My Mid-Week Disney Escape

It was only one day, but one day at Disney beats another day just about anywhere else!

Cast of characters:

Me
DH (James)
DH's co-worker (Alex) and his wife, (Lidia)

Alex and James were invited to attend a trade show at Gaylord Palms, so we thought it would be a great opportunity to play tourguide since Lidia and Alex are Disney newbies. They'd only been to MK, so we thought with only one day, we'd show them Epcot.
We hit the road by 7 am and were in the Epcot gates by 10. There was quite a line for bag check and it had me a bit worried. Isn't it January? Why are all these people here on a TUESDAY? Hmm

First stop was Soarin' for a FP. Stand by wait was already 60 minutes. Our return time was 11:15 (about an hour) so we rode LwtL. I hadn't been on the "farm ride" in a while. It was entertaining and educational, and kept us busy for a bit.

We grabbed a cup of coffee after the ride and waited a bit until our FP time.

Re: My Mid-Week Disney Escape

Soarin' is AWESOME! It's one of my all-time favorite rides. I just wish it were longer!

Alex liked it.
Lidia closed her eyes the whole time!
(they're not really "ride" people, we found out!)

When we got off the ride, I noticed the wait time was down to 45 minutes. This eased my mind a bit because I thought it was going to be packed all day from the looks of the bag-check line. I guess everyone coming in headed right for the Land.

After Soarin' we went to The Seas (I guess it's not the "Living" Seas anymore, it's the Seas with Nemo ...or something like that).

Here's Alex and Lidia on the way to the Seas.

Re: My Mid-Week Disney Escape

I think I forgot to mention something.

IT WAS COLD!!!!!!!!!

Not as cold as last January when we were there, but it was real breezy and it had been sooooo hot the last few days that it was quite a shock!

anyway...

We rode the Nemo clam shell ride (it's cute...much better than those hydrolator things they used to have ) The wait for Nemo was about 20 minutes. I do like theme to the queue. At the beginning it's like you're at the beach, with sand dunes, sea grass, lifeguard stand etc, then as you work your way through you are under water and above you are waves and a boat bottom (I'm going to touch the butt!!!) and there are pilings with barnacles...it's very well done.

We looked around at the fish for a while, said hello to the manatees and then went to ride SSE.

Here are the seagulls outside the Nemo ride. I them!

(mine mine mine mine mine mine mine)

Re: My Mid-Week Disney Escape

We have to ride SSE everytime we go to Epcot. It's just one of those things!

I could fall asleep on that ride if the speaker wasn't so loud!

After SSE we decided to pick up a FP for TT and then get a bite to eat. Only one problem. THERE WERE NO FPs LEFT!!! It was only 12:30 or so and ALL the FPs for the day were GONE!!!

Ah well, no worries. The stand-by wait was 30 minutes. We were on the ride in 15 or so.

By then we were a bit hungry and Alex had been dreaming of turkey legs, so we stopped for a bite. Those were the best turkey legs EVER! They were HUGE and there's no way I could finish one. Should've split one with DH.

After gorging on turkey we wandered around Future World a bit, checked out Club Cool where Alex and Lidia had their first (and I assume LAST) taste of BEVERLY! (Anyone else still miss the frozen caveman ? )

It really was a beautiful day, and it warmed up quite a bit. It's one of those days you wish you could bottle and pull out in August!

Re: My Mid-Week Disney Escape

About 2:00 we were working our way toward Canada. Off Kilter was playing at 2:30!!!

I've missed them on my last 2 visits and that was NOT going to happen again!

We shopped a bit and waited for them to come on, and heard a few good songs. They put on such a good show. I wish they'd play longer sets tho.

I don't know why, but my picture is all foggy looking.

It is from the steam coming off of the hot mans legs
