Southwest Air

I am looking at booking on Southwest Air. I know I can get airfare at a much lower price if I choose the wanna get away rate. Has anyone ever done this before and what does it mean as far a seating? Thanks!

Re: Southwest Air

I love southwest air. mainly because of the low rates, but also if you chose to change your day/time they do not charge you a fee, you just pay the difference in the air or get a credit if lower.

Try to check in closest to the 24 hour mark before your trip that you can. This will give you a low boarding number. They board 1-60 A, B, C I think the first A 1-25 are reserved for business, but as long as you get in A or B you're doing fine. There will be seats for C but you may not be with your group.

The seats are roomy, planes clean. I have never had a problem with southwest. as a matter of fact, using them again in September. They are usually on time or early too.

Re: Southwest Air

My MIL brought my family over to SW and it was the best thing we ever did. I have never heard anything bad about them and the wanna get away is all she ever uses and never has ay issues.
The seating arrangement seems pretty cool too. Just check in 24hrs prior and your prettty much set. If you have kids you get seated after the A's are all seated. Best of Luck!

Re: Southwest Air

I absolutely love Southwest Airlines. I've never had a problem getting good seats and all of my family sitting together. The crew is always friendly, the planes are always clean and I've had nothing but great experiences with leaving and arriving on time. They are definitely my airline of choice.

Re: Southwest Air

I've used the Wanna Get Away rates several times before, and they're GREAT! You get to board just the same as everyone else (based on when you checked in). It's absolutely worth it to save some $$$. And I have never had a complaint with Southwest...I'm not kidding, not ONE complaint.

Same here!

I am surprised that I have been able to stay so positive about this company over all the times I've used them. Its seems like with every company I use frequently, there's at least one time when I'm not too pleased or something goes wrong.

Never with Southwest. I've been flying them regularly since I was 16 years old, and not a complaint yet!

Re: Southwest Air

We have also used Southwest before with no problems. We have always arrived and left on time or early. We always check in 24 hours early, so we have always been in the A boarding group. The flight attendants are usually fun, also. They cut up with you, especially with kids. No complaints here, either.

Re: Southwest Air

The highest rate gets to board first (usually 15 people or so) and they get a free drink at the cost of about an extra $100.00 per ticket. The get away fares are just cheaper. If you have some flexibility and travel with short notice you can sign up for the Ding fares that are released once a day. Usually a great savings but short notice and only on certain flights.

I have never been late (last flight from Vegas to Kansas City was 30 minutes early), canceled, or had lost luggage with SW. I fly them every chance I get. You still get two free checked bags!
