Mmouse67l and Thumper's trip report pt. 1

OK so here is part one of our trip report. We flew in on Oct 2nd and our son coughed the whole plane ride. He has a history of asthma and chronic sinus infections so this was not a good sign. We ended up taking him to an urgent care clinic on the 3rd while everybody else took off for EPCOT.

Well they said he had a ear infection around his ear tube (yeah he has those too) and a possible sinus infection so they gave us some antibiotic and sent us on our way.

By noon he was doing much better so we headed off to EPCOT to meet the rest of our family. Spaceship Earth was the official first ride ever for my son at WDW and he loved it. Other attractions we did that day were Journey into Imagination (Yeah Figment!), Food Rocks (funny), Test Track (WOW!!!), The living seas(kids liked it), and El Rio Del Tiempo (not too bad, the kids liked it). We had a late lunch at the Food Fair in the land and dinner at the Food and fun center at the Cont. (that food got old fast)

In our opinion, the Contemporary North Garden Wing was OK for the price we payed for it ($89/night I think through Shades of Green) but I liked Dixie Landings more when we stayed there in 1995. The rooms were big and the Monorail access was really nice but the rooms had no personality and we did not find the staff to be very friendly.

Day 2 was MK. I have posted about this a few times but for those who don't know my son is a Peter Pan fanatic and we were worried we may not be able to find any of the characters for him. Well within the first couple of hours we found Mr Smee, Captain Hook, Peter Pan and Wendy! Unbelievable!!

We rode a bunch of rides, the crowds and lines were not too bad. He loved Haunted Mansion (I posted about this before too, whether or not he would like it) and Pirates and Splash Mt. (even though he got "soaked") and Big Thunder Mt. and Small World. We ate at Pinocchio Village Haus and in General had a great day!!

Well that's all for now. More later. And oh yeah it was HOT!!!!

Welcome Home

I was sorry hear about your son being sick. I came down with a simalar sickness about a week ago, I went to the doctor and was told I had a double ear infection (nothing new for me either) and a sinus infection and I was coughing as if I was hacking up a lung. I beg the doctor to cure me since I leaving for Disney on the 14th. I got some antiborics and some strong cough medicine and I feel much better. Still coughing some but not as much. I am glad he got to meet his favorite movie's characters. Hope he is all better now and I look forward to reading the rest of your report. Did you get much rain and will it be cooler for me?

It never fails for us, either. Our kids ALWAYS get sick either right before we leave or while at WDW.

This past June when we went, the kids knew we were going, but I wouldn't tell them which day. I packed the van while our son was at school and our daughter really didn't know what I was doing (she is 2). That morning we woke up really early and got every one loaded.

I think there is something about kids getting sick around vacation/birthday's/christmas/etc. In your case, I think it was probably the flight that brought on the ear trouble. That is fairly common, and has happened to several people I know.

My son did get swimmers ear on our last day at WDW, but my Dr. called in an Rx for that and we picked it up on our way out of town. (He was in terrible pain). Other than that, we were sick free for the whole trip!

How old is your son?? I'm hoping my daughter will be tall enough to ride all the 40" rides in June (she'll be 3 1/2 then) (we'll see!)
She LOVES all the Peter Pan characters, too (except Captain Hook!) She really wants to meet them this next time!

Sounds like you had a fabulous trip....keep the info coming!

mmouse & thumper welcome back! Sorry to hear about your son. I hope the antibiotics worked quickly and he was able to enjoy the rest of the trip! That's great about finding the Peter Pan characters. We've never seen Wendy anywhwere. Where did you see her? My DD got picked to help Wendy in the Share a Dream parade once... had to tell the Lost boys to stop. That was fun. We still don't have her autograph though. Looking forward to hearing the rest.

We went late April/early May 2002 when my daughter was almost 3yrs. & 5 mos. but she wasn't tall enought (only 38 in) for Splash Mt. or Tower of Terror...they let her on Big Thunder & Test Track go figure. But our last trip she was 3 yrs. & 10 mos. and had grown about an inch and we got on all of them without a problem. We did go shoe shopping for big shoes though. I searched all over for tennis shoes with a really chunky sole and the shoes alone added at least an inch. Good luck!

Hi Everyone!! I am sad to be home, but at least I have DC to get me through the next year until we can go again! :o

Our little guy did get better and was able to enjoy the rest of the trip (thank goodness), seems like as soon as he saw the doctor he made a miraculous recovery! He still wasn't really himself for a couple of days, but the coughing subsided and he was able to enjoy the parks!! Still, it was an experience I could do without going through again!!

Dab - we found Wendy and Peter in Adventureland, I think it was outside of Jungle Cruise - found Hook and Smee inside the Pirates of the Carribean store. It was so neat, the group of characters we were afraid we wouldn't see, and it was like they were just waiting for us!!!

BDavis932 - Our DS turned 4 while on this trip and he is about 42" tall, we were worried a couple of months ago that he wouldn't be tall enough, but luckily he hit a growth spurt. Will keep my fingers crossed that your little one makes the 40" mark!

Sleeplessinny1 - Hope you are feeling better!! Looks like you are leaving today (or have already left), hope you have a wonderful trip and that it is cooler for you! The heat was a bit much for us, but only had about 20 minutes of rain one day, so can't complain too much!!! Have a safe trip!
