Had the time of my life Part 1

My trip Oct 14-21

Sorry it has taken me so long to write this but, so much to do when we got home.

We arrived on the 14th ounf 3pm. We stayed at the Polyinesian and it was wonderful. Our room was titled a garden view but we had the last one in the long house and you could actually see the castle from our balcony. It was breath taking seeing the castle the first time lite up at night.

Our first night we had PS for the dinner package to see fantasmic. Dinner was at the Hollywood Brown Derby. The food was great and I like looking at all the pictures on the wall. Fantasmic was out of this world. I have never seen any show like it before. I cant wait to go and see it again.

Our first full day we started at the Ak. We had breackfast at Donalds Prehistoric Breakfastsauras. It was so much fun with the Characters. I couldn't beleive how much fun I had with them even though we didn't have any kids with us. I was just cting like a kid myself. That night we went to the Hoop dee doo revue. I enjoyed the show and ate the best fryed chicken I ever had. The show was corny but had you laughing just the same.

The next morning we went on the backstage safari tour. It was scheduled to be a 3 hour walking tour. It lasted 4 1/2 hours. We had a blast. We learned a lot about Disney and how they care for there animals and the enviroment. My respect for Disney went up even higher than it was before by taking this tour.

We had lunch at the Rain forest Cafe. We had fun just watching the animatronics animals around the restraunt. Then we went to see the Mickeys Jammin Jungle Parade. It was the most fun I have ever had at a parade.

That night, since it was my DH Birthday he wanted to eat at the Cape May Cafe. He ate So many clams he could eat the birthday cake they brought him.

Well I will finish this trip report in a few days but I think you can tell we had a great time.

Sounds great, sleeplessinny1. Glad to hear someone else besides me enjoys the character meals, even without kids. We love Cape May, too. It's a regular on our WDW schedule.

I am so glad you and DH had such an enjoyable time! I truly think sometimes my DH and I have more fun without the kids because, like you were able to, we can put our hair down and be young at heart. :)

So many people have mentioned Cape May recently that I am thinking I better give it a try in December. So many Disney things to do, so little time to do them....

Welcome back! Can't wait to read more!

I just saw a show on the Travel Channel about the Yacht & Beach Clubs & they showed Cape May in the story. It made my mouth water just thinking about being there again. You've got to at least try it.

We did 3 back stage tours while we we there.

1 Backstage Safari
2 Behind the seeds tour
3 The story behind Walts steam trains.

We love all of them and what to to more.

The safari was was fun and educational. We were able to talk to the elephant keeper, the giraffe keeper, The rhino, keeper as well as the reptile keeper. Each told up about the animals that are kept at the AK as well as their breeding programs. How each group is trained. They really care about the well being of the animals at the Animal kingdom as well as the looking into the future for the worlds animal population. At the end of the tour we receive a nice pin to keep.

The behind the seeds tour my husband really got a kick out it. He is a gardener and was really interested in Disney hydrponic gardening research. They showed us how we coiuld start a hydroponic garden at home. The research the do in organic gardening is wonderful. we learned alot in a short walking tour. this tour was a more indept tour than the boat ride thought the land.

The steam train tour was also a thrill for my husband. He is a train nut and really loves the old steam trains. they took us back in the round house and my DH got to take pictures of all the engines that were there. The conductor told us about the histriy of the trains as well as what adaption they had to make to them to run in the parks.

Next time we go we want to do more tours because we thought that they made our trip even more memmorable.

I second this, it is one of my favorite things to do at WDW. It is not expensive, less than $10, and if you love gardening at all, it is a must do. Nothing like walking through the greenhouses while the ride is passing you buy. You soon find out what all those dolls in It's a Small World feel like with everyone staring at them.

Sounds like you had a great time. I would love to do more tours. Minnie and I are going to have to go by ourselves for a week and just do tours.

I would recommend going with out the children at least once but we have promised our grandkids that we will take them all when my DH retires. We told their parents that we will pay for the kids but if they want to come they have to pay their own way. We promised that we would watch the kids at night so they could have some private time to go to Down town Disney if they want. I know it will be totally different doing Disney with kids. No more lingering to watch the gorillas or resting over a nice glass of wine after a wonderful lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. I am hoping to squeeze one more trip to Disney before taking the kids. One trip and I am hooked for life.
Now I am going to start another thread to finish my trip report.
