Re: Packing some grocery items? Tips please.

I usually drive over to Wal Mart and pick up some items there for our room.

However, in a regular hotel room, you can only get items for the Frig., only time you can get to a microwave is if you use the one in the food court so I never bother with those type of items. I dont buy too much b'cuz we end up buying snack items in the park or bring back leftovers to the room.

Jess, do you have the Dining Plan???? With the DDP, I wouldnt think you need to bring your own food?!

Well, we'll have the microwave, small fridge, and toaster in our room b/c it's a DVC studio.

We do have the dining plan but we use our 1 counter service per day for lunch, and our 1 table meal for dinner everyday. I really have to eat something as soon as I wake up in the morning or I feel really nauseous for the rest of the morning. When we get food for the room it's usually yogurts, fruit, OJ, milk, those small cereal boxes, a pack of bagels (or english muffins), and a small cream cheese container. I usually stock it with some waters too b/c you can never get enough water.

I actually decided to just send in the little grocery order to OKW so it will be in my room when I get there. It really isn't a lot of items and I don't want to fuss about it, the total was $30. for everything above and you just pay a $5. delivery fee.

I know you are talking breakfast, but if you get your room before 5 you won't have your stuff. I was going to order thru DVC until I read on the order form, the items won't be delivered until after 5. I was concerned that we would get a room early and not have the soda or juice until later.

And to be honest.....no body else read this, but wishy.......I was thinking I pay the 5 bucks for delivery and then when some one delivers it, I'll need to tip them too. I know I'm cheap, but anytime someone comes to my door, I feel I need to tip them. I figured I would save 10 bucks by walking to the "store" myself.

smart choice!

i think it's worth the extra little $ not to have to fuss with packing this stuff for a flight down.

this is what i would have done, if i were flying.

Re: Packing some grocery items? Tips please.

We are bringing snack for our stay - there are 3 of us and we really only need 2 bags, so the third bag will be for snacks. We got some of the tupperware boxes and will use then for food on the way there and then fill them with souveniers on the way back ;)

Most airlines inplemented a baggage fee this year. JetBlue does not charge for the first bag either (my mom is flying JB) but we are flying United and they now have a fee. We were lucky enough to have bought our tickets before the change!

Thanks for this tip!!! I just read someone saying that they pack hair spray and toiletries in these too. Great idea! We are allowed 1 bag per person on SWA so we should have plenty of room for some food items in one bag. We use our CS credits for lunch, so it would be great to have poptarts, granola bars and fruit cups to have in the room. I just couldn't figure out how to get them there safely!

Well, to be honest, I don't know if this is 'the norm' or not but when we've used the DVC grocery form in the past & our rooms were ready early our stuff was ALREADY in the fridge! This was a couple different occassions at SSR, as early as 1-2pm. Maybe they just write the 5pm thing so people don't EXPECT it, or because that's a "just in case" kinda thing? We'll see. Either way I don't really care what time they deliver it, so long as it's beofre 7am the next morning.

PS: I totally understand your other part.

You mean I walk an extra 400 yds for nothing????? I could see your point about not expecting it any earlier.
