Dopey's Great Adventure, Part II

Day 3

Animal Kingdom Day. We arrive there at 8:45. The park has been open for 45 minutes but is almost deserted. We love this park. One of the first things to do was, of course, 'It’s Tough to be a Bug'. It was just as much fun as we remembered. New to us was the Primeval Whirl. I must say this ride is not for me. I couldn’t wait for it to stop. But then there’s Dinosaur. I felt it was better than the last time I was on it. I loved that one. I had to do it again.
Kali River Rapids – great as ever.
There seemed to be a whole lot more animals around this time. We thoroughly enjoyed our day here and left around 2 pm for poolside drinks and fun in the water.
Our anniversary dinner was scheduled for 6:30 at Ohana and we knew that travel time might take a bit longer.
We got to the Poly at exactly the right time.
What fun that was. Thank you Dana (and others) for recommending it. We got a table by the window and were able to watch Wishes from there before trepsing back to “our place”. It was a great evening. The boys even got into the coconut race. They were the oldest kids in the race by far and had to dodge the little ones which made for a lot of fun.

Day 4

Epcot was on the schedule for day 4. I couldn’t wait to get there.
Spaceship Earth was something we had not done before because of the lines. This time we did and it was alright. We knew that the kids would enjoy Innoventions, and went to both, east and west. It was hard to get them away from there. But, the World Show Case was my thing so that’s where we went after Mission:Space, which was great fun, Test Track which wasn’t a thrill at all and as DH puts it, “We had bigger thrills driving our sports car on the Autobahn”.
Now we’re off to World Showcase. I cannot wait. First things first, Dopey has to have a little snack at Kringla. How about a smoked salmon and scrambled egg sandwich? I could sit in that! Since I am from very far north in Germany the architecture and the cuisine are more familiar and more home to me than what they consider to be German food in the German showcase. I am in heaven. One of the boys “hits” the Chinese Take-Out restaurant. The other DS, the more adventurous, he wants Calamari in Italy. DH eats what’s left over because there always is! Next Mom must have some Champagne in France and Papa has his obligatory ale in England. We are stuffed to the gills and happy to go back to the resort for a swim. It is pretty obvious that we need not have a formal dinner this evening.
Tonight we're off to Downtown Disney and Disney Quest. What a blast. The pirate ride, OMG. Especially with my DH, who gets so into these things -- Arrgh Maties. The virtual roller coaster, the jungle cruise—Fantastic!

Home and to bed around midnight. We are tired and in need of Matt’s Moleskin. That was a great tip. Band aids would not have been enough.

Sounds like a great trip ~ is there more Dopey?

I see again you lucked out at the other parks with light crowds. I'm hoping for the same thing in Jan.

Hey Jen, I am sure that the crowds in January will be nothing like "high-season". There is more, I'll post it if you like. Our last full day was Monday, Nov. 22 and it was the most crowded I have ever seen the Magic Kingdom, so we changed parks and enjoyed MGM and Epcot one last time.

OK now you have me wanting to join in on these games!! I will defonetly be the oldest "kid" in that one... LOL.

I have to ask what did you think of the food in Germany? I am not real sure what "I could sit in it" meant. We have a PS for lunch at the Biergarten, and we did this just for our German exchange student. I was hoping it would atleast sort of give off the feeling of home.

Also, did you go on Early Entry mornings, or did you avoid EE?

Disneyguy, like I stated up there somewhere, I feel much closer to the scandinavian countries because of the geographical location of my home. That goes for the cuisine as well.
What they are portraying there as quintessential Germany is the architechture and food of Germany south of Frankfurt. That's fine, escpecially for Disney, since the Brother's Grimm Fairy Tales are from that region. Now don't get me wrong, Many, many German villages and the center of many cities even today in southern Germany really do look like the German village at Epcot.
I prefer not to eat at any restaurant ever that is a German restaurant, invariably I am dissappointed.
To make a long story short, I did not eat inside the Biergarten, we sat outside and had a Brat and a Bier.
~~
We did not go to any EEs, I didn't want to put the three guys through that. But they cooperated nicely and we were always at the parks by 8:30-9:00. Besides the parks were practically empty, exept for that last day. Wow, that was awful.

Oh and "I could sit in that" is a German expression. It means literaly that it is so good, I want so much of it that I could sit in it!
Could be applied to such things as perfume and other things as well.

Sorry about the long winded answer

Re: Dopey's Great Adventure, Part II

No problem, Disneyguy. The name, I believe, is Bonn. It used to be our Capital City after WWII. Now our Capital City is Berlin once again.
He'll be amused by Epcot's Germany and he will love the store with the chocolates and baked goods. Don't forget to take him there. I am always surprised at how inexpensive they sell the stuff there.
Although this time they've only sold Swiss chocolates there, he'll love them, cause there is nothing better than European chocolates.

Yes, he keeps telling me how we need to find some Lindt chocolate. I will make sure we stop by the shop.
