Re: Doughnut Does Disney!
Saturday Sept.10th and would you believe it?? Stitch is still hooting and hollering all over the kingdom!!
We decided to have breakfast on the balcony so we loaded up down at Roarin' Forks and watched the sun rise while we sipped our coffee and munched on our danish. I could just live here--ya know? Sure you do! Caught a bus to the AK and arrived in time for opening. We took our time and strolled around the park--no crowds at all! Ran into Mickey, Minnie, Goofy (HB's alltime fave!!), Pluto, Lilo and Stitch. Everyone is looking great! We got some pics and headed over to the Safari. Got right on and I believe we saw every animal that could be out! Our heads were turning so much you might think we had swivels for necks! Next up was the early show for the Lion King. I just love that show--so much going on! And I just can't wait to be king......(sorry, just having a moment). I believe Pumbaa is putting on a little weight. LOL! Popped over to the Tree of Life and continued to take pictures...I am under the impression that I will photograph every animal on it! I brought a telephoto lens this trip specifically for this purpose. Of course I don't have a list to go by, but I will get all the animals one day! Since we were there, we went underground and saw It's Tough to be a Bug....HB always forgets that the little bugs have to leave first, so she always jumps when they 'run' along the floor! It's my favorite part of the show! Onto Kali River Rapids.....good thing we are wearing dryfast clothing! Now, the last time we were down at WDW we both weighed much more than we do now. HB had this theory that we always got so soaked because sitting together we were (in her opinion) the heaviest in the raft. HB has lost over 70 lbs and I have lost over 50 lbs (you can't tell by the picture--I had to stretch and skew) so she is thinking that we won't get wet. Right. We didn't get soaked, we got DRENCHED. In the name of science and because HB is sure that her theory is correct we had to ride 3 more times. We were NOT the heaviest in the raft at any of those times and we got drenched EVERY time. I really wish I had a picture of us after 4 times! Went to the Flame Tree Barbecue and had a great lunch. The ducks demanded to be fed and kept following us around the table area until HB broke down and gave them some fries. They must have imprinted on us because they started to follow us when we left the area. It was onto DinoLand and Dinosaur the ride...which was broken down...it broke down while we were on it last time. Right where the Carnisaurous roars over you--that is where we were stuck for about 10 minutes--big brave Bear was in a ball on the floor! Needless to say HB was NOT disappointed that we couldn't ride Dinosaur. BTW, Expedition Everest is coming along nicely--I CAN'T WAIT!! Rode over to the Conservaton Station and took our time meandering through. At the petting zoo the goats were quite entertaining. One had a definite taste for the AK maps that people had in their hands/pockets....it was having a field day stealing the maps and eating them up before the CM's could chase them down! Next up was the Flights of Wonder. This has to be one of my favorites! And....I was chosen from the audience to come up to the stage with my camera to get a picture of the owl that flies through the show. Here I am with my camera up to my face and I can't even begin to tell you what a predator looks like coming right atcha with full wing extension and claws out! I must have jumped 6 feet! I got a cool Magical Moments Certificate and oh, by the way, my cameras' batteries went dead just as I hit the shutter. Boo! That was my ONLY sad moment during the entire trip. We caught the parade and then headed back to the WL. Swam for a bit and decided to have room service serve us dinner--the steaks were delish! We just took it easy for the remainder of the evening...watched fireworks from the balcony and then of course the Electrical Water Pageant...it was nice to chill and just enjoy the surroundings. I left the wake-up call time and we fell asleep watching Disney movies. Tomorrow--MGM day!

Re: Doughnut Does Disney!
This is why the brass Beaver and Log rails are loose in the elevators in the WL!

Re: Doughnut Does Disney!
So far, this is one of the best vacations I have ever read about! Y'all did this trip up right!!! (Wouldn't it be funny if they actually DO have your security-camera mug shots up on the wall at the CM post office -- "Wanted: Rail-stealers!"
)
