Anyone know if walkie-talkies can be damage going through the large x-ray machines with your checked luggage ??

Mine don't work anymore since coming back from Orlando and I can't figue out why.

Thanks!!!

HMMMMMMMM This is interesting. I can' t think of any reason why they wouldn't work, unless they got jostled around to much! No don't be insulted but did you try putting fresh batteries in them? We've always carried ours with us on the plane. This year we'll be using our Nextels which should work in FLA scine they have gone "Nationwide"!

I packed the Motorola Talkabouts about 2 wdw trips ago.... and they were fine.... no problems... Maybe the luggage handlers were a bit to rough with your bags... its happens...

As for Nextel!!! PFFFFffft Its about time the direct connect went nationwide!!! They have been promising the company I used to work for... nationwide service 3 or 4 years ago! :devil
And they say there is no delay now... I doubt that... I think there is still a 3 second delay on the direct connect.

I don't know- with something as delicate as walkie-talkies,I'd rather put them in my carry-on or insist on a hands-on search than trust them to checked baggage.

Nope, it sure wasn't the batteries. Can't imagine all 4 being broken due to rough handeling:dazed
I wrote to motorola to see what they think and if they can do anything about it.

Thanks

Motorola says no way the x-ray machines did it. I still don't believe it.
There just can't be any other explination in my opinion.

Be safe and keep them in your carry-ons.

When we flew to WDW in June, we put our Motorola walkie talkies in our checked luggage, but put them in the middle of the clothes wrapped real good. had no trouble with them. Next time, I will be sure to put them in carry on.
