Re: April 12 - 24 trip report - AWESOME!!!

DAY 3 – Thursday April 14

We tried to get to MK for the opening ceremony but ran a bit late. We checked out the Barber Shop, but the girls were too excited to wait for a hair cut, so we kept moving.

I didn’t realize that I wasn’t feeling the Disney MAGIC until…..I heard the music!!! The trolley came down Main St and the performers were dancing and singing and there it was…DISNEY MAGIC!!!! We watched the show for a little bit and decided to go to Tomorrowland to check out Buzz Lightyear.

We all have a hard time walking by an attraction so we went on Stitch first. I never saw AE, and I’ve heard lots of rotten reviews of Stitch, but wanted to judge for myself. None of us liked it. DD8 has sensory issues and being pinned in her seat wasn’t a great thrill for her. Luckily, she is skinny and was able to sit up right through the middle of the restraint. I must have been slouching when the restraint came down, because I couldn’t sit up straight.

When we came out of Stitch, we went to COP. I haven’t been on this ride in ages – it’s been closed during our last few visits. As always, I loved it. The girls both love to hear about what we didn’t have when we were kids (in the stone age before remote controls and home computers), so they enjoyed it too.

Then we went to Buzz. This was my first time but DH and Devon 8 had ridden it during our last visit. I’m not a very good shot – I just barely did better than the kids, but DH really beat us. I guess I spent some time taking pictures too. When we came out and saw our photo - I was taking a picture!!! Yep – I scrapbook!

We had a PS at CRT – this is our first character meal!!! We were seated right away, and I loved our server. He was ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY pleased to have us dine at his table!!! We started with fruit and he brought us more because we enjoyed it so much. I have no idea if this meal is all you can eat, but he sure kept us stocked in fruit! We met the princesses as we dined. The girls were happy to meet them, but I think they may have been overwhelmed too. They were extremely quiet. The rest of the meal was fabulous, and as we headed out, we stopped and had a very nice chat with the Fairy Godmother. She was very nice and spent a lot of time with us – There was no one else around waiting for her.

We walked thru Fantasyland and it was MOBBED – we saw Mickey’s Philharmagic since there was no wait there. We all loved this show!! The girls loved the Donald mishap at the end – I loved the music!!!! I had a blast watching all the kids trying to touch the 3D stuff flying at them!!!!

We left Fantasyland and tried Haunted Mansion. Once again, the girls chickened out. They have never been on this ride – they cannot get past the scary sounds at the entrance. The stretching room would surely freak them out if they got that far. DH stayed outside with them, and I rode it. A very nice man, who was visiting with his grandkids joined me in my doombuggy. It was nice to not have to ride alone, but it’s always more fun when you’re with your own family though.

From there, we headed to Thunder Mountain and we all rode. This was Bailey’s first time on it. She is making great progress since the last trip – she was afraid of everything! She is starting to turn into a rollercoaster girl!

We all did Splash Mountain next. Another first for Bailey! They played Bailey’s song (zippity doo da) just for her!! I brought my waterproof camera and tried to take a photo of the big hill – I cannot wait to see those pictures!

We went over to Tom Sawyers Island. I thought this was very neat! The guidebooks make it sound like you can let your kids roam while the adults sit at Aunt Polly’s. I wasn’t comfortable doing that, so we all explored the tunnels, played a quick game of checkers, and had a snack at Aunt Polly’s before heading back to the mainland!

We did the Swiss Family Treehouse because we’ve never done it before. It was pretty empty, so we could really look around. I remember as a kid not having a lot of time to look around because the crowd just pushed you through.

We went on the Alladin ride next.

We decided to go back to tommorrowland to check out space mountain. None of us rode last time. Bailey 6 decided to give it a try and Devon 8 decided she only likes outdoor roller coasters.

DH took Devon on the speedway, while Bailey and I went on Space. I must be getting old, because I didn’t love it as much as when I was younger. Part of it was because I kept my hand on Bailey’s shoulder because I thought she would be scared. WRONG!!!! She was ready to ride it again!!!

We caught up with DH and Devon and went on Astro Orbiter – another ride we’ve never been on. The lines were pretty short now – the park seemed empty.

We were exhausted, but the kids wanted to keep going, so we went to toontown to ride goofy’s rollercoaster, and to see minnies house. They still love minnies kitchen the best!

The line to meet pooh, tigger and eeyore was short, so we met them.

On the way out, we jumped on the teacups. The girls spin the cups and I pretend to throw up on them. The stuff memories are made of! Some day they’ll bring their kids to WDW and pretend to throw up on them. Good Times!!!!
We went to Cosmic Ray’s on our way out for a rotisserie chicken dinner. The girls each had a kids meal in those mickey shaped plates. I wish I would have kept a few of those. I bet they would eat anything if they were on those plates!!! Cosmic Rays was cool! I loved the lounge act!!! I kept thinking of Alf while we were there – does cosmic ray resemble him at all? Or maybe it’s just an alien thing?

Busy busy day and we are exhausted - Tomorrow MGM…..

Re: April 12 - 24 trip report - AWESOME!!!

Ya know - I didn't even realize that we didn't go to a park before you guys started mentioning it!

I think I wanted to stay away from MK on Wednesday - could it have been an EMH day? I'm not sure now.

The girls didn't care where we were - they were having fun! And I think that playing in Goofy's squirt zone thingy and swimming at Pop Century was what they saw, so it's what they wanted to do!

You will have to resize it before posting it. I get mine down to 300x400 and they seem to be fine. I think I resize in IrfanView--what ever that is.

Great report so far! sounds like you all had a blast! I must admire your fortitude to not hit the MK on your first day though! We fly out on the 30th of June at 7:30 a.m., and we plan on hitting the ground running as they say, and head straight for the MK!
I'm like a big kid when I'm there! My wife and kids think it's hilarious!

Awesome trip report! I can just feel the magic reading your report. I can't wait to read more.

I didn't think I could start my WDW trip w/o going to the MK but I did it last summer and we had a great first day relaxing at Stormalong Bay. We were totally rested and ready for a full day at the parks on day two.

You're right, Wednesdays and Fridays have been EMH days at the MK lately. I CANT BELIEVE your girls wouldn't do Haunted Mansion but they'd do the roller coasters and Splash Mountain. That's so insane!!!!! It's like being too scared to ride Peter Pan but not afraid of ToT!!!!!

Sounds like you guys were having fun though. How would you rate the crowds on a 1-10 scale?

I just about died laughing at this. Someone that shares my sense of humor. Too funny. I think I am going to pretend to throw up on my DD in a couple weeks. She loves the tea cups and well spinning rides don't set well with me. maybe I won't have to pretend if she spins it too fast.

I am really enjoying your report. I can't wait to hear the rest. I like how laid back you all were about your first day and just did what you felt like it at the time. Awesome! Can't wait to read the rest.

Re: April 12 - 24 trip report - AWESOME!!!

Jenny
I've been talking about HM since our last trip 2 years ago. I really wanted them to see the ghost that hitches a ride in the doombuggy, and I told them about the ring. They told me over and over again that they would ride it, but when it came time, they both chickened out.

Devon has always loved the rollercoasters and she wants to go on a loop one, but because RRC is in the dark, she wants no part of it. We'll have to see how she does if we go to Six Flags this summer. Last year she wasn't tall enough for the loop.

I don't know about the crowds - I have a hard time rating them. The entire time we were there was supposed to be a 4, but it was diferent from day to day. On this day in MK, it was great in the morning, was crowded when we got to fantasyland, and wasn't bad in adventureland. When we went thru fantasyland during late afternoon, it was empty.

Queensmamma
No video. I am such a photo/scrapbooking person, you would think I would do video too, but we don't...

Everyone here is so kind about the trip reports - thank you for your comments - I love reading them!

I'll try to figure out how to resize my photos and work on Day 4....

Lisa
