Up early and doing a last minute packing details. DW had really worked hard to ensure that we would be coming back to a very very clean home… something that she loves and I have to say that I don’t mind it so much.

I found airline tickets at a very reasonable rate, but it required that we drive 3 hours to Indianapolis. Not to bad, better than 15!!! However, it was going to make for a long day… The drive to Indianapolis was uneventful… we arrived at the airport and checked our bags… This was Madison’s first time to fly and I was a little nervous about how she would handle it. She did great… as a matter of fact it was probably her favourite part of the trip!! Now she is telling us that she wants to get on the 'airriplane' every time we head out the door! Anyway, we were on time and our flight was on time and we would be in Orlando in the matter of hours!

We arrived right on time! We catch the tram over to the main terminal… then off to catch our tram to our rental car… 9 Bags, 4 carry on bags, 1 stroller, 1 six year old, 1 two year old, and 2 adults!! Can you just imagine seeing us make our way through the airport… just double your greatest imagination and there you have it! NO REALLY WORSE!

We got to the rental location and our stroller from H*** would not fit in the trunk of our upgraded Car (free of charge)! So we had to upgrade again… nope no fit!! Finally up to a Mini Van and the rep only charged me 10.00 more a day… so we got a Mini Van for 210.00 for the week!!! I can’t recommend Enterprise enough!

So finally on our way to our resort All Star Movies!! My expectations are HIGH, very high… I don’t know what I was expecting, maybe Mickey there to greet us??? I don’t know but my expectations were extremely high, but too high! I got a room on third floor in Mighty Ducks and it was a smoking room… I was not disappointed with location because I forgot to fax my request, but smoking why would they put me in a smoking room without asking… back down to change rooms… switched and off to Chef Mickey’s… we had a 9:10 PM appointment… we were all tired and should have opted out of this dinner, but I wanted to make this a special vacation… But you can’t force MAGIC it has to happen on it’s own and it would have been much more magical to order pizza and enjoy the resort instead of rushing and trying to make magic happen! Chef Mickey’s was okay… they celebrated the girls b-days and they made it special, but we were tired and ready to relax not celebrate! Madison did not enjoy the Characters AT ALL! But enjoyed the food and her cupcake that they had for her! They didn’t take our picture because in the rush we had failed to pick up autograph books so when we were called I was out making the purchase… So no pic at Chef Mickey’s… We shut Mickey’s down and I don’t recommend that… well it’s good and bad you can have some one on one with characters but they leave early…so it’s a catch 22… We should have rescheduled this trip as some suggested to me, but I wanted the MAGIC now! Oh well… live and learn… From Chef Mickey’s we went and did some window shopping at the gift shops on the same level as CM’s… Trying on hats and just having some fun… the relaxed pace is what we need to stick to, BUT I don’t learn with this first lesson…

I had NO PROBLEM picturing you and your family at the airport.

So, tell us. How many bags did you get the honor of carrying personally? Why is it that dads are always the goofballs at home, incapable of keeping the house clean and the kids fed, yet when we leave the house we're expected to be Hercules??

It sounds like you had a very busy first day, too much so. Chef Mickey's can be so much fun, but not if you have to force it to happen. We learn something every trip that makes the next trip better, next time you will know.

I'm usually wondering the same in reverse. I keep the house neat and kids fed and chauffered, yet when we go anywhere, I get stuck carrying everything.
