Sandi's Second Trip
This trip was a combination of WDW fun and house hunting.
Thursday evening as I was packing I couldn’t find our lanyards with passes. Like a lightening bolt it hit me that we left them in the safe at POR last weekend. DH and I did the “I thought you checked the safe” to each other and then he informed me that he had a $100. bill tucked away in his pass. So, I called the POR resort directly (at like 7pm) and was patched to lost and found, which is only open M-F, 9-5. I left a very detailed message and all my contact numbers, personal cell, work cell, DH cell, my office, DH work, & home. I did not want to miss that call. Friday I called at 9am and every hour there after. I left the same message at 9, 10, 11, 12 and 1. I told the machine we were on the way to WDW, and where we were staying this time. While we were on the road at about 2:30, WDW called. The passes were not turned into lost and found, and there was someone in that room so they had to wait to look in the safe. About ½ hour later they called back and had the passes and the $100. Because it was cash we had to pick it up by 5pm. We were just south of Kissimmee, and knew we would make it. Then we hit traffic! The construction on Osceola between the turnpike and WDW had traffic at a stand still. Finally we got past the botched up intersection and were racing the ticking clock. We went straight to POR. I told my story to the guard who just waved me through (no real security with that guard at the gate). And walked through the lobby at 4:40pm! I repeated the story to guest relations while DH tried to contact the lost & found CM on the cell. Finally, we connected and I had my passes and the $100. Amazing. We headed out to CBR to check in. We got an upgrade to a king bed and water view. We were in Jamaica building 42. I could have done without the king bed and the water view to be nearer to either the parking lot, bus stop or food court. We relaxed a few minutes before we headed out to MNSSHP. We got to the MK about 6:20 and people were going in. Signs at the gate said "sold out". We also heard from a CM that all the nights for 2 weeks prior to Oct 31 were sold out (not confirmed). I have never been to a special event that was sold out, and I could tell the difference. There were a lot of people, and strollers and kids, but only in certain areas. There was hardly anyone in the area between Tea cups and Dumbo. We walked right onto the Pooh ride, Snow White and Peter Pan, we usually skip this area because we don’t have kids and long lines. No lines tonight. Plus, this area had a lot of water on the ground, puddles really, and it didn’t rain (odd). We found all the people in toon town, you couldn’t breathe or move there. We also walked right onto the Pirates, Haunted Mansion & Thunder Mountain. Buzz Light year was closed down due to technical problems, so was the riverboat with the special entertainment. We had a great night, and got lots of good treats. Saturday we headed to Trails End for breakfast, we were supposed to meet the rest of the family there, but ended up eating alone, Dad was not feeling well, and my sister & family were sleeping in. After breakfast we visited with my parents in the campground. We were going to the Food and Wine festival but because we had a big breakfast and had PS for Ohana we didn’t go. Instead, we headed out to house hunt. We found several houses we liked in Davenport and Haines City. We were amazed that we could get a new house, cheaper than an older home. It seems like new developments are popping up out of the orange groves. Any one from this area would know what I mean. We even headed to Winter Haven to look at a new development. We had to take a detour because the main road was washed out. The detour took us around Lake Hamilton and we were amazed at the level of the lake. The docks were under water, you could see the lake all the way to some of the houses. Cows were in water knee deep and tree cuttings lined the street. At one point the road had sandbags on both sides! These were beautiful homes and it was sad to see the mess. I do not know what the realtor was thinking sending us this way because It wasn’t a selling point. No way were we even going to consider a house here. Ohana’s was great. Mom and Dad joined me and DH. My only complaint was we all felt rushed. Our PS was at 8:20pm we were seated at 8:00pm. We gave our drink order and before the drinks were delivered the food started coming out. We took our time, even though the CM asked several times if we were done. We weren’t going to shovel the food in just so they could seat another party. In spite of the pushy CM we enjoyed ourselves. We left Ohana and went out to the pool area to watch the fireworks. We had a perfect seat, A great view of the show and we were near a speaker so we heard the narration also. We stayed long after the fireworks ended, just talking. Sunday, we slept late. After packing up (and checking the safe) we went to DTD and did some shopping before heading home. Next week, DH has a second interview, so we are headed to WDW again. This time we are going to Epcot for sure. 3 weekends in a row at WDW! Wow!!

Glad you checked the safe, this time. lol. What an enjoyable way to househunt - look at a house, go down Splash Mountain, look at a house, ride Space Mountain. lol. Thanks for the report. I'll be looking forward to Epcot.

Sandi -
Sounds like another enjoyabel WDW weekend. Glad you got your paases and money back...there are a few honest people left it seems. I got a huge Mickey postcard at work over the weekend. I was off and finally got to see it today. Was that one from you? If so, thanks for making a dreary Monday magical. Looking forward to hearing next week's adventure at WDW. Good wishes to your Dh on the second interview. ![]()
