downloading digital photos

Is there a place in the parks or resorts that I can download our photos from our camera to a disk? I just know we are are going to have too many photos for our memory card! If so, do you bring your own disk or do they do it for you?

They will provide you with a disk. The cost is about $ 14.00. Worth every penny and better than buying a new memory card.

Re: downloading digital photos

I'm pretty sure they can do it at all the photo stores at the entrances to each park.

Back in 2003, one of the only places to do it was at the Imagination Pavillion at Epcot, but now they're all over the parks.

Definately worth it.

Re: downloading digital photos

Has anyone done this more recently than these last few posts?

Is it that easy, you take your camera in they just download the pictures to the disks and then off you go with a clean memory card? Can you add more pictures to that same disk in future days? Is it still around $14 per disk?

I've not done it but I think I've read the CD is just a one time thing, you'll have to start over if you need to clear your card again.

Memory cards have really come down in price over the last few years. We picked one up for $15 right before our trip. It not huge, 512 MB, but it holds over 500 pictures.

Re: downloading digital photos

This came in handy on our last trip because we did not want to drive to a drug store or walmart. And it was only 14$, I know that may seem like a lot but it was well worth it, not to have to run to the store at night!

Re: downloading digital photos

When we used it in September, we only found it in the Imagination pavillion at Epcot, not sure if it is anywhere else. It is a Kodak machine, exactly like the ones in CVS and other drug stores all over. It really is that simple. It is only $14 bucks, and it took about 10 minutes. Totally worth the time/money!

Does your hotel have a business center with computers? If so you can bring your own (cheap) disks and burn your own photos to disk. Or you can buy a jump drive (also known as thumb drive, USB drive, etc.) and plug that into the hotel computer.

The big photo center in MK offers this service. We were there a few weeks ago and inquired about the service but ended up not needing it.

Re: downloading digital photos

I thought I'd read somewhere that Disney was moving toward exclusively "developing" digital photos by saving them to disks, and were going to stop developing "film" pictures. I'm not sure if this is true, or just wishful thinking from a company pitching digital cameras.

I just picked up a Digital SLR camera that uses a newer type of storage card. I finally printed out about 300 pictures (at a really high resolution), so the storage capacity is great. A card like that will certainly get you through at least a couple of days at the parks (even if your a power photog!).

Also, I think there are fairly compact machines now that you can buy that will burn a CD or DVD for you right from your camera or card. Just from browsing the ads in the paper, it looks like they've come down in price. Of course, if you bring your laptop with you, you can just dump your pix onto that at the end of each day.

Re: downloading digital photos

If you have pictures put on a CD, you can't add more pics to that same CD.

Last year, I had filled up my card, and did not know they put pics on CDs. I ended up buying a really expensive memory card.

Re: downloading digital photos

DH always brings his laptop on vacation, so he dumps the pics every night. But when I go with my girlfriends, I don't have any way to download. I'm going to look to see how much a new memory stick costs now. If it's as cheap as yours was Steph, it would be much better to go that way.
