We drive the 18 or so hours most of our trips! It's not bad at all.

Honestly to drive to the airport, park and be there two hours early, fly time, lay over time, ME time, you'd be 1/2 way there!!!

Miss Disney we are doing exactly the same search search searching every evening every web site all the time- still hoping for that great deal and a direct flight. But I think its getting closer and closer to us just booking and to stop looking-its almost an obsession with DH!

That is so true and we talk about that every time we fly. We still like to fly because it's less work but we do end up sitting around a lot.

Drive to the airport--2 hours on average
Extra time for traffic--1 hour
Bag check and security--2 hours
Flight--2 hours

Total time 7 hours

If we drive and leave from my DILs it's 14-16 hours total.

Id wait for a little bit. I thought my tickets to the states were going to skyrocket because I wasn't able to buy them till pretty much a month before. They actually dropped 150.00 from the first time I looked.
Good luck with the non-stop flight. I keep joking they should do one from over here to the states but I don't think that could ever happen.

I live in CT and Southwest is the best. Maybe look to drive to another close by airport so you can get your direct flight. I fly from Windsor Locks to Orlando for $99 each way every year. Wait a little bit too like everyone else is saying.

I know it...airfare can be a huge trip expense if you don't grab it while it's hot. My best advice is pick a number that you are willing to pay and track the arifare trends. When you see it close to what you think you should pay, grab it and don't look back. Can you get lucky closer to the trip? Sure you can, but why chance it? You can also hit the lottery or get hit by a truck, but they aren't things we count on or factor into every day life. I beat myself up every year after buying the airfare. I find it cheaper sooner or later, but it's to late. This year I did just what I said for you to do. I picked a number that I was willing to pay and actually found it cheaper that that and grabbed it while I had the extra money to do it. I refuse to keep checking airfare and punish myself for not getting the cheapest possible...it's to much of a hassle and a headache to play the "what if I waited game" when the deed is done.

We'd love to use SWA, but the nearest departure city is about 2 hours or more away... and that's wihtout traffic! SWA is terrific!

I hate looking for airfare.. I just got a ding 2 days ago for $59 to orlando from philly and I was able to 3 tickets for $200.00 now I just need to find something coming home or Im stuck in Disney

This is exactly what I had to do because I was driving myself crazy. When the flights I wanted finally fell to a resonable amount, I grabbed them. I wouldn't have been able to sleep knowing we have this wonderful trip planned and could possibly end up with no airfare.

It was just worth my peace of mind to just go ahead and book them so I knew I had the non-stop flights with the times that worked best for me. I have to admit I do still keep checking my flights and they are still about $25 higher than what I paid. It's more of a fun thing now to check than a crazy panic check like before I got my tickets. Now I'm just checking to see if the SWA rates go down so I can get a credit.

I spent hours last night and this morning searching for flights to NY. I even low-bid on Priceline, but with no luck. Dana has a good system- pick a number and when you see it, book. You can't worry if it will drop lower- you will drive yourself crazy!
