EJ's 1st day of 2006

What better way to start off the New Year than at WDW? (even if it was a crowd level 8

)

By 2PM we were in MGM, and the line for ToT said 50 min.

But knowing that that ride can be deceiving, we got FPs for RnRc, then got in the line for ToT. No line whatsoever! Everyone must have been scared off by the 50 min. sign, and when we finally were behind people, it was inside the building. 15 min wait, tops. Afterwards, we strolled around the park a little, shared a pizza, I got myself a beer, actually managed to score a PS for Hollywood & Vine for later, then went back to the Aerosmith courtyard to wait for our FP time. They had a DJ, and after studying their moves, I joined a couple of people who were line dancing (I know, I'm a nerd

). Of course, I got too close to another girl and got stepped on.

Then we grabbed an FP for ToT, as the lines were getting progressively worse, and went to Hollywood & Vine for dinner. I don't know what their problem was, but they were about 20-30 minutes behind their PS times, and everyone was getting very grumpy having to wait so long. It was still early, too, only 5PM. But once we got in, everything was good, except the salmon and the mac n cheese had been out too long. HOWEVER even though it was supposed to be blacked out on New Year's Day, I took a shot in the dark and put my DDE card in with the bill and what do you know? They actually ran it! Saved us $10! Pretty cool!

After one more ride on ToT, we headed to the Poly, got Pete a cigar and me a Malibu Bay Breeze (again, used the DDE card w/out any trouble!), then went down to the beach and swung in a hammock for about 90 minutes

Pete had to be up early for work today, so we didn't get to stay for Wishes, but all in all, a pretty nice way to start out 2006!

EJ - I love hearing about your frequent visits but I get so darn jealous!!!!!!!!! I look forward to the day when I move to Florida and I can do this. I can't imagine it would ever get old.

Capt., you know it's funny 'cause I was afraid we'd get sick of it, but we've been going once or twice a month since March, and we just never get tired of doing it! You should just pack up and head down like we did!

EJ, thanks for the trip report. One question, where at teh Poly is the Cigar store? That would be a great way to end a meal at Ohanas.

But with that said... Thanks for sharing your WDW New Year's Day TR. It must be so cool to be able to go whenever you want...especially on a day like New Year's Day. You lucky duck...

Oh...and you said that y'all were worried that y'all might get sick of WDW when you moved down there? Have you lost your mind?

I'm jealous too! I still love to read your reports though. If I can't be there, I wanna hear others' TRs. I don't think you're a nerd for jumping in to dance. I would have been right there with ya. Maybe some day I will be. I'm paying off my credit cards now (me bad), and will be retiring later this year. After bills are paid, immediately begin saving for down payment on my own (first) new home! I figure in ~5 years time, I'll be living ~60 miles from WDW.

This is probably a dumb question to most of you, but what's a DDE card?

It's a Disney Dining and Entertainment card that saves you 20% off of your meal.
