Mini trip report of our "minnie" trip
Hello! We got back late Sunday and I have been too busy to even log on until now! Our trip was short - only two days at the parks but we had a great time!
We drove up Thursday night and arrived at our hotel about 9:00 p.m. We stayed at the Comfort Suites, adjacent to Old Towne, off of 192. I must say we were pleasantly surprised. It will probably be the majority of my report since this will be a mini one. It has been years since I not only stayed on 192 but have even driven on it. I was happy to see that the majority of construction is done. To access the hotel, you must turn before Old Towne, if heading west, and drive back to a wooded area, about 1/4 off 192. Nice location. Check in was fast and easy. Our two rooms were connecting suites overlooking the big, 24 hour pool, jacuzzi, and bar. Very nice. The rooms did not have divided bedrooms but a small living area and kitchenette. It was just perfect except we had to have a smoking room for my mom and brother. :devil Cough, cough, weez (if you are a non-smoker, you understand :dazed ). All room were accessed from the inside of hotel. The maid service was good. Our biggest surprise was free continental breakfast. Many choices such as cereals, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, toast, bagel, fresh fruit, yougurt, waffle, french toast, fruit juice, coffee, milk, etc. The next morning we went to EPCOT. The weather was very ugly but we didn't get rained on. The place was empty! We went right on everthing! Test track was as fun as always, Mission Space looks "ready", Ellen's Engery Adv was fun with the five other people that rode with us - total. We got to see and do everything, including lunch in Mexico which was very expensive, I thought. Dinner was in England and was a delight - we got to eat while it rained and it stopped when we left. :) I didn't find much to report about EPCOT with this trip. Probably because we were rushing so much to let brother experience everything. I was sad to see that the Living Seas is getting more and more sparce. I hope they don't close it. The next day we went to Magic Kingdom. Got to ticket and transport at 8:15 and they were letting everyone through. We got to MK's entrance and they had a Welcome Celebration which brought tears to my eyes. All the characters rode into the train station and then were out for meet and greet. It was very nice. We went right back to Splash and Thunder Mountains. Walked right on and had so much fun. Brother loved 'em. Space mountain was empty, too. All signs of Fed Ex are gone. Including the monitors in the queue area. It seemed very bare, just like before. I thought they did a terrible job of ripping off the Fed Ex stickers from the displays as you exit. They were litterally left half torn on the "boxes". Carosel of Progress was closed. As was TimeKeeper. We got to see and do everything with minimal wait. Of couse there were the usual crowds in Fantasy Land (what is up with that area between Peter Pan and Small World? it is madness!) Again, not too much to report about MK. We were bookin' it though to try to see everything. We did have a very pleasant lunch in the castle. DD got to see a few Princesses because they were accompanying a Make A Wish child to lunch. Very sweet. That night we went to Pleasure Island and had the best time ever! It was mardi gras and they were throwing beads. The weather had cleared up and everyone was in a good mood. My husband and I were picked to be in a skit in the Adventurer's Club :o and because by then we were feeling no pain, I happily joined in. :angel Normally, these things are a no-no for me as I am sorta shy and get embarrassed easily. I was so glad that we went. This was a very fun trip despite the weather and the world. It was just what I needed. Of course, it wasn't enough and I cannot wait to go back!

Glad to hear you had a good time, Fifi, even with the smoke. (Yep, I know what you mean!) It does sound like it was just enough to tease, though. Do you get to do a longer trip soon? Tell us about that skit...were you being a silly girl? Wish we could have seen it.

Glad you had a great time! I get so jealous when I hear about other people's trips because it makes me even more anxious to get down there!!!!! I haven't been down there since 96' and were heading down this coming December and I'm a little bit saddened to hear your report on the Living Seas, which has always been an EPCOT favorite of mine. Does it really look that bad? Any others that you can think of that haven't been maintained up to par? Its sad to hear things like that. My father drives for a tour bus company and he was down there this past summer (which he said was totally horrible because his favorite time to go is right before Christmas). He was surprised to see how dirty EPCOT looked, garbage on the grounds and the carpeting on some of rides in future world was filthy. I don't know if it was because of the huge crowds considering it was summer because I don't remember the parks being like that at all, they were spotless. Hopefully things will improve!!! Thanks for the report though!

Baby (now 3 months) and daughter (3) were right there with us almost the whole trip - not of course at Pleasure Island. The baby was so good! He is a real trooper. Personally, I think he was just as excited as we were to be there. ;)
The skit was in the library part of the club with the maid. She was doing her closing number and pointed to me and another woman saying she wanted us to be three singing blondes. I protested at first but everyone started yelling and clapping and then my husband just about pushed me off of my chair. We sang "Bye Bye Blackbird" and did a little dance she made up. Then she called on our husbands who had to do the same thing since they had been laughing so hard. :laugh My stomach hurt from laughing after watching hubby!!:laugh :laugh :laugh

Glad you had such a great time! I have a question though about EE. You said you got there at 8:15 and they were letting everyone through. Was EE at 7am or something. Also you said you went right back to splash and thunder were they open for EE? I thought it was just fantasyland and tomorrowland attractions? i'm confused. It's great that you got to go, even just for a short trip. Also, love to hear resort reports sounds like where you stayed was very nice.
Thanks Angie

I'm glad you had a great trip. I would love to be able to do a quick trip to WDW once in a while. That is so cool the you and your DH were picked to be in a skit at the Adventurer's club. I love that place, but I always try to go unnoticed while there!!! I'm the type of person who hates to get up in front of a group of people. Gosh--That sounds funny coming from a teacher!!
