Re: Would you go???
Babs went on a cruise, once, that began before the kids let out for Christmas break. But, before she left, she spoke with her children's teachers. They gave her the OK to go. (Her children were in Primary school at that time)
Might be a good idea to speak with their teachers. Base your decision on what they say.

Re: Would you go???
I saw stay home and save for a bigger trip in march. SAve the money and sell the house. It's the smart thing to do...I know how tempting WDW is, but you can go in march. IF this was you only chance to go, I'd say go for it, but it's not. Being an repsonsible adults totally stinks doesn't it?

Re: Would you go???
I would have a very hard time passing up the free room....especially at the the Dolphin....so close to Studios and Epcot!!
I wouldn't think twice about taking the kids out of school (especially in the lower grades). I'm sure they will catch up fast! I love that week in Disney. They will be taking down the Halloween decorations and transitioning to the Holiday decorations - you might even see a Christmas tree or two!! The crowds are pretty low, and I think the Food and wine festival will be going on. So I guess you know how I would vote!! Can't wait to hear your decision!!!!

Re: Would you go???
i voted to stay home & save money, not to disrupt school.
here's why: 1. doing the parks with 2 little kids in tow and no extra adult would be a bit of a challenge for me. it might be fun for them...but very wearing for the mom. 2. the house being sold, not a for sure thing...would rather save the cash, than count on a maybe sale of the house ie: saving in gas $. 3. since you & your kiddos have gone every year for teh last 6 years, it's not like it's a 1st time trip. 4. if the kids are confused and disappointed you would go without them, so they would not miss school, would you have fun at wdw knowing they felt like that? 5. lastly....if you feel so conflicted about it all...you probably know what you should do...even though your heart wants to be in WDW, your mind seems to be telling you, it's not the best time to go. ~~ good luck.....it's a toughy! |

Re: Would you go???
I would go just because once you sell the house and move you might not have time to go in March. How long is the trip for? The whole school district will be closed for election day here so if yours is too and you go during election week that is one less day to worry about school.

Re: Would you go???
ok, the decision has been made. With the economy in the tank... and with my husband as a self employed owner of his company... we have decided that the best thing to do right now is not go to WDW.
Don't worry, we will go again at some point, but right now we do not have to worry about pulling the kids out of school, or even finding gas to get us there...

Re: Would you go???
I say go. I have always told my DH the only convention i want to go to is if it is in Disney. Or any where in Orlando! he asked me what i would do all day while he was busy? Well of course go to the parks. I think it would be interesting to go to the parks on my own and meet up with him later.

Re: Would you go???
I would stay home & save money. You just went in March and your're going again in March of next year which really isn't that far away. Do your kids have a school vacation in March? If they don't, you'd be pulling them out of school in Nov & March. That's too much school to miss even at grades 1 & 3. I am leaving in 9 days and am pulling my kids out of school for 7 days. The amount of makeup work my older child got (grade 7) to take with us is overwhelming! We even have to bring our laptop with us for her & pay for the service. If I had known this, I would've booked in during April school vacation. My 3rd grader doesn't have any to take with him but when he gets back there's going to be alot waiting for him.

Re: Would you go???
I say wait and take the longer trip, a short trip at Disney would just be a tease and make it harder to wait until March. However if it is mainly taking the kids out of school that worries you, I missed 2 weeks in a row in my 3rd year to go to Mexico with some older friend and then went to Europe with a friend for 3 weeks just before finals my senior year and still finished with honours, so teens can handle it, they just need to know that there does have to be a time set aside for school work so they do not fall behide, but hey that's what the plane or car ride are for.

Re: Would you go???
Don't go, save money for a trip in March, however I would on election night make that my night with the kids be a Disney night. Make your favorite Disney meal, watch the home movies or look through photos. Once the kids a tucked in bed sit down and go over the budget and call you travel agent and make the trip happen.
No you didn't go, but you are having a magical day with your family even if the hubby is gone. Make March happen!! Good luck selling your house.
