50th B-day blowout vacation

This is a once in a lifetime extravagant vacation hope you enjoy this report. We're still here but I wanted to start this before it runs together too much more. It has been truly amazing from the very beginning. So sit back and read on.........

Cast DH - Brad Me - Sue (the Birthday Girl)

Day 1 (12/9)

We checked in to the BWI to find we had been upgraded to Concirege, WOOHOO, I'm spoiled. 5th floor room boardwalk view and was able to see MGM fireworks from Balcony. Room wasn't ready on check-in so they wisked us up to the concierge lounge on the 4th floor. We enjoyed snacks and drinks while they explained our itinerary (platinum package) All of our PS's were made, tours and special events booked and everything organized. Then they sent us on our way to play. First stop was ESPN for lunch which was excellent. Then we walked to EPCOT and checked out Japan, DH collects tin wind-up toys. Then a slow walk back to the resort and our room was ready.
When we walked in there was a gift basket filled with bath things, Grumpy tee shirt and night shirt, Christmas stitch and Grumpy plushs and candy. As we were unpacking a tray was delivered with chocolate covered strawberries and a tin filled with taffy and a Mickey plush and a picture of Minnie. Then there was another knock at the door and we recieved a Disney tote filled with snack food from our travel agent. I was overwhelmed.

I put up some christmas decorations in the room and on the balcony. Then we changed and headed to the Poly for the luau. We had front row seats. The show was fun and the food Great!!!!!!

Thus ended an incredibly Magical day.

MGM Fireworks? Don't you mean Epcot fireworks?

I'm glad that Disney did so right by you.

Happy Birthday BTW.

Don't tease, some of us don't know abbreviations. I have some video tape shot at the Yacht from our room of fireworks that were being shot from the other side of the Dolphin. This was about midnight in the middle of the week in August of 2001. Some of the bursts look like what became the Halloween show in the Magic Kingdom. Also, when we stayed at the Beach in 2002, there was a note in our room that they would be testing fireworks late at night, but I never saw them. There must be some sort of fireworks test area west of MGM and south of the Epcot resorts. No, what I saw was not from the Hollywood Theater in Disney MGM.

Re: 50th B-day blowout vacation

Sounds like a great 50th .

I remember celebrating my 40th on my first visit to WDW in 1996 and when the hotel ( Courtyard by Marriott ) found out ( thru my friends phoning from England to send Champagne to our room ) they bedecked the room with balloons and streamers........left a card and a tray of chocs ( which my wife helped to devour ). Virgin Holidays had also been alerted by the Hotel and they too sent wine and chocs.

My wife had booked the character breakfast at the Polynesian and we followed that by doing all the rides like Space & Splash Mountains , Extra TerrorRestrial etc.

That night we went to the Wild Bill show.

What a day.

Re: 50th B-day blowout vacation

Day 2 12/11

Up at 0600, It's hard to break this habit, breakfast at Spoodles nice atmosphere and no people. I think we were the third table. Quick stop at the room to adjust clothing, layers is the key, and then it was off to MK by bus. This takes about 1/2 hr and we made it in time to see the opening by Mickey and friends. Tip don't stand under the awning is you want to see the show. We cut through Adventure land to Frontier land and did BTM and SM both were walk-ons then we took the train around to Toontown and walked through to Fantasyland for our first Philharmagic viewing. I loved this show Then we strolled over to Crystal Palace for lunch. about 10 min wait to be seated, the place was packed with no stand-by available. Our table was decorated with streamers and confetti. Food was OK the setting is beautiful. Pooh never came to our table but had lots of attention from Eyore, and Piglett. Tigger stopped but moved on quickly. Did get pics with them all. Birthday cupcake arrived and the little girl at a table behind us thought it was for her. Since I don't eat sugar after I blew out the candle I asked her parents is she could have it and they were delighted at the offer and accepted. I also recieved a card signed by all the characters. I asked our waitress where I could buy the mickey confetti because we always put confetti in our christmas cards and since I was mailing them this week I would like to use it. She said its not for sail but she would give me some. She came back with a drink cup 3/4 full, more than enough for my cards. Now that's magic.

After lunch we went back to the resort for a rest, DH watched some football and I went to the concierge lounge to get help finding a cable for my camera.
They tracked down one at MGM so I woke DH and off we went to MGM for a quick walk about then back to the resort to see if it would work. Yahoo, success now I can print the picture for the christmas cards and mail them from here.

We took the bus back to MK and hopped the Monorail to Poly for dinner at Ohana's. Very loud, too much food, lol, the bloody mary was excellent. Then it was back to the resort and some much needed sleep.
