Airfare Rates

If I book non-refundable airfare and, at a later date, find that the price has dropped for the same flight am I eligible to receive a voucher refund (or any kind of refund) for the difference?

I thought that I had read about this at one time. I am looking to book airfare for six of us in December. I can do it now, but I wonder about the costs so I haven't made the reservatons yet.

Typically, no, they won't do that. If they plunge, you could change them then, but most airlines have a $50 or $100 fee to change them, so it would have to fall further than their penalty to make it worth it.

Right now, I am pulling up rates of $200 round trip, non-stop from Boston to Orlando. That is about $50 less than what it has been in recent days. I have seen it as low as $175 from Boston, but that isnt too bad.

I think some do & some don't. I know Frontier doesn't, but my sister gets vouchers with American for the difference to be used toward a future flight within a limited time. Best to check with the specific airline.

ilvminnie, that's what my sister told me (She remembered that there was a certain amount of time that you had to receive vouchers, but she didn't know the specifics.)

Mickey, do travel agents still book airfares? I remember reading something in the newspaper about airlines cutting the commssions paid to agents and the travel agents were (legitimately, in my opinion) complaining), but I do ot know what the final result was. Is it best to make one's own air reservations or best to use an agent? I really have no idea!

Lopo, yes, most still do. Almost all of the airlines dropped commissions on domestic flights, so the agents don't make any money doing it, and most now charge a pretty hefty fee to make a reservation. I usually look on orbitz for prices, and then book directly through the airlines web sites. Even the online sites now charge fees as well, but the airlines don't.

At Mouseketrips, we only sell airfare through Disney as part of a package. We will help clients find airfare, but they just purchase it on their own. I would guess that alot of agents will start doing this in the future.
