Ok,
Here it is. Five days to go, and both DD, ages 7 and 10, have absolutely no idea where they're going. They truly believe they're going to the Jersey Shore to spend a week on the beach with their parents and grandparents. They keep telling my mother how much they're looking forward to it. Also, my brother and his family just got back from WDW Friday night. Rachael(the 10 year old) didn't want to hear about their trip because she said it would make her jealous! All the time, I'm playing with their heads. For example, yesterday I picked up some Disney replacement heads for their electric toothbrushes. This is great fun, and also very nerve-wracking. I looked at my original reservations the other day. I started planning this last August, and have only until Friday morning to keep it up. Then, it's off to Orlando, when the real fun begins. :D :p :) :laugh

Jeff, good thing I don't live by you, I would have told your kids several times by now that you were going. I am really bad at keeping WDW secrets. Our neighbors did the same thing as you are doing, planned it for over a year, and I blew it three days before they left. They didn't speak to me for a month. I don't know how you are doing it, but I am sure it will be a great surprise for your kids, and they will enjoy the trip even more. Make sure to send us a picture!

I've tried keeping our trips secret before, but it never lasted more than a few hours. I am SOOOOO weak. :laugh I truly admire your willpower, Jeff. Hope you guys have a great time! Can't wait for the trip reports!

:D Jeff, have a great time. I still can't believe my trip in early June came and went so quickly. I know a lot of people who have stayed at the HRH and loved it. I can't believe you are keeping this from your kids. I could never do it; I just start blabbing, blah blah blah. By the way, I was at the Jersey shore this weekend and it was beautiful, but its not Disney.

I admire your keeping it a secret for so long. I was curious though, are you going to tell them the morning of departure? If you are driving to the airport yourself, I would just keep driving there until one of your kids realizes that you are going the wrong way. Then you can spring the surprise! Since your brother and his family just returned, your kids must be going through that "why can't we go there too" stage of feeling deprived. Wish I was the fly on the wall when they do find out. Let us know of the details, I am sure few of us could pull this off to the end and would love to know the outcome as well as a trip report. Enjoy your stay! :) :)

I booked a 7 a.m. flight out of Atlantic City Airport on Friday morning. We're going to the shore Thursday night. Then, we'll just wake them up at 4 a.m. and tell them to get in the car for a family adventure. When they figure it out is up to them, but they will not be told until they figure it out themselves.

Just as soon as I found out for sure (confirmed reservations :D) that we were definitely going to WDW, I wanted to go wake my son up out of bed (school night) at 10:30pm at night to tell him, but my husband wouldn't let me and then he woke up before I did the next morning and told my son before I even woke up! :(
(I had to forgive him though because he was just as excited as I was :love:.

Just from reading your post, you can feel the excitement! Your kids are going to be so happy when they find out where you are really taking them!

WOW, How exciting! I give you lots of credit keeping the secret. that takes willpower! I was so excited about my Hubby's surprise B-day party I gave him last March, I almost slipped many times. I think I would just burst if I tried to keep WDW a secret! I'm excited for you and your Family. Have a wonderful Magical time. Looking forward to hearing all about it when you come back!

I don't know how you do it...my husband & I get so excited & we just want to tell the whole world!!! For us, my 16-year-old included, the anticipation is half the fun.

that is a great idea surprising them. It takes a lot of strength to hold out for so long, I know I wouldn't be able to. My suggestion is to have a camera ready at all times to catch the look on their faces when they finally realize where they're going. Have fun, i've only got about a 100 days left, but it seems like forever.

Oh, I know you are totally excited and on the edge.......just thinking about the magical moment that the kids realize where they are going!!!! That moment of surprise on those little faces is worth it all!:D

There is noooooooooo way that I could have kept the secret.... I get excited just when I am looking at the website to see if there are any new deals..... :)

They will be soo happy when they find out.. :)
