Re: Guess What I Did This Weekend!
DH and I have had so much to deal with lately. Problems with the house, with work...it's just been very stressful. So we decided that a weekend at WDW was cheaper than therapy!
It was a last minute decision, and when I say "last minute", I really mean it! I had to work Friday until 6 and sometime around 4 or so, DH calls and tells me what a rotten day he was having. He says...we need to go to WDW. Who am I to argue??? So, I got home at about 6:30 and DH was packed! I said "are we going tonight or tomorrow morning?" and he said "NOW!" OK, so I threw a couple of changes of clothes in a bag, grab my AP, get my toiletry kit (which is kept stocked for just such emergencies ), and we were out the door by 7:10.

Re: Guess What I Did This Weekend!
I don't think I mentioned that I got a new car a couple of weeks ago. I had a PT Cruiser that I really loved, but it was a lease, and the lease was up, so I bought a new one. It's black with chrome accents, and... well she needed a road trip!
OK, so we did not have a hotel reservation. I had called to see if there were any value resorts available, but there weren't. We figured we'd just get a cheap place on 192. It's not like hotels are hard to come by! We hit 192 around 10 pm and stopped at the Holiday Inn Westgate. It looked ok from the front! Cheap enough at 50/night, but from the back it looked pretty icky! They're remodeling, so there were old beds stacked up by the dumpster and crates of tile and stuff everywhere. I didn't really care since it was such a last minute thing and we were here for our therapy session and not for the ambiance of the lodging! ![]()

Re: Guess What I Did This Weekend!
The room lived up to it's 50/night reputation,
but it served its purpose. We got to sleep after 11 and dreamed of pirates, princesses and soarin' I woke up around 6:30, showered and got dressed before DH got up! He's a deep sleeper, I'm an early waker. By the time he showered and shaved it was after 8. We decided to start off at MK on Saturday and then do the F&W at Epcot today. As you may know, our plans are never concrete! We got to MK just after 9 and went right for PoC. There was no line at all!!! I LOVED the new ride! I think the sound system is so much better now too.We then went to BTMRR, picked up a FP (which we didn't really need because there was NO LINE!) and then went to ride Splash! That ride is so much fun. We always joke that "Laughing Place" is our wedding song, cuz we got married at MK and then "took the plunge" I was glad we didn't get too soaked. Hate walking around in wet drawers all day! We rode BTMRR 3 times (stress is starting to lessen...I can feel it slipping away!) then headed over to TL to ride Space Mtn. Wait was only about 10 mins., not bad at all.

Re: Guess What I Did This Weekend!
Over lunch at Cosmic Rays (remember when it was Tomorrowland Terrace and had hideous orange and brown carpet?
)we contemplated the rest of our day. It’s only noon-ish and there wasn’t much left in MK that we really wanted to do this trip. We decided to head on over to Epcot to check out the F&W. This decision should have been made PRIOR to stuffing our faces with chicken and ribs, but we tend to do things a bit on the unorthodox side , so...We hop a bus to Beach Club and walk over to Epcot. We are just amazed at all the different transportation options. If you want to skip FW and just hit WS, it pays to come in through the International Gateway. Saves lots of walking.

Re: Guess What I Did This Weekend!
We picked up a FP for Soarin' which had a 75 min wait. At 1:30 our FP return time was 4:30, so we had time to kill. Time to kill at a F&W Festival??? That can only mean trouble!!!
We stopped for a glass of sparkling red wine at the welcome center (stress? what stress?? )We shopped at the tea shop in England and walked around a while checking out the samples. We still planned on coming back the next day (today!) so we paced ourselves accordingly. With DH being a trained chef it’s very interesting to get his perspective on these kinds of events. We have gone to many food shows in the past and this was very similar except that the samples here cost $2-$6 each!

Re: Guess What I Did This Weekend!
We sampled and shopped until it was time for Soarin'. In line for the ride (which now had a 90 min wait!) there was this couple in line behind us. The woman seemed very friendly and talkative and was asking about the ride (was it scary, etc.). She proceeded to go on and ON about how they'd been drinking all day and were a bit woozy. She kept getting LOUDER and LOUDER and was complaining about the crowds and the rides (how they're all too rough on her neck) and on and on. When we finally got in the final queue she starts talking to this very nice family in the next line. They were from England and had never been to Epcot. So Mrs. Tipsy starts telling them that next time they come they should stay with HER because she lives nearby! She was getting progressively louder and the pre-show film was now on, but all you could hear was her! People were shooting her dagger looks, but did it quiet her??? Nope!
I was just waiting for them to open the door so we could be seated, and what does she do??? She CUTS in front of us so she could sit next to the family from England! DH and I were just laughing now, but felt really bad for them. She talked through the whole ride. We've been on it several times, so we weren't too upset, but I felt bad for people who waited a long time to ride only to have some drunk ruin it for them. ![]()
