Great start, but just not enough.

I figured out that you had left on your birthday after I started a Happy birthday thread for you and everyone but you posted on it. So I looked and gone you were.

What a great way to celebrate ones birthday at the Magic Kingdom.....well done...

Did you stay in the renovated part of the Poly? We are still up in the air as to where we will staying in December. Glad you had a good time. Sometimes the rain can work to one's advantage. Hope that happened for you.

Okay, here's the rest of Day 1 (again, sorry for the delay, it's rough re-adjusting off of "Disney Time"!)

Day 1 - Evening:

My family and I got on the monorail, and rode up front to the Magic Kingdom! After the ride, the monorail pilot presented each of us an official monorail co-pilot's license! I have wanted one of these since I was a kid!

I didn't think they still gave them out! Man...the Disney Magic was really workin'!
We got into the park at just after 9:00 P.M., and the Spectramagic parade was already in progress (and I left my video camera back at the hotel!) It was as brilliant as it was back in 2003! We all loved it1 Now we made our way to Space Mountain, and after a short 15 minute wait, the front car beckoned! What a rush, as always! I seem to only really enjoy this ride fully if I ride directly in front!
After Space Mountain, we headed for the Indy cars, as my wife and kids never rode them before. We had a 10 minute wait, and got to watch the fireworks from the bridge over the speedway! What a rare treat!
After Indy, it was time to check out Pirates Of The Carribean, so off we went in the dark! There was absolutely NO line, and NO wait, and we had our own boat as well! As a matter of fact, the boat in front and the boat behind us were completely empty, so we were able to really let loose with our "pirate speak"! I really really wish I had not left my camera back at the Poly!
We then went to Splash Mountain, and again..........no line! This was turning into a most productive evening! The "log" in front of us was empty, and after the ride I was extremely tempted to purchase the photo of the empty log just to tell people that we had all fallen out!

I didn't buy it though, and now I'm kicking myself!!
The Spectramagic parade was just starting again

and we had excellent viewing for it, as the crowds had really thinned out by now. This was the best viewing we have ever had for the parade, and all the marching characters made a point to come over to us and interact with us! (I was now severely kicking myself for forgetting the video camera!!)
After riding some more, we decided to take the ferry back to the Poly, as we were all absolutely dragging by this point! Time for a shower and bed.
I am amazed at the resilience of my family, we put in a 21 hour day! If we wake up tomorrow, it's off to Epcot

Well, we DID wake up and went to Epcot! More on that next report!!

Can't wait to read the rest of your trip report! Quick comment: unless you've got a better camcorder than I do (and I pray you do), you might not have been able to get this ride taped. I tried with our JVC digicam, and it didn't turn out at all. It was too dark in there.

I've heard that the Sony camcorders can shoot the PotC and HM without any trouble, though... I might have to borrow one from someone I know when we go back (maybe next year!) to see if I can tape those two rides....

Sounds like you all had a wonderful time! Don't kick yourself to hard about leaving the video camera in your room though. I find that sometimes I get so intent on filming that I forget to really experience the ride, parade, etc....
