Re: The tipping thread

I heard this idea on another thread a long time ago and we have made it a really fun tradition!

A week or so before the trip, we haul out all the stickers and markers ect... from the art cabinet and let DD make all of the envelopes for Mousekeeping. She loves creating themes for the trip... it used to be princesses then it was "Chips & Dales" as she calls them... This year it is the more traditional characters.. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto... She really enjoys making them and it helps get us ready to go!

We have always left them on the nighstand or dresser but they are clearly marked so we have never had a problem either.

This is such a cute idea... I always worry that mousekeepers will not know that the $$$ left out is actually for them. I never was sure what we were supposed to do with it!

Re: The tipping thread

Mousekeeping leaves a card in the room with their name on it, usually near the sink area, and that's where we always leave the tip and it's always taken. We put the tip in the card and close it over the money so there's no question that it was left on purpose.

We had very good mousekeeping at POR last month so we always left a little extra. We made the beds every day before heading out (I have a thing about unmade beds and people seeing them--don't ask.) and she always remade it better than we did. I spilled makeup in one sink and couldn't get all of it out and it was gone when we returned that night. Plus, I got plenty of soap and shampoo to take home!!

I'm not Dana but I would tip him. I don't see him any different than a taxi or town car driver and I tip them for just the ride. My DH brings along a stak of 5s and singles just for tipping and he collects more during the trip. He calls it his tip wad. He's very good about sticking a 5 dollar bill in the mousekeeping card every morning.

We've used DME 3 times and have tipped each way and they always take it and thank us. I've seen a lot of people not tip too so I know they don't expect it.

I do tip the ME driver. I can't remember his name, but we have a ME driver who posted here awhile back- since his post, I have tipped the ME driver. My family arriving safely from the airport is worthy of an extra tip compared to handling our bags. Usually, I like my family more than our luggage (except when the kids are bickering).

Re: The tipping thread

I've always intended to bring envelopes and always forget (my DS's just aren't into the craft idea... I want a little girl... ) so we usually take a coaster and write quick thank you to Mousekeeping. I ask the boys to do it so they know they should be appreciative, and we've left it on the table or nightstand. They've always taken it and never have they taken any other money the trolls, I mean DS's, might have left laying around.

Thanks for the reminder about the ME driver, I think we missed him on the way home last year...

Re: The tipping thread

Next time, I will have ds decorate some envelopes. He loves cuting a pasting even though he is only 3. It will keep him occupied. Thanks for the idea.
