Re: Dana - the Trip report 1/05
Day 4
I slept straight through the night and woke at 6am. I got myself dressed and then took breakfast orders. I would go get the breakfast and force these people from their beds today if I had to. I headed down to the Mara and got everyone something to eat and me and DBF's coffee. I was back in no time and had everyone settled into their breakfasts. I had them done, dressed and ready to roll in under an hour and was kicking myself for not doing this the other two mornings. I called bell services for me and DD's bag transfer to the Poynesian. WE carried DBF's and his DS's stuff to the car which we found out was very close the other morning when we got the cell phone charger. We all headed right over the the AK after. When we arrived, DBFDS wanted to know if we could ahve lunch at the Rainforest. I told him to run over and make a PS for 1pm. We all headed in and began to explore. I have never given this park the proper credit. Maybe it had a lot to do with taking first timers, but we had a blast here. DBF loved the place and couldn't get over how detailed everything was. It made me see the park in an entire new way. We loved the safari and everything in between it. There weren't a lot of animals out in some places, but I think that had to do with the bit of cold weather we were having that day. We walked around by the new EE and were amazed at the sheer size of that thing. We headed into Dinoland and me and DBF found a bench and relaxed as the kids ran wild. We all headed over to Dinosaur and I was surpirsed my DD wanted to ride. Ever since she got the pooh scared out of her that one time, she has never wanted to go on it again. This was a big mistake. When we got off the ride, she was hysterical....tears hysterical. I took her aside and let her calm down. DBF ried to comfort her and said that is what happens when he goes on rollercoasters....didn't work. We all decided this was a good breaking point and headed over to the Rainforest to see if we could get in early. The place was dead and we got in easily. I really enjoyed this lunch. The theme in there is awesome! We ate a nice reasonably priced lunch and headed out to the shop to look around and let the food settle. I was amazed at how cheap the clothes were compared to the other stuff in WDW. Shortly after, we headed back into the park and DBF and the kids did ITTBAB. They all loved it. I sat this one out wanting a moment to myself. We then went to the rapid ride. We held the kids off all day on this and told them they could do it at the end of the day. Me and DBf sat ourselves at the exit and let them go. I got a frozen banana and got DBF his first premium mickey bar. The kids managed to go around three times without getting off. That's how little the wait was. The CM just kept letting them ride. We finally got them off and the both of them were soaked. This is where we ended the day. WE all walked to the bus stops and said our goodbyes. DBF headed back on the AKL bus with his DS and me and my DD went on the Polynesian/Contemporary bus to go check in. I have to say that I was very sad to see them go. Even with the fighting, we had a great time together. I loved having all that time with my DBF that I rarely get to have. WE are lucky to see each other twice a week, so being together for four days straight was nice. The AKL bus was there in minutes, but our bus was a good ten minute wait. DD was soaked and freezing and I was kicking myself for letting her go on that ride. We got to the Polynesian after dropping guests at the Contemporary. I hate sharing buses with other resort, but was so excited about checking in at the Poly, that I didn't mind so much. We headed straight in to the Great Ceremonial House and waited our turn. We were given the choices of three different rooms, but I opted for the room in Nuie on the first floor. Having a room close to the center of things would be a nice change of pace. Our room number was 1704 and it was seconds away from the main building. These rooms are huge as compared to the AKL, but not worth the double price tag. I loved it here however. I called for the bags only to find out they weren't here yet. hmmm not good. DD is soaked and cold and has nothing to change in to. I called over to the AKL to see if they did their transfers yet and they told me it was just dropped off at the Polynesian. Sure enough, moments later, there was a knock at my door and they bags were here. I got the bags in and grabbed DD some dry clothes and made her get a hot bath. I unpacked us both while she bathed. She came out and laid on the bed and was asleep in seconds. I let her sleep a bit and settled in and relaxed on the bed writing some notes for my TR. I woke her around 4:30 to get her ready for dinner. We were having dinner at O'hanna at 5pm and I wanted to give her time to collect herslef before we left. We left for O'hanna around 4:50 and were up there and in by 5pm. Our server was excellent and I can't remember her name. The first thing she said to us was "you are going to need new pants when I get done stufing you" lol She was true to her word and tried to stuff us to death. WE had a great meal and enjoyed watching the coconut races. DD wasn't interested in doing them claiming it was for little kids....she did it last year...oh well. After dinner, we poked around all the shops and explored the resort. We headed back to the room to call it an early night. We were both a bit tired and had an early wake-up for CP in the morning. We settled in and DBF called me to tell me they were stopping for the night and that he'd call when they got home. DD was asleep by ten and I wasn't to far behind her.

Re: Dana - the Trip report 1/05
I was going to wait to the end to respond, but I can't help myself.
Bickering children is something that comes naturally in our family and just because we were in WDW ~ that didn't change anything. I know it must have been hard for you since you're not used to it, but it just means your DD and DBFDS are normal! Glad you enjoyed your stay at AKL and time as a family with DBF and his son. It's hard taking a vacation with others though, isn't it? Having to take into consideration what they want to do too. I'm glad that despite all of you pre-trip fears that everything worked out well. When we rode Kali Rapids at AK I was the smart one ~ I got a poncho. Nadia got soaked, and even though it was very warm that day, she was freezing! Tell DD that my DS (14) though he was old too for the coconut races, but we double dog dared him to do it and he had a blast. I was so surprised how much he acted like a kid at WDW. Waiting for day 6... Jen

Re: Dana - the Trip report 1/05
Day 5
6:30 wake-up for me. Dd slept till 7am as I dressed. I got her up and moving and we were out of the room by 7:30. We had a 8:05 Ps for CP and weren't in any rush with the monorail so close. As we exited out the building we saw signs for the MK monorail. We followed them all the way to the TTC. We loaded the monorail and the first stop was the Polynesian.....30 seconds from our room...lol live and learn. We had no idea. We made our way to the MK and got off the monorail and headed over to have our bags checked. After bag check, we stood in this huge line waiting to be left in. They won't allow anyone in before 8am. We waited for about 10 minutes when a CM came up to me and guided me to a brand new line that was just opening. We were the first in the MK at 8am, but the second to arrive at CP. The first kid to arrive gets to be Chef for the DAy..oh well maybe next trip. We were seated, eated and saw each and every character by 8:40. WE left and hung out in Tomorrow land waiting for the rope drop. When it dropped, we headed directly on to Stitch and were the first people in line for the day. The CM made a huge fuss out of us. We went in and watched the preshow and then on to the ride. I liked it as did my DD. This may have something to do with neither of us every trying AE. The smell that Stitch burped was nasty and stayed with us for awhile though. After SGE, we went on Buzz where I totally kicked my DD's pants and then proceeded to do the "in your face " dance much to the delight of the father and DD behind us. The father joined me and we both mocked our children..lol they rolled thier eyes at us. After Buzz, my DD went on CP alone as I sat on a bench. We both then went on SM and the people mover. We finished up TL and headed over to FL. WE skipped the teacups but went right on to pooh, phillarmagic and then peter pan. At this point DD was hungry and we stopped in Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. Excellent meal and a nice break from the burgers and fries routine. After lunch we went on Jungle Cruise and Pirates. We then ended our day at MK with a few runs on SM. We headed back to the monorail and went back to the room to rest and change for dinner. DBF calleed me around 3pm saying he just got home. We were heading to Epcot to meet up with Darth and his DW for dinner in GErmany. After our break, DD and I headed over to Epcot with DC the bear. This was his first trip out this trip. I felt badly about that, but really didn't want to carry him around with DBF and DS and everyone's crap too. They made me the pack mull and my handbag was filled with "can you hold this for me" stuff. When we got into Future world, DD wanted to take a spin on MS. I waited for her and then we headed to the WS. We started in Mexico and worked our way around. DD got a passport and was having a blast with this. I like this more than the mask she did last year. The passports arent' that big of a deal to carry around. We ended up in Germany finally and met up with Darth and his adorable DW. After quick intros we went in and were seated. This place is really cool. The meal was excellent and filling and the entertainment and company perfect. We laughed and had a good time as my DD proceeded to tell them how twisted I am...they both probally think I am insane....sorry darth it's true...I'm nuts. After dinner the four of us walked around taking photos of us for you all... We all walked out laughing and having a great time. I enjoyed meeting them...great people. DD and I caught the monorail back to the TTC and then to the Polynesian. We changed clothes and I called DBF. My father called me when I was on the monorail. The AKL called him and said that we left a coat behind.....not mine....not DD's. It was DBF's I called him to ask him if he lost anything...lol The AKL mailed it to him...free of charge. Me and DD went to the beach to watch the light pagent. It was as cute as I remembered from my WL stay in 2002. Afer the pagent, Me and my DD went over to the arcade to play. We both lost $1 each on games that were borken and not signed accordingly. After that, back to the room for TV and bed.

Re: Dana - the Trip report 1/05
Day 6
We woke late today...8am for me and 9:30 for my DD. The weather was gorgeous, but cloudy. I went up Kona to grab breakfast for me and her and brought it back to the room. I had the Tonga Toast....YUMMY! Sara had an egg sandwich and a donut. After breakfast, Sara went to the pool to try out the waterslide. She ran around all day and came back in the room to get lunch. We went and grabbed lunch and DD wanted to take it to the beach and eat it on the hammock. She came running back in the room moments later. A seagul tried to "share" her lunch with her. In this time, I was packing up everything except what we needed for that night and the next day. We finished lunch and then headed over to the MK around 2pm to watch the parade. We staked out a perfect location right in front of the train station on the circle. We took turns shopping/pin trading as the other held the spot. The parade was there soon enough and we both enjoyed it very much while eating a premium mickey bar. It was the first time we both saw it. We are usually taking our mid-day break when the parades are happening. After the parade we went on the train and took it to FL. We rode Splash twice and were completely soaked. We headed back on the train and took it to Toon town. This place was packed! We walked through mickey's and minnie's and headed back on the train. We ended at Main Street Station and headed out. We stopped and got our after hours bracelettes and headed back to the Polynesian to change wet clothes for wishes and dinner and chef mickey's after. We went up to get the monorail and my DD managed to score the front seat. We had the whole car to ourselves along with the driver. We were stcuk on the track for a bit while they changed trains and waited for clearance, but what a great view to be stuck looking at. We had the ideal location for wishes right there. The castle was right there already chaging colors. We got back to the Mk and I sat DD on top of the train station at 6pm. All of the chairs were already taken so she stood directly behind a lady and her two kids as I ran to get us drinks and popcorn to wait it out. I had to go all the way up to the hub because the one by the train station wasn't open. I came back and we ate our popcorn and waited. About 30 minutes before the show started, a man came up and was talking to the lady in front of my DD. I assumed it was her husband or someone she was traveling with. He was blocking me and DD from seeing anything. He was a good 5"10 to our 5"3 and 5ft. I didn't get mad...I assumed he would sit after the show started or at least kneel out of the way. Fat chance. Moments before the show started, he whips out his video camera and sets up....ok now I was a bit tweaked, but was still thinking this guy was surely not going to stand there while the show was going on....nope he stood there through out the entire show. I made a few comments, but really didn't say anything. This show was beautiful even with my obstructed view. I have never seen or heard anything that cool. After the show ends the guy gets up and leaves....he wasn't even with the lady...unreal! I just got over it. Nothing I can do now, but know to get there earlier next time. After Wishes, me and my DD headed to FL to redo our favorites. WE were checked for the after hours band at each attraction. We took one more turn on Phillarmagic and then had to say goodbye to the MK. We made our way slowly to the monorail wishing we weren't saying good bye at all. We headed over to the Contemporary to CM for dinner. We arrived and were seated in minutes. The dinner was fine and the characters excellent! I have to say that this is the best guest interaction that I had the whole trip. I took pictures for the family next to me so they could all be in it. It seems that everyone was doing that all evening. It was nice to see a bit of kindness and consideration for a change. After dinner, we made our way back to the polynesian where we stayed up late acting goofy and enjoying our final night there.
