Disney Wonder 4 day cruise - Part 2

Day 4 - This was our day at sea. I headed to the spa for a haircut while the rest of the family headed to the pools. After the spa, I opted for a nice relaxing breakfast at Beach Blanket where I sat outside and watched the day begin to unfold. My youngest DD wanted to go to the Oceaneer Club while the oldest DD headed to the arcade with DH. MIL headed to the presentation on the disembarkment procedure. The information is also shown throughout the day on TV. Lunch was the seafood buffet at Beach Blanket and my DH said it was great. I wasn't hungry (and am allergic to seafood of ANY kind) and my oldest DD decided on pizza. After lunch, everyone but my MIL headed to the afternoon showing of Disney Dreams. It got the girls out of the sun for awhile and broke up the day. The show was very good. Meanwhile, my MIL was touring the galley, taking a class on animal towel folding (I think) and shopping. After the show, my youngest was hungry and the oldest wanted to swim again. Unfortunately, when we arrived on deck 9, it was raining and the pools were closed. That is probably the only negative thing I can say about having an inside stateroom, you have no idea what is happening outside. So, back to the room to watch a movie, eat some snacks and start packing. We then decided to do some shopping before dinner and just walk around and relax. Dinner was at Parrot Cay. The food was just as good except that we were in a little bit of rough weather and feeling the movement of the boat was a little hindering. In fact, my MIL left dinner early and headed back to the room. I personally found that when I was feeling the ship too much, that being in the room made it worse. After dinner, we put the luggage outside our stateroom and went to bed.

Day 5 - We had to force the girls to get up so that we could be out of the stateroom by 8:00 am. We had breakfast at Parrot Cay where we ordered from the menu (usually was buffet except for this last morning). By about 8:30 everyone had pretty much vacated the restaurant and we stood in line to disembark. After just a few minutes, we noticed the line wasn't moving. The captain then made the announcement that due to a suspicious (?spelling?) package, the terminal had been evacuated and no one was allowed to leave the ship until further notice. Nothing ever came of the package but we ended up not getting off the ship until about 11:10 a.m. DISNEY WAS GREAT throughout the whole delay. They brought out bottled water, tea, coffee, sandwiches, donuts, coloring paper and crayons and even had additional characters come out to entertain everyone. During the delay, passengers flight information was noted and airlines notified so that appropriate changes could be made as needed. Disney was very efficient and I had even heard someone say that they would begin letting the 3 day cruise passengers on at the scheduled time of 12:00 noon. I felt bad for the staff that was trying to clean and prepare for the next cruise while we were still on board and in the way.

All in all, it was a very memorable vacation and we look forward to another!

Re: Disney Wonder 4 day cruise - Part 2

Disney sounds like the handled the situation perfectly. No one likes delays, but at least they tried to make thebest of it for you. It sounds as though you all will be going back by the tone of your report. I am glad you guys had a great time. Thanks again for sharing the report.
