Planning a trip on 4/1 through 4/13

I know that this is the busy time of year to go, but does this time frame count as Easter week to some of you that have been there at this time? I'm trying to plan our trip around spring break and hoping that if I catch April 1 week, I'll miss some of the Easter crowd. What do you all think. I have read that Easter is the worst time of year to go

I am not sure if that is peak time or not. Something is telling me yes. Check on disney's home page. They will tell you the rate and time of year they consider it to be.

What sparked my curiosity was your comment in the "things you wish you knew the first time" thread. You seemed emphatic about not going on Easter. What experience do you have during this time?

It was just VERY, very crowded the entire trip. If I had known better, I would have planned out my trip. I would have made sure to be on hand for park opening instead of sleeping until 10am. I would have utilitzed fast pass and tried to take advantage of early entry. I just didn't enjoy the crowds at all. I waited for almost two hours to ride splash mountain that week...it was insane. I hate only getting on 4 attractions in 5 hours. Tempers were flying and people were at their worse when I was there. A lady moved my DD's coach out of the way and took her parade spot..lol I just wasn't prepared at all and it made the crowds seem worse then what they were. If you plan for them and take advantae of the EMH and make sure to be on hand for the rope drops, you should be able to have a great time. My lack of knowledge and experience was the death of that trip. The crowds were the icing on a crappy cake that I made for myself by not doing the research I should have done.

Thanks. I appreciate the insight. I too try to pass on the "crappy cakes" whenever I can. lol. Does my whole trip apply to the "Easter" week or will I catch a break from that my first week there?

When is easter next year? If it's before you trip, you may catch the tail end of Easter breakers and maybe some spring breaks. If it's after your trip, you may luck out and not see to much of the crowds. Just remember to make PSes/AR for anywhere you want to eat. It's really hard to get a table for a meal that week. Walking up to a restaurant could be an hour or more waiting for a table. Also remember to get up EARLY and get to the parks at least a half hour before opening. Sometimes when the crowds are heavy, WDW will open their parks a tad earlier than posted. Grab yourself the Unofficial Guide to WDW, but wait until the 2006 version comes out in September. That guide will prepare you for anything that EAster crowds can throw at you. You'll be fine. just ask many questions on here, do your homework and mentally prepare yourself for crowds. If you expect them and prepare for them, you will have a much better experience.
