Disney Strollers

Can anyone tell me is it better to bring your own stroller or rent one? My daughter is 3 so probably won't spend much time in it, but it will be good for the end of day and to hold stuff.

Thanks for your help!

I just went to WDW in July with my 5 year old and we took a cheap umbrella stroller and we were glad to have our own. It was nice to have a stroller to take out to a bus stop for my DS to sit in while waiting for a bus. It can be a very long walk to a car or hotel room with a sleeping 3 year old in your arms. More than one night we pushed a sleeping guy back to our room.

I was thinking if we had to we would buy a stroller at WalMart once we got to Orlando and leave it or pass it off to another family on our last day, however, we had more than enough room to take one and bring it home.

We spent about $15 on our stroller, over 8 days that's less than $2 a day, it's far more than that to rent one every day. I think it may be $8 per day with a dollar or two back at the end of the day. We walked right by the stroller rental lines every morning and every evening, that was nice to avoid.

WELCOME TO DC!!!!

I can tell you that they charge 10.00 per day for the stroller... We found a umbrella stroller at the local market for 19.99 we saved 20.00, but not only that we found that our 5 year old would not have made it in the parks with out it!! I would encourage you to plan on a stroller... We used ours in the airport to help carry all the goodies we were coming back with!! Yup, DD (Disney Daughter) had to walk in the airport, my Mickey Phone and Lamp had to have a place to ride!! :)

I think I read in a guide book that Disney will not touch a stroller not theirs, because of the liability issue,so if the exit of a ride is different from the entrance of a ride, you might have a problem finding your stroller after you exit a ride. Then again,I could be wrong!!:D :D :D

The CMs will move private strollers as well as those rented from WDW if they are left in the wrong place or they need to tidy up the stroller parking area.

Single strollers are $8 per day; double strollers are $15 per day. These prices are current as of October 20, 2003 when I was there last.

CM helped us with our stroller all the time. Several rides we were told to start in the queue with our stroller and there would be another CM up a little farther who would take our stroller from us and park it for us. Worked well for us. More than once we came out of an attraction to find our stroller had been moved. It wasn't a problem, we just had to look a little for it. I noticed CMs would move strollers up as strollers were taken out of the bunch, just like a line.

Buy or bring one with you. It is cheaper, less likely to be stolen, and you will find there are many places outside the parks that you will wish you had your own. :D

Sorry about the confusion... now that you say that I was quoting Universal rates... we purchased the stroller before going to Disney and we too found that the stroller was very useful outside the parks!!

We had no problems with CM's moving our stroller! We even had to hunt for our stroller after Beauty and the Beast at MGM... WOW I could not beleive how many strollers there were... It was nice to have a unique stroller... easier to find!!

You will definately need a stroller even if your 3 year old loves to walk. I had my DD who was 6 at the time in a stroller. The walking is just to much for their little legs. As a bonus, it's a nice way to keep them where you can see them at all times. I was always afraid to get seperated from her after night shows and the stroller was a blessing. Whether you rent one or buy, it will be a blessing.

My DD is 9 now and there are times when she whines...I'm tired...my legs hurt...blah blah blah..I'd like to chuck her in a stroller then...LOL She would be mortified, so I control the urge.:laugh :laugh :laugh

We always bring our own and the CM's always move our stoller. I don't find too many times that they leave it in the same place we left it!! lol!!

Our son was 7 1/2 (he's only 50 lbs!!) rode in our 2 seater jogging stroller a lot of the time on our trip this past May. I also know a couple 9 year olds who like to sneak a ride every now and then on that trip, as well!! :laugh Heck, I don't blame them, I wanted to jump in a couple times.

On our trip in March, it will be the first time that we won't have a stroller for our DS (who is now 8). We will just bring the single stroller for DD who will be 4.

Disney Strollers

We just got back from our first trip with my 2,3 and almost 4 yr old grandchildren and we took our own umbrella strollers.
Because we needed three of them, we felt that umbrella strollers would work best for the ease of taking them in and out of cars, buses, the monorail and boats. They worked very well for us and in the parks the CM's treated them the same as Disney strollers.
For ID purposes, we did put something on each one that would help us find them quickly since the ones we used were fairly common in the parks. We never had a problem locating them.

They were also very useful in the airport and getting to and from Disney transportation. That was a big advantage over renting and having to leave them in the parks.

I felt it was the best way to go for our situation with 3 toddlers.
As much as they liked to walk, they were very happy to spend most of the time in the strollers. The few naps that they did take were in the strollers also.
