Trip Report Nov 10 - 16

Cast: Me (35), ds (5), dm (62) and a friend of the family (50)

This was a follow up trip that was supposed to be to visit a family member who ended up passing away 2 weeks before our trip. We all decided to go anyway as my mom and friend really needed a vacation. I was just at Disney in July with my family and stayed at POP.

So, this time because everyone needed their own space and dm wanted a kitchen we could not afford to stay onsite. We stayed at the HIFS. This hotel was really nice and the staff professional. If a person had to stay off site I would recommend this place.

After staying off site though I would be back to Disney all the way. Staying on site it just the way to go. I did not care for having to park in the parking lot at MK. What a pain. I was spoiled by the bus system before.

We only had 2 days to spend at Disney this trip. We went on Thursday 11/11. It sure was packed -Ugh. I was expecting walk on's and got signs for 50 minute waits for Peter Pan and Pooh. We got fast passes for PP but waited for Pooh and it was only about 30 minutes. It bugs me when they mess that up. Back to the start we went to Buzz upon entering (it was an EE day but of course we were not onsite so we could not join in) and then COP (yay!). After that it was time for our PS at CP. Great again - I love that place. Then we went over to Fantansy land and did MickeyPHM. Got FP for PP and went to Pooh. Sat and rested (my mom and friend needed to rest a alot) then went 2 times on the TTA. Back to PP to ride. They headed over to toontown while I got FP for Splash Mountain. I took the train back to meet them and took ds on Barnstormer. We rode the train 2 times around to give everyone a rest again. Then we rode SM, ate dinner, watched the parade, fireworks and the day was over.

That is one thing about fall hours - the day is over too soon. I found myself being nastalgic about our July trip in the dead of summer. It sure felt no busier in July than it did this day in Nov. Also it sure made a difference to travel with my family who are all able to stand criss crossing the park for rides and FP. When you are with those who need to rest a lot it is hard to get much done. It was good that since I had just gone it July I was able to at least try to slow down - but in reality for a park commando like me it was very hard to take.

We spend some time in between park trips and Downtown Disney. Boy, I loved that place. Disney feel without having to pay for it.

The other park day was Monday the 15th. This was the day I wanted to try to do 3 parks in one day. We started at AK with the intent on seeing the safari and bug's life, but we worked in a character breakfast. So we started with breakfast and rented my mom a wheelchair as she had some pain in her foot. She complained about the WC the whole time. DS did the boneyard which he loved (and we did not make it to that in July) for quite a while while dm and df rested. I went over to Dinosaur and thought it was boring. We went on Bugs and then safari by then it was lunch time and then we left. I liked AK better this time. Maybe it was because I was not bent on only rides this trip.

We decided that since dm really wanted to see the countries in Epcot they would just go there and I would take ds to MGM. This worked out great. DS and I got to move at a faster pace and them slow. Also ds would not have enjoyed the shopping. I dropped them off at the Boardwalk to get to Epcot which worked great and then MGM was right across the street. MGM was not crowded at all. It was great. We walked on to ToT, did beauty and the beast. Snack and Sci Fi (ds's favorite place), Indiana Jones, Muppets, Pizza Planet Arcade and started to see the Osborn lights (cool) but then DM called to pick them up.

That's the jist of our Disney part of the trip. Also I forgot to mention that we got 1 day park hoppers from Ebay to be able to accomplish what we wanted to our second day. 2 of the tickets were 4 day passes with 1 day left and 2 were just 1 day hopper coupons to exchange at the window. I was relieved they all worked.

Now, I'm off to the dry wasteland of having no Disney trip in site for years. What will I do?

Julie

Re: Trip Report Nov 10 - 16

Welcome home! I am glad that you got to see a different kind of WDW with little waits and a tad of relaxation. Glad those passes worked...I would have been a wreck! You will have to post often and read reports until you start planning again. Then again, it's never to early to start the planning stages of a WDW trip. Thansk for sharing the report

I too am a commando and can totally relate. My sister who has trouble walking and walks much slower than my DH and kids will be with me on my next trip. It sounds like you got a lot done and had alot of fun on your short trip. I began planning this trip a few months after I got home from my last one, so if you are feeling blah when you get home--start planning the next one. It will give you something to look forward to and help pass the time until your next trip!
