Friday April 15 – MGM

We got to MGM at 10am – we are definitely not as peppy as we were yesterday!

We took a few photos in front of Mickey’s hat, and went over to the Great Movie Ride. I’ve never been on this ride – I really liked it a lot. The kids enjoyed it too – they were a little scared during the alien part, but not enough to ruin the ride!

On our way to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, we just missed meeting Mickey and Pluto under the hat.

We went over to Voyage of the little Mermaid. After hearing the song in Mickey’s Philharmagic and again here, I am a big fan of that little mermaid song!

We decided to try the hat again to catch Mickey and Pluto, and this time we did see them.

Me and Bailey saw Star Tours – Devon wanted no part of it, so she waited with DH. Bailey rode again with DH while me and Devon waited for them.

We had lunch at the Backlot Express. I am now addicted to the Kens Honey Mustard Dressing, and am thinking of making soup out of it. Would it be wrong to just eat it with a spoon?

We saw the Muppet 3D show, which we all love. The pre show for this one is very entertaining. After the show, we had to get the girls away from the fountain – what is it about kids and water??????

We managed to meet buzz, woody and Jessie at some point today. It took 2 trips to Al’s Toy Barn to do it, but we finally met them!!! In our past 2 trips, we never did meet them, so this was a victory in itself!!!

At some point, we also stumbled across the Singing in the Rain umbrella, and the girls and DH had fun playing with that one. Again – kids and water! I had asked a CM about this on our last trip and was told it was taken down – hmmmmmm. Another nice surprise for us!

Another thing we stumbled across was the snowman – I think it was next to Mamma Melroses – never saw this before. It was cute and the girls posed for some photos there.
I don’t know why, but I cannot seem to find my way around this park. I feel that I know Magic Kingdom pretty well, but when I am at MGM, I just don’t know where anything is. I guess I need to visit more often!

We went to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. I have never seen it so crowded. I usually love this playground, but it was way too hot and crowded today. The girls played for 20 minutes or so, while DH snoozed in the little shade he could find.

We were all exhausted, so we stopped for some ice cream and headed out.

At the entrance to the park, there were so many characters. We met

Pheobus (I thought he was John Smith – ooops! Who the **** is Pheobus?????)

We also met Pocahantas and Meeko
Aladin and Jasmine
Wendy and Peter Pan

Wendy and Peter were my favorites. I loved how they fight with each other!

There were other characters there, but we didn’t have time to meet them too. They all had to get ready for the parade. I would guess that it was around 3:30ish – That is the place to be if you want to meet lots of characters at one time!!!

I never noticed that the Incredibles were doing meet and greets at the park – I’m bummed that we didn’t meet them. That would have been a great addition to our autograph collections!

Once we left the park, we got our car and tried to take a leisurely drive so the girls would nap – that didn’t happen, so we went back to the flower pool. The pool is nicely heated so the girls swam for hours while DH and I tried to drink $12 worth of soda apiece with our good friend, CAPT MORGAN.

After swimming, we went to the arcade and had dinner at Everything Pop. I had Ken’s Honey Mustard Dressing with some fries on the side.

Tomorrow – we check out and visit the in laws….

LOL!!!! The capt. is a friend of mine too! Phoebus is the hero in Hunchback, who Esmerelda falls in love with. MGM is a little confusing, I agree.

Thanks - some people think the girls look like twins - others say one looks just like DH and one looks just like me. And other others say that the other one looks just like DH and the other other one looks just like me! Confused? Me too!

Our trip was 12 days, but 2 of those were strictly travel (flew in to Orlando late and flew out of Orlando very early), and 2 were spent visiting in laws. So 8 park/play days. It never feels like enough time, but at the end of the trip, we were all ready to come home.

I just realized that I didn't answer your question. We only stayed at PC for 4 nights, then we had a timeshare for a week.

We didn't have a problem with the room being small, but we were all so tired, we went to bed at the same time. Or if the girls were trying to sleep, DH and I would read instead of watching TV.

Once we were in the condo, though, it was so much nicer. I could do laundry, and we all had our own space. On the nights that DH and I were able to stay awake later than the girls, we could watch TV or whatever without bothering them.

Sounds like soooo much FUN!!! I can't wait until it's our turn, only 7 more days...but I'm not looking forward to coming home...That means no more looking forward to the trip and having to save more $$$ for the next trip, which in all seriousness will probably be in 2 years...*sniff*

well I'll be here at DC living through all the TRs...

I cannot wait to read more about the rest of your trip...I understand your "not knowing' MGM feeling...it's my favorite park and I spend ample time there...but I always get confused in the New York St./ San Fransico area...I get lost!

I love the report....and the Ken's Dressing...YUM! I also love Captain Morgan. Him and I are very close friends...lol Your DD's are adorable and I agree with rlander, they could pass for twins...to cute! Thanks for sharing the trip with us. I loved it!

Saturday April 16

We slept in today, and packed up the room. Our belongings now completely fill the trunk of our car.

We took the girls back to the arcade so they could cash in their tickets. They each got a disc shooter. I let them shoot the discs into a bag in the car because I remember how hard it is to wait to play with a new toy. When I got shot in the back of the head, I no longer cared how hard it is to wait to play with a new toy and the disc shooters went into time out.

On our way to Port Richie, we stopped at a Sonic. This was a new experience for us although it was a bit confusing! We couldn’t find a spot to park at, so we parked in an adjacent lot and walked up to the place. The waitress/roller skater girl looked at us like we were insane. We figured we would eat inside since we couldn’t find a spot to get served. Apparently, there IS no inside. Back to the car we went – this time we were going to try the drive thru, but found a spot to park instead. The burgers were really good – the onion rings were not so good. The girls got slushies so they were very happy. I usually make them drink milk!

Got to DH’s brothers place and the girls were finally able to shoot their disc shooters without fear of taking me out. We visited with BIL and MIL. Went out for a Chinese buffet and crashed at MIL’s apartment.

Sunday April 17
More visiting with BIL, MIL and nieces and nephews. The girls had a blast meeting their cousins and playing outside with them. We got back on the road to head back to Orlando, and I think we must have hit Sonic again. DH is loving those burgers!!!

Checked into condo, unpacked and brought the girls to the pool. It was early evening and the pool was pretty empty. We hung out for a few hours – there is a water slide and waterfall, so the girls are both having a blast!

Tomorrow back to the parks!!!!
