Oi - don't read this unless you want to be depressed

So we returned to WDW after 3 mos. Shouldn't have gone on 1/2 marathon day though.

Got to MGM. RnRC closed for day. Rode Tot w/a minimal wait. Pete got a burger while I got (surprise!) a beer. Then a mosquito landed in it when it was halfway gone so I couldn't finish it Didn't much feel like riding anything else at MGM, so we went to DtD to shop for MIL. Found nothing.

Went to MK. Terrifying. Might as well have been Christmas. 50 min waits on everything, Splash Mtn shut down for the month, COULDN'T EVEN GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO HM TO SEE IF RING GONE. Evacuated to Poly for Pete's cigar & EJ's Malibu Bay Breeze.

Went home.

Overall- nice to have a day w/Pete, but crowds were unbelievable.

Wow sorry to hear that. High crowd levels can really spoil a trip.

What a bummer Jenny. I'm was hoping you'd have an excellent time (and we'd get a rockin' TR ), but I didn't even think of the marathon crowd

Two things though, lol. Did Pete give up on being a vegetarian? And more importantly, how was your Malibu Bay Breeze?

oh, that's stinky!! and...stoopid mosquito!!!

We changed our plans around a bit to avoid the marathon and the MLK holiday next weekend...hopefully all the crowds will be gone by the 16th!

It's still a day in WDW, right? And you've always got CFII, right???

Re: Oi - don't read this unless you want to be depressed

Yes, I am very much looking forward to CFII. And the Malibu was lovely. We sat and watched the sunset and that was very nice. All in all, I enjoyed being there with Pete, but was unpleasantly surprised by the sheer number of people there and the 2 major attractions being shut down. I've posted TRs in the past where we've hardly gotten to ride anything and we still had a great time, but 2 things make this different:

A: I hadn't been in so long and wanted to ride rides;

B: January should be empty and it wasn't

And yes, Pete is no longer a vegetarian (thank goodness!)

I think it will be better during the week w/out the marathon runners.

Just so no one thinks I'm a sissy, if a roach fell in my beer, I'd probably fish out the bug and then finish it, but mosquitos bite people and I don't want to consume any bloodborne pathogens

Re: Oi - don't read this unless you want to be depressed

Yikes! I'm hoping it was just the marathon that brought out the crowds.

Sorry you didn't have a magical day. I've prepared myself for the closing of Splash Mountain (doesn't it seem like SM closes for refurbishment more than any other ride?) and my dh is absolutely thrilled that R & R Coaster will be closed when he's there. He hates rollercoasters. Thank goodness it opens up before I leave.

Are you saying that you couldn't finish the beer because:

a) there was an icky mosquito in it.

b) that would have been just to much protein in one day.

c) the mosquito landed in your beer and drank the rest before you fish her out.

(I'm going with c because we know that roaches don't drink beer )
