Trip Report as it Happens WOW!

Sunday - Checked into AKL about 15 min. early. Asked for complimentary upgrade, but was nearly laughed at, since already booked for savannah view. GOT KING BED FINALLY!!!!!WOOOOOOO!!!! Asked how long 'til luggage would arrive at room, and found luggage man waiting for me as I turned away from the front desk. Room right next to Arusha Rock, very short walk from lobby. Small room, but very very nice with King Bed. Handicapped room, actually - was informed that 99% of all King Beds are in handicapped rooms. In first 3 min. saw giraffes, zebras, all sorts of animals from the balcony.

Had a drink in the bar, and were starving, so we went DTD without any PS, just crossing our fingers. Got to Rainforest Cafe. Was totally mobbed, but put name in anyway, and was told that I didn't have to wait at all! Sooooo lucky. Beginning to feel like was in the first few scenes of "Meet the Fockers", everything was so perfect. Looked at a few stores, then returned to the Lodge. Went down to jacuzzi. Too many kids, but nice to soak anyway. Was absolutely freezing when we got out. Went back to room, rinsed off, and went to sleep.

Monday - Got up around 7AM. Went to the Mara, sold a limb in exchange for breakfast (still can't get over prices) and brought food back to room (lazy Pete still in bed with USA Today). Ate, showered, headed off to MK. Very nice day, did most of attractions before noon. Went to Epcot for brief stops through select World Showcase locales before meeting aunt and uncle on the Boardwalk, Had a beer at the Microbrewery, then back to AKL for swim and then dinner at Boma. VERY GOOD DINNER!!!! Excellent South African wine. Too tired from too much sampling, and actually fell asleep at 7:30 PM while Pete in shower. Woke up briefly around midnight. Pete snoring. Took cell out on balcony where huge Ankole Cattle were sleeping in the "moonlight" underneath a tree right in front of me. Got too cold, got back in (king size!) bed and went to sleep.

More later guys, got to grab a Malibu Bay Breeze and park it by the fire pit for a while

ooo how exciting! Seeing animals from your room must be so cool. I hope you're taking pictures for those of us less fortunate!

Tuesday - Woke up around 7AM. Pete actually went to Mara and brought back breakfast. Got in car and to Animal Kingdom park a little after 9AM. Virtually no crowds at all, but it was cold (in the low 50's with wind). Took a picture with Pluto and got kissed by Stitch

Rode the Safari and got to see a baby elephant...so cute! Did the Pangani trail and saw lots of gorillas, very active too. Can't believe how human their eyes are.

*gulp* Did Dinosaur & cried. Felt a little like vomiting for a while, but went to see Tough to be a Bug and got over it. Saw the tigers on the trail, but they were asleep and not too interesting. Decided to give Pizzafari a second chance. Excellent decision. Really no line at 11:30AM. Food was okay, but nice dining experience without crowds. Decided to hop over to MK because had 3 hours of E-ride after park closed at 7PM. Took photos w/Chip & Dale (who ignored Pete for me until he complained and then they dogpiled him in a massive furry group hug which made us giggle) and then with Robin Hood before leaving.

Since have done the MK so many times, and the "Share a Dream Come True" parade was about to begin when we got to the park, we actually sat on the curb to see it. It was nice. Didn't want to run around to all the rides like spazzes as usual, since we had all night.

And then I was attacked by a seagull.

Got ice cream cone, and some jerk was feeding the rats w/wings, so everyone was hiding under overhangs and in shops, etc. After they cleared, we decided to try to walk to Toontown for a bit. All of a sudden I got divebombed by a seagull. I ducked, but it took the ice cream right off my cone. I screamed, some kid started laughing, and my ice cream was all over the ground. A nice CM told me to throw it out (as if I'd keep eating it), and I walked back to Mrs. Pott's Cupboard for more. I didn't even open my mouth, the nice man saw my face and said "I believe you" before I could say a thing. I got another ice cream, but this time in a dish.

Did a few rides, took the time to see Hall of Presidents (bit tongue VERY hard at times), and then saw Wishes. Nice to not have to rush to beat the monorail crowd. Was a lot more crowded than usual. Got a FP for Peter Pan, FINALLY got to do Pirates, and then did Space Mountain by myself. Pete found me a Dance Dance Revolution arcade game, and I did that for a while (nerd alert!). So much fun. Then he smoked me at Buzz Lightyear (he got something like 9 million points). Rode Peter Pan w/our fastpasses (line was still outrageous at 9PM), then took monorail back to car. Had drinks by the firepit, then went to sleep.

fantastic .. live trip report ..can it get better then this !! sorry about the Sea gulls ..during our March trip (which was cold too) Aloha was the target of sea gulls every where we went

First let me say that I am LOVING this TR! I am so happy that you are having a magical time!

Awwwww, at least you got a new ice cream! Gotta love that Disney magic!

It is so surreal to be reading this and know that you're still experiencing it! It's COOL, because I can picture you at AKL and everything...having a grand ol' time with drinks by the firepit...

P.S. After peoples' recent seagull experiences at WDW, I think I'm going to eat INSIDE all the time!
