Re: Laundry tip--Purex 3 in 1 sheets

I just wanted to let everyone know how terrific these were on our trip! They worked great and were so easy to pack. Even taking leftovers back with us was no problem, whereas I would normally toss out leftovers rather than pack open bottles in my luggage.

This was a SUPER packing tip, thanks!

I bought some and tried them at home...we have sensitive skin people in our house...they worked great! I'm taking some with us next week in case I need the, but I'm still not sure I want to do laundry while on vacation.

We took some with us a few weeks ago just in case we needed to do laundry. We didn't use them but they were so east to take that it really didn't add anything to our luggage. I think I'm going to get a couple extra boxes just in case Purex stops making them.

Re: Laundry tip--Purex 3 in 1 sheets

Grabbed a box for our Arizona trip. Worked out wonderful. Thanks for the tip. Never would have even looked for these until I read this thread. By the way, Target seems to have laundry detergent the cheapest out this way. I think I paid $4.99 for them.

I think you're right. I got mine in Target and think I paid the same. I didn't get the tub to store them in, just bought the refill pack and figured I'd store them in a zip lock bag.

Re: Laundry tip--Purex 3 in 1 sheets

Bought some today for $4. But they're called WashEZE. Friend of mine told me Arm & Hammer has one too so apparently there's a competitive market out there enough to start bringing the prices down some.

Yup.

You put the sheet in the washer first, turn the water on, then add the clothes. Then you toss the clean clothes and the sheet into the dryer.

It worked great!

Re: Laundry tip--Purex 3 in 1 sheets

Thoose 3 in 1 sheets are a really good idea! But I agree they are pricey.
I ussually just buy (at Target, not the take on plane size the bigger ones) small plastic bottles, they are ussually by all the traveling stuff. I fill them w/ my regular detergent and put the bottles in a big zip-lock bag! this way here no surprises on new detergents!
When you get home you can just rinse out the bottle and reuse it for next time!
And just bring a few dryer sheets in another zip-lock.

I do the same w/ my shampoo and contitioners, buy the bottles and fill!

Re: Laundry tip--Purex 3 in 1 sheets

I wish they had just a detergent version! We'll have to do diaper laundry while we're there since we cloth diaper and you can't use softener or anything on those as it makes the diaper lose it's absorbancy. For now, I'm just planning to take a travel size bottle of Tide Free. If any of you happen to be cloth diapering parents, I'd appreciate any advice you can give on long term traveling while using cloth. We'll be in WDW for 15 days so I'll need to do about 5 loads of diapers while we're there.

Even back when I was using cloth diapers on my oldest DS and disposables were very expensive, traveling was the only exception I had. I would have to use disposables on vacation.

Re: Laundry tip--Purex 3 in 1 sheets

I ended up not using them on vacation as they weren't free and clear (Scent free). Hopefully, someone will make a brand soon.

In terms of diapers. I would look into the earth friendly disposable diapers found at places like Whole Foods. It would be a lot easier especially if you are using a public laundry facility where people may not want to see diapers being washed. It would be well worth the cost and still be environmentally friendly.

Re: Laundry tip--Purex 3 in 1 sheets

Just saw this...noted! Will definately make sure I add it to my packing list. I have been in the habit of doing laundry mid trip for a few years now, so I'll be sure to pack these rather than buy them at the resort.

Re: Laundry tip--Purex 3 in 1 sheets

Thanks for the suggestions all but disposables are not something I'm willing to do. I'm just planning to take the travel size bottles and fill with our normal detergent for now unless someone knows of a better way to take detergent along. I don't think there's another option as far as detergent goes but thought I'd ask since you all are such efficient packers!

Re: Laundry tip--Purex 3 in 1 sheets

I love, love, love these sheets. I use them for my whites/sheets/towel laundry only as I don't use the dryer for most of the my other clothes. I love the scent these sheets have and leave on my sheets!
