My DH, 7 yr. old GS, and I flew from Louisiana and met our married daughter who flew from Texas. We took Happy Limo to the AKL and it was great! I had gotten a discount for a standard room which we were told would overlook the parking lot. Imagine my excitement when I discovered we were upgraded to a savannah room at the end of the loooong hall. My daughter had dinner with some friends who work at Disney, so my DH,GS, and I ate at Boma. I found the native foods too spicy for me and the noise level was high but generally it was a good buffet. My GS's favorite place was the pool so he stayed there a lot. On Wed., we went to MK. My DH met us later. We were able to do all the rides we wanted that morning and were out of there by noon. Even though the heat is like ours at home, I don't spend time in it. We went back to AKL so the grandson could swim and we could rest before our PS at HV in Disney-MGM. We ate a light lunch at The Mara, but the selections were very limited. It took us an hour to get to MGM by bus. (We had to wait 30 min. Buses were a problem except when we went to AK-next door.) The buffet was hot and fresh and the service was excellent. We finished just in time to get a "wall" seat for the car parade. After it was over we walked right in to Indiana Jones show. We checked out some other rides, but at 7:30 we went on to Fantasmic. We wanted a back seat away from the loud noises and water and to be able to get out quickly. It was great,as usual. If you have a child, it's good to connect with the PS so you don't have to stand in line.
On Thurs. just DD and I went to MK. We got fast passes for Buzz and then she got me on SM! I think I almost pushed a hole in the floor! Then we had a 10 min. wait for Buzz. Next got pictures and autographs from Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum (DD's favorites) and then used FP for Buzz again. This time DD got Hero or whatever is the top score. (She's a champion cowboy shooter in Texas so I wasn't surprised.) Then we went to Toontown and got autographs from Pooh, Eyore, and Tigger. Then we went shopping. We left around 12:30. The DH and GS had had a great morning around the pool. He swam again with his aunt. We left at 4 to go to Epcot. We had PS at Garden Grill at 6. We had time to do Spaceship Earth (GS's favorite) and some games. We love Garden Grill because the characters are so attentive. There's Mickey, Pluto, and Chip and Dale and they came to our table at least 3 times! After dinner my DH went to find a bench for Illuminations (bad back) while we went on Imagination before it closed and then visited a few countries before finding DH in England. That show is awesome! On Fri. we were up early for 8AM PS at Donald's breakfast in AK. We were among the first in. Really enjoyed this in 2002 because so much attention was given to GS. This time we were told to get our food quickly because the characters were coming and would not come again. Only Donald took some time to tease. The "attendant" was rushing them on. We then went on the Safari ride and were able to see a lot of animals because it was still early. DH went back to AKL, DD found the more exciting rides and GS and I went to the dinosaur dig. DD met us at 11:30 and we went to see Lion King. We left because DD had to meet Orlando friends at 3. GS swam. At 4, DH, GS, and I went to Epcot. We did Spaceship Earth (again), Imagination, and Living Seas. Went to The Land for a quick supper, but most places were closed so we had to make do. GS and I took the boat ride. Sat. morn was the highlight of the trip for GS. He went on the pirate cruise which leaves from the marina at the Grand Floridian. He cruised from 9:30-11:30 searching for pirate treasure. DD, DH, and I had breakfast at the Grand Floridian and DH went back to AKL while we explored. GS was all smiles with his treasure of "pirate" things and even an eye patch to go with his bandana. We went back to AKL and left GS with DH while we went DTD to shop. Got back around 5 and DD took GS to swim and do a crafts project for Father's Day. All of us ate at Boma again. The ribs were great. We did the night viewing of animals while DH sat by the inside fireplace. Sun. was Father's Day. After giving DH his gifts, DD, GS, and I set off to MK. We rode the horsedrawn streetcar down and took off to Tomorrowland where we got a FP for Buzz, rode Buzz, and then did the speedway. Next DD and GS did teacups and then we all went back for Buzz. Then they rode the Barnstormer. After doing PC, it was 11 so we met DH at the boat dock and went for a 12 PS at Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL. We explored after lunch and decided that next time, we would stay there. DD went back to Epcot to ride Test Track and agreed to meet us at MK at 7 for the Spectromagic and fireworks. GS dislikes noise of fireworks so he stayed at Simba Clubhouse for the evening. Loved it because they had all the latest Playstation 2 games. DD and DH went to ride TMRR while I secured a bench for Spectro. DD went to ride SM while DH sat on bench and I went to CBJ. We just "people" watched until the parade. Afterwards DH went back to AKL to get GS and DD and I went to get a place for Wishes. We stood to the right of the carousel when you're facing the castle so we were able to get right in to Philharmagic. Went back to AKL and found DH and GS sound asleep. Mon. was our last day. DD talked GS into trying TT at Epcot and I went to the laundry so I could pack clean clothes. They were to meet me at MGM at l0:30. Left DH to check out. After going to Epcot, GS decided against TT so they rode SE again and met me. DD wasn't feeling well, but thought she could make it. Got a FP for Little Mermaid and went to view Walt show. Then did Little Mermaid and Muppets. By this time, DD was really sick, so we went back to AKL where GS swam one last time and she had to lay down on one of the couches because we were checked out. Decided it was some medication she was taking combined with the sun. Happy Limo came at 4:15 to take us to the airport. After no rain the entire week, the storms came and made havoc with our flights. DD was 2 hrs. late leaving and we had to take a different flight from Orlando and Atlanta. It was midnight before we got home. I'm already planning for my next trip. Sorry about the length. Feel free to cut. ![]() |

Re: Trip for June 15-21
We would never want to cut any details out of a trip report! We love the long, detailed ones best. It sounds like you all had a very fun time, and everyone got to do what they wanted. Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks for the trip report! I can just feel the water in the AKL swimming pool! How great to have a little GS to help slow things down!

Re: Trip for June 15-21
I just got back on wed! am going thru withdrawal! wanna go back.... had a blast. my nephew got to meet buzz, woody, mickey, etc. almost starved to death. my family nad i are vegetarians, so findig good food besides fries and pop was hard. the local taco bell was gross! read the whole story in the "places not to eat". it was disgusting.BUT...the good times i had with my husband,brother/wife/kids,parents was all worth it. but i think WDW should have more vegetarian oriented food. it was soo hard to find food at the parks. we all stayed at CSR, and it was awsome! it was huge, the people were sooooooo nice and helpful. had some mousekeeping complaints but nothing major. Very expensive though. i spent way more than i thoguht i would, but is ok. but for next time , i need to save more for it. i told my hubby that i wanted to go again. hopefully we will in the near future. the weather was unbearable though. too humid and hot. so maybe next time we will go in nov or dec-maybe?!?

Re: Trip for June 15-21
Sepa, Nov. is a great month to go especially if you wait until Thanksgiving week because all the Christmas decorations are up. The only reason we went in June was because I got such a great discount for AKL. Usually have enough sense to stay away in the summer.
