Tim and Bobby's DLR Trip Report

Sorry I didnt use our screen names in the thread name - MY BAD
Tim = Anaheimboy - Bobby = Disneyguru

OH-KAY. SO, well Im sitting here at my computer - 1:15 pm (school was canceled due to a big snow storm we had last night), chewing a piece of gum and listening to Soarin' Over California....and then a thought comes to mind - you need to SERIOUSLY do your trip report!

SO with all that in mind I guess the time has come for that to happen - TR time! It will be a bit long...so yea...here we go! *And I didnt check it for spelling errors either - I didnt feel like reading it all over again after I typed it - HA so bare with me*

Well Well Well, where is one to start with so much to say?

Well for starters - the ENTIRE trip I was sick and lost my voice - WOO HOO.... But it was still way fun besides that little fact..

Saturday 12:30 - I get my last things packed into my car, tell my parents good bye and I leave - the destination: Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
1 hr 15 mins later I arrive, park my car and go into the Domestic Flights terminal.
Bobby's flight was schedualed to land at 1:45 pm and it was about 1:30pm when I got up to the flight board to see what the status of his flight was - 1:35: Landed. Hmm....So I start to pace back and forth, back and forth and ten minutes later I get a call from Bobby -

Tim: Hello
Bobby: Hey, its Bobby, where are you?
Tim: In the main terminal, where are you?
Bobby: Umm...In denver, I kind of missed my flight, Ill be in at the 8pm
flight...
Tim: WHAT??? **** it Bobby, I TOLD you to pay attention at the airport
*SIGH*
Bobby: HAHAHAHA got you - Ill be there in a few minutes.
Tim: OMG - YOU SUCK, ARG.

Haha when that happened my heart just dropped because my house is like an hour and a half away...man he got me good.

So he meets me outside, we walk to the restroom, and then go to my car and leave.

What a GREAT way to make your first impression: I get lost getting out the airport trying to find Junction 180 W to 168 S to 99 S.....I had to call my dad, while driving on unknow streets to myself (I never go down to the airport area often since I normally fly out of SFO or LAX). So we finally get on the road.

We drove straight to Anaheim with no stops - with a little excitment on the way...me almost getting into a slight accident while trying to put a CD into the CD player - another great way to make yourself look like an idiot to someone you've meet for the first time....OK I was nervous - shut up and stop laughing at me, lol.

We got into Anaheim around 7pm, the last hour before getting to Disneyland was stop and go traffic as it always is in the evening in LA, but that was fine.

Our first hotel was the Anaheim Carriage Inn, not too too bad for the price we payed, a little further from DLR than I usually stay, but for the price that was paid you cant beat what we got.
We un-packed and then headed to DTD and had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, which is officially Bobby's favorite restaurant, we ate there like 3 times during out trip. Then we looked at the shops and I showed him around DTD. On our way back to the hotel we watched Remember...Dreams Come True from the front tram drop-offs and then we headed back to the hotel, talked a bit and then went to sleep.

DAY 1 - Sunday

I got up at 5:30am and Bobby at 6, we checked out around 6:45ish, drove over to our other hotel and parked the car because the first nights hotel wouldnt let us stay, but out other hotel - Hotel Menage - was REALLY easy going about everything.

The Hotel Menage was litterally maybe 10 minutes away by foot - VERY close.

We got the the entry plaza - not too too crowded....until 10 minutes later. Sunday was CROWDED, more than your usuall weekend crowds, but hey thats what you get for going on a holiday weekend - I was expecting crowds and hey...thats A-OK because that doesnt ruin a trip for me.

Bobby was suprised at the difference of the two parks, his biggest suprise was how much smaller our hub area was but he thought it was absolutely amazing and loved it all.
We rode a few of the big rides first Space, Indiana, Haunted Mansion, Pirates and such. Then we went and ate. We were going to eat breakfast at the Riverbelle Terrace but it had a long line so we decided to go get cash from the ATM at the MS Bank, we then headed back the Riverbelle Terrace to only find it closed because of a broken cash register. So we headed back to MS and I suggested we eat the Blue Ribbon Bakery - which we did and we loved it so much we ate breakfast there every monring except Monday - we only went into DL on Monday night.

So we did a lot of walking, looking, rode some rides and such. And then about 12:30ish we met Faith and her family over at Peter Pans Flight - She kindly let us cut in line (Thanks Faith!) And boy is she and her family amazing! Their so kind and sweet, and very funny too! We rode petter, got off talked and then headed over to Its A Small World - Where we then met Peppertink! She very awesome too, very up-beat and friendly. It was so nice to finally meet some of my MB family!

Bobby and I decided we didnt want to ride IASW and said our good byes and headed over to DCA. Bobby was thrilled with the park (or so I thought) I dont think we rode anything the first time we went into the park - it was really crowded and I just wanted to show him the park itself.

Then we hopped back over to DL park, where we ate lunch - well kind of, I wasnt overly hungry so I had an apple and a bottle of water and Bobby had one of DL's famous turkey legs. We then got in spot for Walt Disney's Parade of Dream where Bobby became the parade for a bunch of Asians (no offense) who took the liberty of watching him eat this turkey leg....and FINALLY one of them got the guts to come and ask us where we got it because it looked so good.
So we decided not to wait because it was so long until the parade started and we did some walking and headed back to DCA where we were determined to spend the afternoon until the afternoon parade, I think we rode Screamin and once realized the crowds decided we should just head back over to DL and watch the day showing of WDPOD. We saw the parade, and it was fabulous as usual. After that we went a rode a few rides (I dont recal which ones) and did some more walking and watched a bit of New Orleans Squares "Mardi Gras Celebration" - its a live singer with a band who throws beads and gets involved with the guests in dancing and tamberine banging and such - its really great and very southern.
Soon Dinner time was approaching - lines we long and I wanted Bobby to try the Clam Chowder in a bread bowl at the Veranda Street Cafe - I had the vegetarian Gumbo - it was really goooood.

After that we headed over to DCA and rode the Tower of Terror, which Bobby loved from what he said and then it was back over to DL to see Remember...Dreams Come True. HA, its a goood thing we got those park hopper tickets because we probably set the record for the most park hopping in an amount of like 5 hours (lol j/k ).I got some Ice Cream and Gibbson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and then got our spot for Remember...Dreams Come True - which I knew it was going to be canceled, I know those Santa Ana winds to well and when the MS train station flag is blowing high you know there wont be any fireworks - and nope, there wasnt, they were canceled....it then started to sprinkle and we just decided to head back to the hotel and call it a day.

DAY 2 - Monday

So originally we were supposed to go to DLR Sun-Tues and the Queen Mary on Wed.
But with the crowds on Sunday we decided to not go on Monday and go to the Queen Mary instead - well I really didnt want to go drive to the Queen Mary so we didnt and just had a leasurley day in DTD and at the hotel.
That morning we ate at Denny's for breakfast - good cheap food - YUM. Then we headed to DTD after re-parking the car at the hotel (we drove to Denny's). We ate at Ralph Breanens Jazz Kitchen for lunch, Im usually not fond of the place because I dont usually like what they serve or how they serve their food but this time I really enjoyed myself. In the evening at Dinner time we went and ate at Mimi's Cafe, which Bobby had never been to and he loved it - especially that Raisin Carrot bread they give you as an appetizer.
After that we headed back over to the Esplanade - there was NO wind, and of course the night we wernt going into DL. So after much debating I just decided to swallow the cost and buy a one day one park DL ticket so I could see RDCT, Bobby got one to of course and after seeing the show said it was worth every penny (all 63 bucks). After the show we rode the Matterhorn, The teacups and headed back to the hotel.

DAY 3 - Tuesday

Not as crowded as Sunday or Monday but still crowded. We got in and ate at the Blue Ribbon Bakery
Today was a early addmision day for us, so we got in and ate and rode some of the Fantasyland rides that usually get crowded quickly (Storybook land, Pinocchio, etc etc). We also rode Big Thunder, POTC, Matterhorn and Space Mnt. Then we headed over to DCA right as it opened. Got on Monsters Inc, Tower of Terror, Soarin Over California, The Sun Wheel, The Maliboomer, Its Tought To Be a Bug, saw the park, did the shops and just had a good time. We ate lunch at the Pacific Warf Cafe and Bakery, we had the Salads in bread bowls and ate right on the warf at the waters edge (you REALLY feel like your in Monterey Bay, its GREAT )
Then we went back to DL park and did the usual - rode the rides and walked. We also got talking about The Year of a Million Dreams and such.
WELL, lucky for us we had a "Dream" made at dinner.
After we got on our coats and such because it was getting cold I had been telling Bobby how we have to eat at the Riverbelle Terrace for at least dinner because they have the best southern salads and such and for a great price too. Well we entered through the Frontierland side and at the entrance was a CM, whom I was going to go ask a question about working at the parks and before I even asked her she said "Oh hello, would you two be intersted in participating in a new dinner service we're offering here at the Riverbelle Terrace during The Year of a Million Dreams?" Bobby was like uh...and I was like yea, sure! SO instead of waiting in the long line there was at the door, we were escorted to a privatly reserved table, with a white table cloth, a great window view of Adventureland and we were served as a regular restaurant would serve you, it was GREAT! We had people asking us how we got this and all that good stuff...I was like "beacause we're cool like that" haha then I told them about The Year of A Million Dreams thingy. It was great.
After dinner we went to DCA and rode the Tower of Terror, went back to DL and rode a few more rides and then headed back to the hotel.

DAY 4 - Wednesday

This was a regular admission day, not early admission for us. We got into DL park atea breakfast and began to walk around and ride rides.
Had a nice leasurely trip on the Mark Twain, saw the park and such and We left DL park for lunch on the monorail and ate at the Rainforest Cafe and came back to Tomorrowland on the monorail. Then that night for dinner was the dinner night Bobby had been looking forward too - dinner at the Blue Bayou. He was really suprised with how upscale it was and was a little unsure because he had never eaten at a restaurant before like the Blue Bayou. But he loved it and it was great. He had the seafood Jambalya and I had the Portobello Mushrooms and CousCous MaqueChoux. It was great! We then ended the day with Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams - Main Street view and a few rides. After that we headed back to the hotel and that was pretty much Wednesday (HAHA, can you tell Im getting tired of typing with how little I typed for Wednesday? )

DAY 5 - Thursday

We left this day, we slept in some, got ready, packed the car and headed over to DTD and had breakfast at La Brea Bakery. Looked around over at the Disneyland Hotel - went shopping at the Fantasia Shop in the DL Hotel, took one more look at the Grand Californian and looked at a few more shops in DTD then went back to the car, waved off DLR and headed home.

We stopped on the other side of the Grape Vine for lunch at Denny's and then headed back to Fresno Yosemite International Airport. After finding the darn place (UGH - My mom gave me wrong directions) we parked the car, got out Bobby's things, went inside, said our goodbyes and he was off to go home and so was I.

We both got home safely and the trip was amazing, or so I thought it was.

But that was our trip in a nut shell and Bobbys first time to the Disneyland Resort!

Hope you all enjoyed!
