Disney Dollars vs. Gift Cards

Each visit to the WDW we have our kids exchange their spending money to Disney Dollars. This year we are thinking that the Disney Gift Cards may be the better way to go. Anyone else have the pros and cons?

I would think that each would have concerns..if you're having your kids keep track of the DD or the GC both could be potentially wonderful and a nightmare..they could loose some of their DD's or they could just loose the whole gift card all together. If your child's pretty responsible I'd go with the GC..it just seems like less fuss!

Disney gift card????? Would like to know more! This is the first I've heard of them.

My mom gave me a gift card earlier this year(I am not a kid,well at heart) as a gift. I love it because I set aside an amount I want to spend....I go to the disney store and refill it before my trip. Also if you lose it and have your receipt,they will cancel the other and give you a new one(with what you had left). you can also use the card on disneyshopping.com...the other day I remembered I had some money still left on it and got some items online.

We exchanged cash for a Disney Gift Card at City Hall our last visit. IT was much easier than dealing with cash the whole trip. Really quite easy. You can also get them in gift shops and resorts gift shops.

Gift Cards are great, easier than handling cash or Disney Dollars, the only con would be is there a consumption date - which would be a certain allot time which the card is not used (if any) when the company starts to take a percentage of the funds off the card kind of like a surcharge.

doesn't look they do which is good.
Most store cards do... usually if not used for 6 months or so.

I shouldn't know this... why why... oh because that is the line of work I am in.... funny me...

Yes, I do it....but some carts only take cash. I know for a fact the cart in France only takes cash.

One con, the Disney Dollars can be turned back into cash at the end of the trip if you wish. Once you put money on the gift card, it is there. You can, of course, use it at another time, but it can not be removed from the card.

Not a big deal, but one you might consider.
