DST pt 2-The good, the bad, and the Whiney

Wednesday May 12th
Well Ashley had determined that since Epcots EMH was today, we would wake up bright and early and go to it. How much do you want to bet we didn't make it for EMH?? Yeah it was about 9am when I was eating breakfast bars and drinking mickeys really swell coffee in the room. OK now I want to know, who really wants this coffee?? Mickey should be ashamed! This coffee is not really swell. He should just call it, decent, or bearable in the morning. I don't know after all the variations I tried on that coffee it never made a diff. Ok anyways by about 10:30 we were on the bus and at Epcot. It was fairly busy at Epcot, but nothing too drastic. I think the lineup for test track was 45 min and since Ashley had never ridden it, that was the first stop. Since we always ended up taking the backside in, we always had to go through the fast pass machines, we decided to pick up a fast pass first. Since we had fast passes I said lets come back, but oh no she decided the line wasnt too long so we stood in stand by. Well she loved it, and since we were in the front we bought the pic off of it. Of course we were making dumb faces since it was the barrier test. Then after that off to mission space! I love that ride, but I think the couple we were on it with were a little confused about pushing the buttons. Now I know the computer does a manual over ride if you don't push them. After watching me and Ashley they pushed their buttons second time around. We went to the Land and got fast passes for living with the land, as it was 101 (disneyspeak for delayed) and then the whining set in. I will never have to have kids as long as I have ashley! Wow it was hot and she was hungry, a deadly combination. We headed to world showcase, since the sunshine food festival was surprisingly packed. Of course I had to stop into the imagination institute and see figment. She cheered up for a bit and we both sang one little spark along with the eye chart.
Well after that we headed to the liberty inn in the american pavillion and got Ashley a cheeseburger. She wanted a Taco salad, but the Cantina de San Angel had a line as long as test track! I decided not to get anything at Liberty inn, if I wanted a cheeseburger WDW is not the place I come for it. I went to the Tangerine Cafe and got a Shawarma lamb sandwhich, now that was good! I did not think it would be soo filling, but it was! I also got a piece of Baklava, which Ashley ate most of it. I have to say though $3 for a piece of Baklava is outrageous, but the look on Ashleys face made it worth it.
After that we went back to the land, something Ashley didn't care too much for, I think it was cause our CM didn't do to great of a job. Obviously there was some college program kids workin the attraction, as one of them saw my college program bag and asked me about it. He told me how cool my bag was and asked me how to get one. Now when my boat is taking off, thats not the best time to ask anything, so I blurbed out, I got it in the mail. Well I did, but how can I explain I'm a campus rep and I get it free in 2 seconds?? Ah well after that off to test track. Now I have a fast pass, why is it that when I do, test track has technical diffuculties? Ok by this time Ashley is way tired and just wants to go back to the room.
Its about 6:30 and we're back in the room, I have a message on my cell phone. Uh oh it's my credit card co, they've noticed some unusual spending on my card, so I have a temporary hold on my account. SO now I have to either use the room phone, a 75 cent charge for a 1800 number?!?!? Whats the deal with that?? if it's a toll free number why should I pay 75 cents to use disney phones? I'm just glad making PS are free from disney phones! Anyways I try to use my cell phone but my battery dies, we have ps at chef mickeys for 8pm, so I am trying to get it all worked out. Well I ask to borrow Ashleys cell phone, now here is the fight of the night. She looks at me and goes, well I don't have any minutes left, so if you want to pay my cell phone bill then sure you can use it. Ok, I'm paying for this trip as it is, and we're using this credit card. It now has a temporary hold on it, so we won't be able to use our primary source of funding and you have the nerve to say that to me? Needless to say she apologized, but I was still very po'ed, so I went to use a payphone in the lobby. Ok now a pay phone can dial a toll free number for free, but wdw hotel phones cant, hmm.... Since I was still pissed I used a resort phone in the lobby and called our room. Now I know this was wrong, but don't piss me off! I pretended to be the front desk and had stated how the credit card cannot be processed, so unless another form of payment was used we would have to vacate the hotel immediately. Ashley was scared and started crying, I eventually told her it was me and she hung up. I went to the gift shop and bought her the pink shirt she had been eyeing and went back to the room, holding it up in front of me as a sheild. She asked my why I did that, I had to respond I didn't think she understood the severity of the card being put on a hold. If we didn't have that card we didn't have money to pay, simple as that. For the mere fact that she brushed the hold off as something of little importance just made me upset, also with her little comment just well....ok I'm off that.
Did I mention by the time all this was said and done it was 8pm? Our ps at chef mickeys was 8pm. So we had to call and get it postponed to 9:15, bad idea! Well we then jumped onto the magic kingdom bus and headed to the gates. We went immediatley to buzz lightyear and whipped Ashleys tail! It was soo funny. We got in immediately, since the wait was 5 min. As soon as we got control of the joy stick we were off shooting the z's! Well lets just say Ashley is a sore loser and was pissed at me 2 min into the ride. She looks over at my score and I already have 100,000 pts and she just made 1,700. By the end of the ride I had well over 300,000 and I think she got up to 17,000. She claimed I had some special cm codes that I input into the controler to double my score, oh and that I knew where all the "special" z's were. Well I did, but thats not the point! Oh and when did they put a camera in there?? I think thats cool, but the flash blinded me! Now I will have to watch out for that, but at least buzz has a real gift shop instead of the cart! Well now it was time to head to the contemp and go to chef mickeys.
Well the CR, what can I say?? I would like to stay there, but only in the tower and maybe for one night. The theme was too modern art deco for my taste, but thats how it's supposed to be I guess? This would make the 2nd hotel, Ashley decided she would not like to stay. It wouldn't be until the end of the trip where she decided that maybe she would stay in the poly and Cr for a night. Ok now onto chef mickeys, well what can I say about chef mickeys?? OK the characters were great, as for the rest of it, well I would have to pass. I know with character meals its more about the characters, but the food couldve been more edible! The murals on the wall looked more like bootleg versions of mickey and friends, the kind you find on local daycares and such. I went to get some prime rib, boy was that a mistake. THere was a charred hunk of meat left, I looked at it and asked if there was any prime rib. To my surprise that charred hunk was the prime rib, I unfortunatly got a slice and wow taste like my moms pot roast. Wait thats giving it too much credit! I love my moms pot roast, I just had it last night. This was like week old moms pot roast, that had obviously spoiled in the fridge, but was reheated to get rid of some of that stale taste. I had to drown it in horseraddish for it to taste decent. Lets see, the cod was too fishy, but it was probably from super wal marts freezer, so I can't blame em. Mickey shaped Ravioli, horrible! The only thing edible on the menu was the parmesean mashed potatoes. The dessert wasnt even to great. We got some great pictures, but for $50, I would prefer food over mickey. While I was eating all I could think about was how good Ohana's was last night, a thought which would occur over and over in my head everytime I ate another meal there. Well while this was going on, Ashley kept bugging me about going back to MK, since it was the evening EMH. This would be the only EMH we went too!
So we walked from the CR to MK, since the monorails had to stop at the Poly and GF I thought best to walk, and best to get all that fat and bad food out of my system! SO here was the plan, we had an hour and a half to takle the MK that night. So we started in frontierland (cutting through liberty square) and took the west side. First of course was haunted mansion, it seemed a little smokier in the spider section that night. The we ran to BTM, which I love at night, but you miss some of the Audio animatronics that you see in the daytime. Then Splash Mountain, which ashley did not want to sit in the front. She had gotten Sp M mixed up with Journey to Atlantis in Seaworld, so she was scared to get soaked. Well we sat in the front and barely got wet. Now over to adventureland, with 30 min and counting, so PotC! I really wished theyd put the original theme song back in, I can barely understand some of the recorded speech. Oh well. Down to the last 10 min, Jungle cruise would end our night! The CM, Joe was great, we sat down and he said how the fam who was in there with him were just talking about their deepest darkest fears, then said it was our turn. I looked at him and said my deepest darkest fears are bad cast members, cheesy boat rides, and really horrible corny jokes! He looked at me and laughed, then asked if we were Cp's. I told him I used to be and how Ashley is a future Cp. Well corny jokes abound, which Ashley always loves and laughs at. I thanked Joe as we got off and told him to have a good one. With that last ride we left, back to PO-FQ. For the first day, it seemed so long to me, Ashley had said it felt so short. I will have to admit, before I close this section of the trip report, I have a bad confession. This was our first day, and I loved being back at wdw, but in my heart I wasn't feeling it. I was actually bored with wdw, I could feel it. I was getting scared at that thought, but I never told Ashley. So back to the wonderful king bed, dreaming of what to do tomorrow, and hoping for no more restaurant dissapointments. I shoulda just made PS's for Ohanas again, since more and more restaurants would just end up dissapointing.....

Re: DST pt 2-The good, the bad, and the Whiney

Here's the pic of us on Test track, the more I resized it the more I looked like Michael Jackson. I think it's the face I'm making!
Anyways I forgot to mention how the garden fest was truly beautiful! I wouldve gotten some shots of the topiaries but it was really crowded that day. Oh well hopefully I'll get the pics developed soon!
And yes Dana, it was a stressful day, I don't know what was up with Chef Mickeys though, I guess we just went too late??

Re: DST pt 2-The good, the bad, and the Whiney

I tell ya Tink, Late PS are no good! Then again the food didn't taste all that good for leftovers either. I read in the places not to eat section (after I came back) that most of the buffets at wdw arent good.
Anyways I think I will stick to breakfast myself from now on!
So how does it feel to have only 8 days left?? Excited yet?? ha why did I even ask that dumb question???
Oh and yeah Dana, day 2 was the worst day, after that it got better and better. It wouldn't be til spectro that I would find my disney spirit though....

Maybe its because when chef Mickey's was DTD it wasnt Buffet style. We do love the breakfast there :) and all the other buffets we have had meals at have been good, like Crystal Palace for dinner :)

Isn't it great to be at Epcot during the Flower Fest??? We had only gone to WDW in May, and so we thought Epcot was ALWAYS decked in flowers like that! We will try to go at that time of year every year jsut to enjoy the plantings!
