 9th October
Contingency Day (going to see when we are there) but must be a disney park (10 day ticket)

Sunday 10th October
Don’t know yet - need somthing thats going to be fun but not too tiring for our flight (I get cranky when I'm tired ).
NOTE: I try to make the last day really enjoyable by planning nothing more than a nice breakfast. You could try breakfast at Spoodles, even it's the second time. Spoodles is GREAT for breakfast. Or you could try a character breakfast. There are many ways to relax.
Leave for Airport 17:00
Check in Sanford 18:50
Fly out Sanford 20:50
I hope my suggestions might give you some ideas.

Re: Our itinerary

Right I think I'm starting to get my head around our itinerary thanks all for your comments esp. SeatleRedBear and MerlinMatt for your detailed suggestions. I'm also getting my head around the eateries and where we should go, the only thing I'm still a bit curious and not in the know about is the "Show Dinners" I can find a list of restaurants in our guides but it doesnt seem to mention show dinners. Can anyone explain a little about these and possibly point me in the dirrection of a list of these and if anyone can spare the time list some of the ones that are a "must to see".

Thanks again

i think it's very good that you have gaps in your plans. This will allow you to redo things or go back and see things you missed. Taking extra time to see each park is a great idea..especially for your first visit. You can spend a nice day relaxing at the resort too...won't kill you I promise.
